Pattaya “ready” for predicted return of severe weather

According to long-range weather forecasts, Pattaya is expected to experience more rainstorms and possible flooding in the coming weeks, however Pattaya City Hall has announced they are ready and more prepared than ever to cope with whatever the weather throws at them.

Khun Yuwatida, a Spokesperson for Pattaya City Hall, announced on Friday that the recent floods experienced in Pattaya were the worst seen in the City for 12 years and the severity of the floods and the subsequent damage caused to private and public property was not expected.

She announced that on Pattaya Beach, sandbags have been put into place along with 6 extra pumps which are expected to prevent the severe flooding recently experienced in Pattaya.

Weather forecasts suggest the possibility of severe rainstorms between 26th and 30th September but the local authorities claim they are ready.

It's brilliant mate, empty roads empty restaurants ... 2 days flooding but depends where you stay I was not affected as I am on a hill ...

 

Choosing where you stay is important...I know many people who were flooded or locked in their condos,,,

 

When others were bailing out I was walking with a brolly to restaurants of my choice,,, no problem whatsoever , very cool also you would like that no aircon needed for a week....

Six pumps could help in areas where water can't escape. Won't do much good in the places where the problem is water escaping in a rapid manner down the street.

Today's report is that the sky is totally blue, the sun is shining...I haven't seen such a good weather day in ages...not one cloud in the sky from where I sit.

 

If something's coming, it's still a ways off.

Certainly your bike would be of no use and your location, limits your choice.

My bike was fine I could and did go to several restaurant not even a puddle on pratnamak , but where you stay you are right you could not use a bike or walk , my location gives me every choice above ground your choice leaves your with no choice , water runs down hills not up hills never affected me at all save the rain out of the sky hence my good choice ?

 

Frazers, Bobbys, Italian place , Irish wolfhound and kinnaree all unaffected by storms all could be rode to on a bike, or walked to in minutes 2 restaurants are within 80 yards, your limitations are not mine I never stay in places that flood nor would I buy one ??

 

Your experience of the flood area of Pattaya is not everyone's, you need to remember that.

Yes it has been a nice sunny day, 34 DegC at my place.........

But the app on my phone shows little thunderstorms for tomorrow, Monday and Tuesday. By little I mean 4-5mm on the phone screen. My Mrs seems to think a big storm is coming next week too.

I feel sorry for the people who reside in flood areas, can't be nice all that aggro...

 

Puzzles me why tourists stay in flood areas with the choice, I guess cheapness ?

Eh how is wading through 3 foot water and being trapped in central Pattaya hassle free ?

 

Where is stay is hassle free, and no matter how much it rains I have many restaurants , bars and 7-11s I can get to should I choose ...

VT6 you can get everything without leaving the building and have Central next door.

 

Each to their own. I think that area where you are, is a bit limited. We are all different.

Lol fact in the floods those shops out of milk and many other supplies, as the residents were trapped..

 

Thats living , so are you saying it's good to live where you get flooded in?

 

The clue is in the uk solicitors do surveys ' is it in a flood plane ' lol

 

You could not walk to central it was flooded,,,, still maybe bring waders next trip lol...

 

As the flooding gets worse I can see certain condos will be a problem to sell, I would not buy in a flood areas now a noisy railway line, but some people do lol...

 

Limited is being stuck in a condo ...2 nights , water ran out of stores, still you could boil your own piss or wade in dirty water that's not limiting lol...

 

Better still wade to waking street where it's flooded, leave me being limited sitting in a nice restaurant lol

Current weather radar showing storm just south of Pattaya, hitting Rayong and Trat hardest...storm clouds to the east, but the radar shows a more complete picture I think...

There is a strong "El Nino" present at the moment and is expected to last through into April"ish" next year. That normally means "relative" drought for Thailand, but Typhoons out to the East increase greatly in frequency. Tends to give rise to that dried out condition, interspersed with drastic floods from the remnants of the typhoons.

Only significant weather at the moment is the typhoon up near Taiwan.

No arguing, where flooded flooded where never flooded never flooded,,, no matter what anyone says won't alter it..the water flows the lowest level... There is an irony to that
