Saw today, they were phasing out the baht of the late King, for his son, said April they would be issuing "NEW BAHT" with his likeness, and all the old baht has to be changed over by ???, or they would not be accepted anywhere. Anyone heard a date when the exchange has to happen by ?

THANKX !

A full new set of notes (20, 50, 100, 500, 1000) with the effigy of the new king has been announced and presented already, and should begin to circulate from April-June this year,

but the old/previous king notes will continue to circulate and be valid for many many years (or decades ?) :)

I think the the old notes and the newer old notes will be ok for a some time. As they wear out the banks keep hold of them and so the replacement with the new notes will take time.

I read somewhere that old English fivers lasted less than 2 years compared to the 50 pound note that lasts (redesigns notwithstanding) around 40 years.

I reckon the old king 20 bts will die out first and then probably the rest in 'change hands frequency' order.......50,100.1000. I haven't read anywhere yet of planned legal-tender limitations but things change...Sure to be plenty of notice if they do

As an aside the Orgazmotron gave me commemorative 70 and 80 baht notes of the last King which I'll hold on to.
