EVA Air Delux Class

Recommended Posts

Has anyone here flown EVA Airways' Evergreen Delux class ? Is it like flying business class of other airlines as they claimed on their web page ? Any inputs/reviews are greatly appreciated.

Thanks

It's a business class seat with economy class meals.

Having been used to United Airlines meals the economy class means on EVA seemed tremendous to me. They are even better than United's First Class meals.

I highly recommend Evergreen Deluxe.

I only fly Eva and I always fly in Evergreen Deluxe. Evergreen Deluxe is very comfortable, great service, cute flight attendants  and at a reasonable price. I think Evergreen Deluxe is better than any 1st class here in America. I highly recommend Evergreen Deluxe.

The seats are about the comfort of some other airlines business class, quite ok for the price. The food is the same as in their economy which is quite excellent I would say. Only thing is that the inflight entertainment is a bit out of date, but well, that's not a big drawback.

I have heard that they don't offer deluxe class on the routes from/to Vienna anymore though, is that true?

Staff is very friendly too.

cheers

I have flown EVAs Evergreen Deluxe class many times and have just booked them for my trip in November. The seats are in the front of their 747s in a 2-4-2 configuration (2-2 at the very front) and have a 37-inch pitch.

If you are over 6 feet or 200 lbs then Evergreen Deluxe is worth every penny. I have been upgraded to business class and the food though fancier is not as good.

If you are looking for an inexpensive business class seat on the transpacific portion of your trip consider getting Cathay Pacifics All-Asia pass and purchasing the business class upgrade. I did that last year and it was wonderfull.

I forgot to add, consider Singapore Air's new Executive class. It has new seats with similar spacing to EVA, for about the same price. I think it is only available on flights out of LAX until more planes get upgraded.

kjvegas..

I never really thought about EVA until recently. I've about had it with UA/NWA and there service/prices. So, I just pulled the string on a trip for Jan 2005 @ $628.50 out of LAX. The price was a surprise and I couldn't resist it. Going in Sept 2004 also, but that is already arranged

I'm hoping this "tip" is as good as the one you gave me for a hotel {Queen Vic}. I really enjoy that place..!

You'll like Eva and the flight attendants are very cute. :beer I ordered my tickets on Friday afternoon at eva.com and they just arrived today with DHL. I couldn't fly NWA again because I am scared to death of the flight attendants, they all look like Linda Trip before her sex change, I am fairly certain Linda Trip was once a man, :beer that is one large mammel.

I agree with the prior posters about Evergreen Deluxe. The extra room and that you can raise a foot rest are really nice on the long haul across the Pacific. The food is good. I've upgraded by flight coupons to Business a couple of times. I must say I liked Business a lot, the food is fancier and the seats are more comfortable, but Evergreen Deluxe is a far better deal. Also, that you don't have to wait in line at the check-in counter behind half of Taiwan waiting at the economy counter with carts piled high with boxes and luggage. :banghead

:D I hope that as more people become aware of EVA that we can still get seats. :banghead

Hub,

I paid the following:

Basic All Asia $699.00

US Tax Depart SFO $46.40

HKG security transit $12.60

Biz class trans pac $2,198.00

$2,956.00

Last year they were selling the basic All Asia at $200 less than this year.

I went to the Phillipines, Hong Kong and Thailand. My one trip into Vietnam was not on this ticket.

Even with the extra $200 this would be competitively priced with EVAs business class for a round trip to Thailand, but Hong Kong to Manilla, Manilla to Hong Kong, Hong Kong to Bangkok and Bangkok to Hong Kong were in Cathay's cattle class.

cybers1b,

The Vienna routes are now operated using A330 aircraft which only have two classes - economy and premium laurel (uprated biz class).

There website was very easy to use and I had it all done in about 1 min. Had an E-Mail confirmation within 5 min. Also joined there FF Program over the Internet and had a membership number assigned. I went economy class this time and will try Deluxe on the next trip

Having booked Eva and Evergreen deluxe for the first time for my next two trips in October and Feb I was very pleased to read the comments in this thread.

Prior to picking up the odd references to Eva in this forum I had never even heard of this Airline. Their quotes on the web are really competitive and taking the upgrade only makes them marginally dearer than most other Airlines economy fare.

EVA air deluxe is very good value but it is not business class. In terms of seat size and pitch it is half way between economy and long haul business class. At the moment EVa have good deals on all classes, certainly from the uk. I recently flew business class for £1075 plus tax LHR BKK return, and they are currently offering FIRST class for £1300, less than half the price of business class on BA

I got to fly PLC from BKK to TPE. Cost me 15k miles but was worth it. I don't know if I'll upgrade on the next trip through. I read the economy seats on the 330 are wider than the the cattle class seats in the 747.

Would I be right in guessing that EVA's Evergreen Deluxe is about the same as United's Economy Plus? The seat pitch seems to be about the same, maybe an inch more. I don't know about the width, though. Are the Evergreen Deluxe seats wider than regular economy?

Trvlr,

Evergreen is in a 2-4-2 seat configuration in the main cabin as opposed to 3-4-3 in economy. That said, they have fixed armrests in Evergreen so no great bonus if the seat(s) next to you are empty.

Thanks Tom.

Sounds like the seats have an extra four inches or so of width, which is pretty good. That seem about right to you?

At 6-2 and 220lbs I can fly comfortably in these seats LAXTPE (while economy would be a nightmare). They are definitely not as nice as intercontinental biz, more like typical domestic first class. Definetly a little wider than econ. I treat it as:

. econ = no way

. delux = fine

. biz = very nice, but not worth spending cash on

Note that despite the extra pitch, the aisle (and middle) passengers can not get in/out w/o disturbing the aisle passenger (due to the fact the seats recline more than std econ.). BUT, there are 10 seats with noboby in front of you, and these are real good if available (though the 2 aisle seats behind the foward doors have somewhat restricted legroom).

Short answer, it's a very good deal.

Guys

What are the best seats to try and get in evergreen, or is there little to choose between them. I normally go for a aisle seat so i can get up and walk about as and when i want.

step,

EVA has four different seat configurations on its 747s, all of which appear on the London-Bangkok route.

The different seating plans are shown here:

EVA 747 Seating Plans

You can pre-select your seat up to 100 days in advance by calling their reservations on 0207 380 8300.

Regards,

See www.evaair.com -> AboutEva -> CorporateProfile -> FleetFacts for seat configs.

For 747's with Evergreen Delux up front on lower deck, the good seats are in order:

24 D/G, 26 D/G, 27 C/H : Aisle/Nothing in front of you

27 D/H : Aisle/Nothing in front of you (but middles must climb over you somewhat)

20 C/H : Aisle/Bulhead in front, some extra legroom

20 A/K : Window/Bulkhead some extra legroom (egress easier than other windows)

27 A/K : ??? Windor/door sticks out into your legroom, might be annoying, don't know

Other than that, take (in order) 21,22,23,25,24 C/H as they are aisles with more aisle room (no 4x middle seats, less crowding by people walking by, quiter).

Thumbs up on the Delux calss - seats are great in comfort, size and reclinability. Food is also good and plentiful. Plus the overhead compartments are huge - I always do carry-on (you don't need much for Thailand) and the EVA website has some drastic weight restrictions posted for carry-on but I have never had a problem- even thanked twice by the check-in attendants for having no check in bags.

Seat selection go for the ones as close to the front as possible - many have no center seats making for extra wide isles. Plus this area of the plane in the most quiet (that is why they put first class their for most other non 747 planes) It is amazing the difference between the first 6-8 rows and the rest of the plane - check it out next time you're flying. Hardly needed my noise canceling headphones.
