  1. All well and good... but there is always that very very slight chance and worry, that when you check in for your outward (to BKK) flight, and they see that your return is scheduled beyond the 30 days, and no visa is present in your passport, will they let you board??????
  2. Further to my comment on prices. There is another new place opened on the railway line bypass rd. Heading North, about 200m beyond the water tower junction (Khaomaikaew Rd/3240) on your left. Large carpark...... named A. Aroy. Nicely laid out, mostly outdoor, everything obviously new, play area for kids. (Kids running around a slight distraction.) Nice crockery and the food very tasty and well presented....... The 5 jumbo shrimp were perfectly cooked and very tasty in a coconut milk sauce.... but didn't look very big on the large plate. 500+ baht for just that dish. Seafood is going up-market.
  3. I have never needed mine.
  4. Once you get out of Pattaya, ie cross over Sukhumvit, (East Side) forget about public transport. If you insist, you might find a gang of motorcycle taxi guys grouping somewhere near where you live, or you have to keep a few phone numbers and they will come get you. Sadly that is where the cheaper rental accommodation is. Internet is available, pretty much everywhere....I have 3 ISPs in my area.
  5. No point comparing prices to Darwin.... try buying a carport in London! The picture is a condo in Bang Saray isn't it? There will be A LOT of condos coming on-line in the next 12 months, what do you think that will do to rents and the resale market. I did a quick search and the only condo under a mil I saw was a studio of 28 sq metres. It is a rabbit hutch.
  6. Well her and the old guy who goes around sharpening knives maybe.
  7. They just found a corpse on the roof of this place!!! Body of female found in plastic bag on roof of South Pattaya French Restaurant Pattaya One News
  8. Strong sun and heat expected.

  9. I am glad you posted personal experience losgrad. I was in town yesterday and I spotted a few guys riding push bikes around (maybe you) and it made me think a bit..... I don't see it as any more dangerous than a motorbike, particularly around central Pattaya/beach rd etc. Of course NOT Sukhumvit, There aren't dog packs on Beach rd or Klang. And as to a night out, well of course, like a motorbike, it should be left at home. My missus wanted one to go to the nearby market, so in the rural areas it can work too. She takes a route away from the dog packs. Funny that, when Thailand was poor you never saw one, but they are common these days, I see packs of riders heading up the Railway line bypass quite often.
  10. When are you coming? I wouldn't live budget in April/May. The advert wall in the BIgC-X Mall.
  11. Doesn't matter... Danny Glover.
  12. I would have put it on my phone but I guess Kev and Frosty have more money than me.
  13. Charlie's Angels
  14. If any off the cell phones were able to ping a network, it is extremely likely that the whereabouts would be known. Of course that is not going to happen at 35,000 ft nor in the middle of the ocean.
  15. It is stated in the second sentence of the provided link...... more accurately.
  16. Quite a lot of the cheaper Economy Class tickets offer reduced or perhaps even no airmiles ex Europe. I also think there is quite a difference on how it works with the US Carriers and US based guys... better deals there. Sure if you fly a lot with your work you can do real well, but I don't, that also means I really don't use a Credit Card that often for big ticket items... a First Class ticket I bought last year was too much for all but my Amex... no miles! As I pay for my own air-tickets I would rather save £200 than limit myself to a more expensive carrier just for the mileage.... I struggle to make them one and the same. And I only fly long-haul 2 times a year round trip these days... so I tend to focus on price.
  17. There seems to be more focus on the pilot today and his support of Anwar Ibrahim who was recently convicted by the Malaysian 'Courts'.
  18. Yes I do live here.
  19. A lot have expired for me, so they were worthless. And the value of them decreases frequently. What use is a one way trip if you need to get back. Availability of mileage tickets... well it is quite poor, I rarely find anything that fits. Perhaps the USA carriers do better. But they don't in the cabin, I was once given a plastic cup of Pepsi and some peanuts, pathetic!.
  20. The assumed flight path I saw, indicated Southern Thailand was overflown too. And it may have flown close to Phuket........ and not too far from Haad Yai, both International Airports.
  21. Is that the shop on Second Rd just before the Dolphin restaurant.
  22. Yeah, Bush, now it's Obama........
  23. Are you renting the place long term? First check with the building management, some do not allow you to fit items like this as the strong wind can rip them free and suddenly you have a deadly projectile. I have fitted bamboo roller blinds (also another type where the blind has a concertina effect to retract it), which keep the sun off my window in the morning and terrace in the afternoon. I bought them from a place on Sawang Fah, on the left just before you reach Naklua Rd. If you turn left there, at NumChai heading towards Dolphin, about 200m just after the RED booze shop, there is a curtain store that also sells various blinds. Here Google Maps.
  24. Yeah well in the 'Western World ' 3 out of 4 aircraft achieved their targets and NONE of them was blown out of the sky. If data was being received from the Engines 5 hours after the transponders went off, and presuming that data indicates 'in flight', the aircraft was pretty close to it's limits fuel wise.
