Stickman and Thai Visa

Slimy little cunt trying to smear another slimy cunt.

Yeah, but the brave warrior didn't post the hatchet job until he left Thailand. So he's just a weasel and not a stupid weasel.

He may have a career in the Law.

Maybe Noyes will hire him.

I think you summed that up quite accurately. I was given a vacation from Thai Visa when I made a comment about one of the leading homosexual posters. He complained that I should be barred. I haven't posted on Thai Visa for several years. My comment was that I thought his type were more peace loving than the more aggressive posters. Pissed him off big time.

My timeout on ThaiVisa was for asking Chivas (Chivas/Chatkeow/King_Midas and probably many more aliases here) how much he made "shorting" Facebook after he advised he had "inside" information that it has headed for bankruptcy.

This was soon after the IPO when it had dropped from $50/share to about $25/share. Less than a week after Chivas' "insider" post it started a climb and is now over $80/share.

Old Chivas now trolls over at Secrets forum as General_Rastus. His recent financial "wisdom" was to short the FTSE Index at Easter because it was sure to plummet after the UK allowed pensioners to cash out their pensions at age 55. Of course the FTSE immediately shot skyward to an all time high LOL.

Stickman is still in Thailand, isn't he?

I read Stickman more for entertainment than actual information. He is a paid blogger and a talented writer. He thinks just because he speaks fluent Thai he is somehow much more knowledgeable and better than anyone who is not fluent.

Truth is he is not a Thai accountant or a Thai lawyer and knows not much more if anything than any of us that do our due diligence

He went from being and English teacher to a blogger to an entrepreneur with his blog and i respect that, however i do not consider him the definitive word in everything Thai.

Thai Visa is not really different than other forums. They cut and paste news articles from other news sources and let bm's comment on them in open discussion. Some are very knowledgeable and helpful all the way down to trolls with no life. They make money on banner adverts just like he does. The only real difference between Stickman and Thai Visa is TV is an open forum and Stick is basically a closed monologue.

I don't know but rather took it that he would not leave himself open for being charged with libel/slander which his last weekly would apparently be construed to be in Thailand so he posted it outside Thailand.

Reading that link, at the bottom it says

I like to think that I plan things well and that my departure from Thailand had been worked out down to the last detail. The condo lease was up, I had the column mapped out and goodbye dinners were held. Everything was on schedule until the phone rang - and then everything was turned on its head. That phone call was an effort to save the column and I now find myself in discussions about that. Everything is very much up in the air and for the time being at least, the column continues. Expect less nightlife news and less news in general, but the rest should be largely business as usual. So the column survives another week and the uncertainty continues. I had mentally prepared myself for leaving and some keen readers mentioned they'd done the same. I hate to muck people around so hopefully next week things will be clearer.

which sounds to me like he has postponed his departure.

I have never been a fan of Stickman but I could change my mind. He has pegged Thai Visa perfectly.

Yeah, I kinda thought that too.

Thaivisa gives Mods a bad name. :D

Quien sabes but I think he posts from outside Thailand now sort of like when he took the hiatus after his scuffle with his stalker.

You're absolutely correct. He's back in NZ now.

I should have known the slimy squirt wouldn't have the nerve to post his last hatchet job while still in Thailand.

Just a guess on my part. I don't follow him closely but I suspect he is still trying to sustain his website remotely while he struggles to unload it for whatever he can get for it.

I'm guessing someone will gradually transfer/transition some of Sickman's contents, e.g., the "stories" somewhere else over this year and Sman will have to continue some presence virtually one way or another so gullible newbies will still visit the site.

But you have to laugh that Sickman still describes himself as "your Bangkok correspondent" ... 555.

Do you know for sure? I had a chat with someone I know in Bangkok and he told me he met with Stickman just about one week ago. In Bangkok.

Well, I was informed by a long standing acquaintance of his that he had gone to NZ for months, but wasn't letting on that he had.

It's possible he came back, since he's been talking about a new development regarding the website....that comment in his Thai Visa tirade was what led me to believe he was still here.

He's the modern day Scarlet Pimpernel it seems.

"They seek him here,

they seek him there,

those Frenchies seek him everywhere.

Is he in heaven or is he in hell?

That damned elusive Pimpernel."

Reading Sman's response, i.e., snow-capped mountains outside his place, to a recent reader story, he must be away from Thailand currently.

"As I write this I am sitting in a beachfront unit with views of a bar and snow-capped mountains in the distance. The unit would be about 70 square metres and is fully featured with everything you need, quality materials and nice touches like good coffee and a quality coffee maker. It's the equivalent of 2,150 baht per night. I don't think you would get this sort of quality and setting in Thailand for the same price."

  • 2 weeks later...

The column is interesting this week and stickman speaks openly about the site and the reason he's moving on. Some won't be surprised to find the following admission.

http://www.stickmanbangkok.com/StickmanWeeklyColumn2015/StickmanBangkok-Not-The-End.htm

Over the last 3 years, and particularly the past 12 months, I have hardly spent any time in the bars, taking photos aside. Plenty of bar news and gossip comes direct from those working in the industry - as it always has. I have spent extended periods outside the country in the past 7 years which I have never before mentioned - and never has there been so much as a peep about it from readers. Of course it's not ideal and, yes, it would be better if I was there on the ground - but that's not going to happen.

I have just recently started to read Stickman. Here's my take.

The Internet is a wonderful place. I can turn on and gain information on a wide range of topics and get up to date knowledge of where I intend visiting. AND ITS ALL FOR FREE! I admit that perhaps I get blase about what I get for almost nothing and sometime need a reality check.

For the above reasons I believe that wherever Stickman is located and whatever his perceived personality, he does a great job for those that want the sort of information that he provides. Like a number of commentators about the Thai scene I believe that he writes well and his news and commentary on the areas that he specialises in are worth while and also thankfully entertaining. He also writes (as evidenced in his latest column) about parts of the Thai life style and culture that whilst I might be on the receiving end of, never run into in an open way and never expect to.

Personally I think that there is a place for all the people who want to share knowledge of their pet subjects for free and even if they get some things wrong at times the world will be a worse place when all the news is centralised blandness and politically correct.

Little chatter on the grapevine, ThaiVisa sold and some very unhappy bunnies...

As posedt on TV:

Some Mod's rewarded, the rest SHAFTED"

Three weeks ago a buddy of mine in Hua Hin told me that George was selling Thai Visa and that 7 of his inner circle moderators were going to get between 500,000 and 700,000 baht as a good will thank you gesture. All had to sign confidentiality deeds. 50% was to be paid up front with the balance within 6 months.

I didn't believe it at the time, but just read now on Stickman that Thai Visa has been sold: http://www.stickmanb...5/Thai-Visa.htm

To all you loyal servants of George that arent one of the Lucky 7, you have been well and truly shafted by George.

I wlll have the list of the lucky 7 in around 30 minutes and will post. Unless one of the cashed up Mod's wants to block me before then.

You won't find that post on TV as it was hastily removed (but not that quickly) along with the poster...
