Xmas dinner deliveries..

Yep I am starting to make my Xmas Dinner plans!!!

 

One idea I am contemplating is having friends over and getting the turkey and roast spuds cooked then delivered on the day. I have vague memories of seeing this adverstised by some English pubs last year.....

 

So any ideas or recommendations of who to use ( or not use)?

Yes mate exactly...but we are a bunch of lads with families that don't want cooking to interfere with our drinking..

I'm not sure which restaurants deliver Christmas dinner, but last year Big C on Pattaya Klang took orders for whole roast turkeys and all the sides, which is convenient if you are a group of eight people or more. It's no problem to order starters and salads from them, but I don't think they had Christmas pudding. You can get Christmas pudding at Marks & Spencer at Central Festival, though.

 

I'll see if I can dig up a few photos from last year.

Good idea, thanks... I have also sent Punch and Judy a message so lets see what they come back with... Tomorrow I shall be visiting First Class Visa in the QV so shall ask there too....

 

EDIT = I do mean of course that I shall ask at the QV ....not the visa company...!!!

Try http://www.kpkfoods.comThey provide a cook and deliver and carve if necessary service. Not sure about Xmas "gobblers" but would expect them to.

Edit in, They ony deliver the cooked joints etc and not the veg & trimmings so probably not what you are after.

I've read in a few places that there will be a problem with turkey suppliez in Thailand this year. Apparently they aren't importing birds from the USA because of avian flu. You might need to rethink this. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news if this turns out to be the case.

Well it might be. Y'see I come from a big family in the Dorset countryside and an integral part of Xmas day was sitting down as a family and preparing the veggie. I could have a "peel a spud - drink a glass morning"..!!

I went to Big C Pattaya Tai today. The farang butcher that did the Klang turkey cooking last year said they were expecting their turkeys Sept 1st but no imports are allowed as you correctly say...

 

 

So what next... Pizza hut....unless any business owners out there wanna offer a solution...

What's Thanksgiving without turkey? Never had to think about that before.

Other countries, such as Australia and Brazil, export turkeys, so I can't imagine it would be impossible to find a replacement for the banned US birds. However, it may have to do with economies of scale and price. Perhaps it would be too expensive to import birds from any country but the US.

 

I'm a huge fan of turkey and love it for both Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. But if turkey isn't available, I'm happy to eat roast beef or chicken or lamb or pork or ham. It wouldn't be the same as a turkey dinner with all the trimmings, but other meats would do in a pinch if I were celebrating with friends.

Yep.. Stuffing is important to me .. especially chestnut stuffing.. so I guess rolled pork would be the solution....

Capons would be a fair substitute. Do they still have such creatures in these days of water pumped, steroid induced, genetically modified chickens though?

A turkey has a nice long thick neck which I like to nibble into mid morning washed down with a few glasses of port....... and during the meal you can't beat a turkey thigh ...!!

My mother used to get a Capon for Christmas, obviously we do not do Turkey day the same.

It was never a massive family gathering, just us and grandma and a turkey is just too big.

A Capon is a good between, and apparently a better taste than regular chicken.

always had xmas day in patts before ..... was always spoiled for choice

Great for us this year. Me and the Missus have been invited over for Xmas day by a good friend of mine.There will be loads of good food and great company. I dont have to cook, great and we will stay the night. I am not a big fan of xmas but I love the food and drink aspect. I will stock up his drink supply as a way of saying thank you.
