Last time in Bangkok I bought a Chinese Samsung copy Tablet in MBK for £40 (I think)

My friend doesnt have a tablet computer and as were coming straight down to Pattaya from the Airport cant pick one up in Bangkok

Is there anywhere in Pattaya I can pick up one of these Chinese copy tablets for him??

Tukcom in Pattaya South road has a huge number of shops selling original and copy tablets. Very close to the Soi Buakaow intersection with South Road. Have a look at their web site as they often have special offers on at big savings.

Anyone tried those copy tablets ? Experiences ?

I think the OP has. Either he wants to screw over his pal or he really thinks the copy is worth the money. YMMV

I think they are good enough to check my email, read the forum, check the exchange rate, and show porn. So, worth 3000 baht or less. Check the pawn shops, wish I had your hair.

Yes concur, my pal bought one from Tukcom (for about 2000 I think he said) ... It lasted for about 2 days before going tits up, they "sort of" replaced it (another 1000 Baht) and that one was fine for at least the 3 months he required it for, before donating it to a nephew. As with most copy items "hit & miss" :nod

As stated I bought a Samsung Copy Tablet in MBK. Actually I bought two. One for me and one for the wife. One died within a fortnight but the other is still going fine. Its even got a sim card slot and Ive used it for some phone calls. Just one annoying trait is its mind numbing trick of turning itself on for no reason at all. But for £40 its worth it. Im going to pull the other one apart to tale a look inside when I get time.

3 years ago I did by a genuine Samsung Galaxy Mega GT19200 phone in MBK though and that is brilliant as the keyboard is big enough for my sausage like fingers. Its a brilliant bit of kit.

Where have I said I wanted or even intended to 'screw over my pal'. Read the post before engaging your overworked braincell.

Might be worth considering, but possibly not much use to you at this very moment in time, but you can get refurbished 16GB Hudl's on Ebay for £34 plus a fiver delivery and a years guarantee.

Had several from Tuk the only one I still have is a 7" copy which I don't use so much as its slow and just shit really. As for the 10" copy Samsung well the screens on those are so easily broken and the software is not so good. I now have a proper genuine Samsung 4 10" and there is no comparison my advice would be is to buy a second hand genuine Samsung 23 or the gen and it will that fair bit cheaper and you will have something you can depend on.

GF has bought a couple from Tukcom as much cheaper than in the Phillies and the quality is better. After sales service is hit and miss, and this is the biggest problem, not uncommon in Thailand. Eventually she found a very helpful shop and bought a couple from them. She ended up selling in Phillies to friends at a higher price after 6 months and then upgraded to a genuine Samsung, on Tukcom sale at 3,500 baht off.

Ive had a Nexus 10 since they first came out. Superb little Tablet, regular updates and runs every Android app.

Anyways thanks for the comments. Its obviously up to him, not me.

TukCom is way down the food chain of supply. Stuff often outdated and under spec'd

I find very unfair to use generalities to qualify TukCom, seeing that it's just a IT mall center with all sort of IT shops inside.

Yes you have many shops selling counterfeit products; most try to say they are Samsung (with sometime just a sticker in the back) but are bad products, with processors than no one use anymore, with bad quality screen and sometime horrible resolution, with small storage, a low capacity battery,... a bad overall quality. You even don't know what you buy as you can't trust the notice, the package and even the information returned by the cheated system... Ok, they are cheap, very cheap, too cheap! Of course many have no warranty, or 1 month at best. I advise against buying such product (except maybe if you just want read your mails in you hotel and intend to throw it away when you return home ;))

But you will find many good value for money too at prices far lower than Samsung, Apple & Co. They are usually Thai or Chinese real brands. They make their tablets with components 1 or 2 generation old; Still good but far cheaper. Their products are real ones with consistency in how they choose their components. You usually have 6 months warranty. You can find these products on online sites too and so estimate their real price and know what is inside before going to TukCom.

And finally you have some official resellers of big brands (Samsung, Apple, ...) who sell the real products at their official price, so not the best deal/place to buy them.

PS: What is true for tablets probably is true for smartphones too. I have only one experience for phones there, a faked Samsung S4 (?) who turned to be rather good for a 3'000 baht phone. Just its screen hard to read in sun light, and the camera unusable in low light. But it made me happy more than 1 year. :)

A doubter,

Well try a litmus test

Use Everbuying , pick a lastest, bestest, China item and go chase your tail around the TukCom 'mai mee/ mai roo' droles trying to buy it (or even try & find someone on the same page or wavelength of understanding whats actually 'out there' and at what price)

'Official' resellers of gen items at 'full up' prices...try and find one who'll give you an 'official' VAT receipt for refund on departure

The OP wants a shop to pick up items, not a mail order company. Using online delivery whilst on a short holiday visit and delivering to hotels is fraught with problems!

The lesson is YOU DONT COME TO THAILAND to buy, you can do it from where ever you hail from (cheaper, easier, and more up to date)

If you're in a burning and immediate need for a Hello Kitty Phone Cover, last years USB hubs or over priced storage then scamper on down to TukCom.
