I tend to lose track of notes or drop them when I have them dotted around, ham fisted. The 10 baht coins just seemed to be right. I usually only need to get up Beach Rd and back down 2nd. Baht buses appear to be a major cause of congestion and perhaps limiting their operation is a good idea, What I fear is them becoming scarce and only available for private hire like many other Thai towns. Pattaya is easy to get around cheaply purely due to them... bloody Phuket you need 300 baht to do 100m! Large coaches also cause traffic problems.

You make a good point, if the fare increases to 20 baht the first problem I have is now I have to get my wallet out for a note! We need 20 baht coins. As far as a tip is concerned I guess I will have to hand over 2 notes or just give him a round 100 baht! Never seem to have the 50s.

Do you not also have a local bank account? I would suggest seeing a lawyer and taking his advice, and suggest having a Thai will drawn up containing all your assets. Yes it would require probate for assets to be transferred. A judge's signature is required. A free discussion with a lawyer could be had at one of the Expats Clubs. A will can be drawn up for between 2-10,000 baht.

I recall hiring a jet ski from Jomtiem in the early 80's and riding around the promontory between there and Pattaya. Spotting a small beach I landed and had a nice liaison with the lady on the back! We are losing these romantic secluded areas!

I had my neighbour over gossiping and she was convinced something she read suggested this new visa was a replacement for extensions obtained in Thailand. I said I did not agree, and many people are getting the terminology wrong and creating such a false impression. Your link goes along with what I believe. There being a desire to rid Thailand of retired people, who do not really have the funds,or supplement their limited incomes here is another rumour often repeated, never validated..

Well they most certainly are still issuing retirement and marriage extensions within Thailand.

That is actually pretty good, using the check up results to get a better insurance package and possibly remove exclusions. High BP often brings forth a whole host of exclusions which in reality, if under control and medicated, is surely less risk than not.

Yes they normally have a King's Birthday special, sadly I chucked the flyer away. One option is a pretty comprehensive all day thing.
