  1. You must have meant for the driving licence, because you sure do need them for the residence certificate. I was also required to supply a copy of the stamp in my passport where the old, but still active (due to extensions), Non-Imm-O was transferred into the new passport. The residence certificate was issued afer a short wait, no need to return later or the next day, as some sources claim. Perhaps that varies depending how busy they are. I told them I was just renewing my car drivng licence, they asked, I felt they were trying to get me to pay for two residence certificates. The one is 300 baht. In and out about 30 minutes, including 90-day reporting. Well done Jomtiem immigration. Driving licences, Thursday.
  2. Photos are only mentioned for the residence certificate, are you saying immigration take their own now? (It is a long long time since I got a residence certificate... even 5 years back when I last did driving licence renewals, didn't need one back then).
  3. A good dump sometime today and it will all be a wallet draining memory. It actually sounds very good, did you wear your best socks and sandals?
  4. For the residence certificate or for the licence? My list for later this week is... Residence Certificate.... 2 color pics Original passport Original proof of address.... rental contract, (I usually bring my phone bill and a copy of it) Signed copies of:- passport photo page visa stamped in passport (extension in my case) with last admission stamp. TM6 card. Complete form TM 18. They also wanted a signed copy of the stamp in my passport where the original Non-Imm O was transferred into my new (at the time) passport.. The residence certificate was issues after a short wait as they were not busy. All this is detailed here, Key Visa, with a source for the form too.. Then for the driving Licence(s): Passport. Old licences. Copies of old licences, front and back. Residence certificate. Original and copy (2 if applying for 2 licences). One copy was returned to me. Passport face page 2 copies signed. TM 6 Card copies 2 off signed. (Not required, instead 2 signed copies of my most recent retirement extension stamps needed) Sign all your copies! I am told no medical cert for my 5 year renewal, you should take one along. Not required for my 5 year renewal. Kudos to BM InternationalTraveler for the information he supplied in this post and thread. Later Edit: I have come back to this post to reflect what I actually ended up needing , it also now differs from what International Traveler posted.
  5. King Arthur
  6. Officially it's the rainy season.... weather has improved!

  7. Is there a deductable on the 1st Class Insurance, and if so how much is it?
  8. You will figure it out in time, also might depend on which version of Android you are using. Obviously when a memory card is in there and being seen.. I have to select 'Camera', then Settings (a cogwheel) Scroll down to 'Storage Location' etc For moving things you may need to download a file manager App unless you have one already.
  9. We have to keep up that image of whinging POMS. Truck at the garage, at home with a cold beer now.
  10. Yes, the 2 lightening hits were aggravating, and the dentist issue has been expensive too, with a couple of failed but expensive routines and painful nights of little sleep. The latest, a root canal, is 15,000 baht then a crown on top a further 8-10,000 baht. Have a good outing.. sounds classy!
  11. I am sure the GMAWLTF will love the new TV! Personally going through some hell at the moment as my truck would not start this morning. Was due to go on a beer run and take the cat to the vet! A Ford tech arrived at the house and couldn't do anything, now arranging to get it towed to Laem Chabang. This is arranged by calling Ford in Bangkok, who will probably book a tow truck I have seen near the house to come get me, I will have to pay 2100 baht before the truck is even sorted, and I bet the guy would have towed it the 12km for 500 baht had I gone directly to him. This has been a hellish month for expenses, one being getting the damned ttruck serviced in the first place, and this is the second issue since! Next week I have dentists, trip to immigration, renew driving licences and was to spend Friday night in town for the Firework Festival and Big Ass or whatever concert! Have I enough beer and will my cat die? Should I have spent that cool million on the new truck I was viewing while waiting for mine to be screwed up?
  12. Hi Butch, fun read. I wasn't sure until the last paragraph whether this was a positive or negative review of the shop! I have been here too long and all that 'Thainess' might have got my gander up! I bought my last phone at Jaymart in the Central Festival Beach Rd, the service was quite good there and I liked that they had a guy with good English. No need to see any passport stuff as it was a straight SIM swap to the new phone. They too stuck these things to the phone that protect it making me wait ages as he did a great job without any bubbles under them, but I was buying a Samsung specific hard see through cover and it was unnecessary and they got peeled off when I got home. A little gay box of goodies came with it too. Only aggravation was that the protective cover I bought they got from the Samsung dealer a few shops away and they tried to rip me off with a high price. If a Thai doesn't try to rip you off here each week you aren't going anywhere. Is your shop what used to be the Sony Centre? VAT may explain some of the difference in price, 7% in Thailand, 20% in the UK, also the phones are often different model numbers with slight spec differences. The EU forces them to make sure they don't burst into flames in your pocket, Thailand isn't as fussy. Enjoy the new phone.
  13. Seen his face a lot recently as I have been watching 'Sons of Anarchy'... he has covered his Geordie accent well. Children of Men
  14. The Manchester one I used last year wasn't too bad.... no where near as good as Emirates of course. Previously Qatar had a little place that was poor! And I just checked on the price for a Biz Class Emirates A380 flight to and from Manchester and the best price was THB 121,400 .... shit! Later Edit: I just looked at the Qatar site and a flight to/from Manchester in Biz from UTP end August/Sept, it came in substantially more than Emirates from Swampy!
  15. Thanks, sounds a little less attractive if the extra stopover is to be standard. Wonder if there is a nice lounge with cold beer at UTP as per Swampy. Prepared to tell us the price? Ah yes, you told us already Actually still might be worth considering, Emirates want about 107,000!!
  16. I couldn't find that comment but found this from the FT. Some 34 aircraft are on the ground at the moment and this could rise to about 50 in the coming weeks, a person with knowledge of the subject said. To deal with the increased disruption, Rolls-Royce has now tripled the number of engines it can fix at any one time to about 20. Rolls-Royce will also announce that it has been able to bring forward a permanent fix for the IP compressor blades from the beginning of 2019 to the back end of this year.
  17. Getting a bit of it in the UK. Mother of all thunderstorms’ hits Britain as lightning strikes ‘15,000 to 20,000 times’ The Metro.
  18. Agents don't listen, They will show you properties that are new when you specify second hand. Ones in different areas than you specified. And certainly ones where there is more money to be made. Then look at you as if you are the difficult one. Obviously the owners want to rent from as soon as possible or soon after a previous tenant leaves, and why should they hold it for you for free. Maybe the places will still be available. August is not usually busy.
  19. I was chatting with Frosty the other night as I too see some issues. I have noticed when I post, it someimes takes ages to come back showing the new post. Then I spot a spelling or typo mistake and try to edit my post, and it comes back as empty after I hit edit! A page redresh usually recovers it. We are running an old version of Invision or whatever the Forum software is and perhaps we need to upgrade. I notice more double posts out there than in the past.
  20. Cold Mountain. (3rd time mentioned now)
  21. You don't smell all that bad!
  22. When does that start to happen? I watched SE02 Episodes 1-3 and it was like watching paint dry. Based on your post I just watched episode 4, and it was tedious!
  23. Regularly the black clouds drift over at midday, it rumbles and flashes and we get wet!

  24. A local lad ....from near where I was born, although he lost his accent! Cromwell.
  25. Because the Tobacco monopoly is state owned!
