  1. That is true....... coming from LK.
  2. Twenty seconds wasted.
  3. 006 is via the True network and is what I use with my True SIM card. To a mobile for example it is 6 baht/min to the UK...probably +tax.
  4. Yes, thanks for pointing that out to me, but actually I had it upside down when dialling!
  5. 4G has been rolled out in Bangkok by DTAC, and True, also have Chiang Mai and KK. Here is a map for True. suggesting it is widespread.
  6. But not the floor where there is a big number 1!
  7. Well in Pattaya banter MP is Massage Parlour, of course there may be the other type in there particularly those employing LBs......
  8. I may seem stupid but I don't take the bike with me if I will be having a drink, I know what I am like, in that once 3 beers is reached the next pause will be 15. Then I cannot be trusted to make decisions...... I bring her on the back and tell her to take it away.
  9. Yes, 1-2-Call is AIS PAYGo Pretty sure you will be able to get a SIM in baggage claim as before, if not there the 7-11 will have them. Not sure what the registration procedure will be, I have a pal flying in today and I told him to get one. Who to recommend, some say DTAC for coverage but if you are staying in Pattaya it doesn't matter much. Read this maybe.
  10. Oh you won't miss their adds..... the dancing guys paying their bill and the rather fit girl finding her house has changed while she was in it. They are screwing around with the channels right now as I can see it on S21/303MHz. The channel on your TV are likely allocated sequentially on scan, I have moved all mine around to group them together by type and language, and they are screwing up my efforts lately. I haven't paid my annual bill yet and they are trying to get me to pay 600 baht extra for some box to get some HD available now, so either they are pushing digital down their cable now as well as all the analog channels or it is on their internet/intranet...whatever. I am sure they will sort it.... I shall watch the News on Pattaya People!
  11. Of course USA guys and UK guys use different terminology, 1st to them is ground to us...... And 1st to us is 2nd to them. The Pattaya Mail once said... The new AIS Shop, opened on the mall’s ground floor - : http://www.pattayamail.com/business/ais-opens-new-outlet-at-central-festival-18558#sthash.vlGfI1EB.dpuf And the Mall itself says it is on the Ground floor, you know, where there is a big 'G' at the escalator. Source.
  12. Might help to know which satellite or cable network you are using! I have Golf with no audio on S25/335 MHz on Sophon analog. Sports channels have been screwed with lately.
  13. A neighbour recently took this action, a well known Estate agent in town said selling was unlikely and he managed to secure a rental to someone working here from a nearby country. A darned good rent too I might add.
  14. I thought I was on the ground floor!
  15. Soi Bua khao end of Soi Honey Inn.
  16. Of course, for the Arabs, the numbers are not in their language. Despite them being called Arabic numerals. They should all be sent outside to use those orange top-up machines ........ I have wondered if I could convert my Pre-paid SIM to post paid (contract. I guess), keeping the number. When I first got it, 11 years ago now, it suited me, and foreigners could not get contracts.
  17. Good advice.... so far I am following it.
  18. Well personally I don't waste other people's time as it is 3 clicks on my smart phone to top up from my bank account. The last time I bought one of those slips, I was confounded by the fact that the writing was far too small for me to read.....
  19. A little harsh, the slips are in Thai and the tourist perhaps doesn't understand English too. Much more disturbing at Big-CX after queueing for 15 minutes with 3 items and the lady before you. 1) Hasn't got her purse out and can't find it. 2) Starts counting out small coins to reach the odd amount. 3) Checks the bill and asks the teller something maybe incorrect. 4) Belatedly remembers the discount coupons she has. 5) The falang guy's wife in-front arrives with 10 more items in her arms and Q-jumps. I feel better too now.
  20. One way to getting into town is to come in on the motorway, you can get onto Suk north and Southbound. An option with Soi Siam CC being closed off. I had some very slow trips down North Rd due to heavy traffic, last Thursday for example, compounded by market and heavy traffic on Beach Rd. I also got a good drenching on Monday, followed by riding through heavy traffic and flood water on Beach Rd between Soi 6 and 10. Then last night, fearing the worst, I set off at 7pm to get to Soi Bongkot by 8....... from Hwy 36/Suk area, in the truck. I was there too early at 7.30pm! Quite easy going on Sukhumvit/North Rd, and 3rd Rd. Not sure if the holiday affected things or people are just staying home!
  21. To free up a hand?
  22. I haven't seen them although I have only gone through the Premium Channel for a few years in BKK. Seeing the regular queues for foreigners something to speed it up is required. I was wondering if the percentage there that are foreign residents is sufficient to cause an improvement. I certainly was unimpressed in Manchester having rushed from the aircraft to get ahead and have the gadgetry fail on me and have to join the back of the queue!
  23. And just to remind us, Pattaya has flooding!
