You seem to have confirmed my point about where the profit lies yet still argue? I have done my share of economy flights too... that is why I do Business if I can get a price I can accept. I have also been in cancelled flights position, and let me tell you, how one is treated varies greatly on the class of ticket. I think the staff are told to be extra helpful.... always recall a change of heart when a BA agent realized my ticket was Club World.... the pompous ass nearly fell at my feet. I don't travel much nowadays so FF benefits are not applicable, and you don't get any on cheap Economy tickets anyhow, Also I don't like having to stick to a particular carrier either, reduces ones choice. Usually blip between Emirates and Qatar, the former is a great flight in Biz. I will pull back the curtain one day, tip my glass of champers your way, and look down my nose at you!

You travel with family, I travel alone.... makes a difference in total cost.... You are also cheap!

There is far more to the differences than sitting 30m further forward, and if one has the money, you are not throwing any bonking away whatsoever. With the recent horror events that have been occurring in the UK at Manchester airport, there are examples of what happens when you travel cheap. I have had some miserable experiences in Economy with long haul...... and dislike the way you are treated, herded like sheep. long lines etc etc. The difference in price is excessive though in my mind..... Economy Class should be more expensive, and the burden of profit not be on Premium.... But it is what it is..... I was spoiled in my days when I worked, as the company flew me up front.....

There are still a couple of condo buildings being finished off around Baku so I expect when they are done they will dig it up towards Buakhao then. That will be a mess and I use that cut through quite a bit.... those businesses from The Hideaway, Tum massage, Thai Visa Express, will be severely impeded for a while then... And the rainy season is all but upon us!

I actually was there yesterday and could see some stretches' appeared to be getting levelled off for road resurfacing.... there is no issue from Buakhao to the corner at the 7-11.

The one time I used Finnair, the leg from Bangkok to Helsinki on the A350 was fine. The hop down from there to Manchester was horrible, some budget associated carrier (Biz Class by the way). Late arrival and I saw the Lake district half a dozen times so perhaps not their fault. Too oten if I use European carriers it is the short leg that is the aggravation with rushed connections in madhouse airports. Always had a preference for 2x6hr via the Middle East...... from Manchester you have to change somewhere. I did not do the return leg on Finnair due to a family issue.... that led to another saga of trying to get a refund from Expedia!

It's saving grace (The Merlin) was the large garden and pool area, but as I said, having pre-paid they insisted on a joiner fee. The rooms were rather cramped too I recall. I was put onto a place further North near the International Hospital owned by PIC or PIH, or PIK, that had like bungalows that was more liberal. Thinking back, like RhinoTusk, it may have been 600 baht! I had a similar time when I stayed at that tower place at Pattaya Park, they had security knocking on my door at midday (I unplugged the phone) insisting I paid a new days joiner fee as I tried to sleep late. Threw away 3-4 days of pre-paid room booking there. The walk down Soi 8 is a depressing thing these days, but soi Buakhao has picked up a lot.

You caused me some mental grief.... I recall that building before it became Hard Rock, but for the life of me could not remember the old name. It opened as Hard Rock around 2001 or so after substantial renovation, but I had stayed there prior and had foolishly pre-paid in Bangkok for several nights there.... That was my early days and I was a bit green around the edges, and stupidly feared arriving in Pattaya and not being able to find a room..I used to be straight on the razz, so used an agent near Nana. The hotel hit me with a joiner fee which I think was 500 baht... could have found an alternative hotel for that price and got change back then. I actually woke up in the middle of the night trying to recall the old name.... mulling through the alphabet. I have never since stayed at Hard Rock, I held a grudge! The old name was Merlin Hotel. IIRC only upstairs was gong when I last went... or perhaps I was so used to simply going straight there! Punters were in such short supply, naked girls were stood looking bored on stage.... some barely clothed were wandering around and being direct.. and a few LDS got you close company and you got hands on. A deliberate avoidance of eye contact you experienced is perplexing.... perhaps they suspended bar-fining to keep girls in house....

Thank you, I was wondering about Kink and had not heard any mention of it. Last time I was in there (during that small hiatus between Covid closures), I really got some attention.... not an inexpensive experience, they were desperate!! The 'new guys' are perhaps not new to the girls.

Correct officially.... one had to basically kill off the O-A and do as you say. Although over Covid I was told this was possible, at a price. A lot of accommodations were made over covid.... the volunteer extension might be an example.

Coincidentally traffic issues on Buakhao were mentioned today on Asean Now/ Thai Visa, and the blocking of traffic in front of Treetown particularly, parked vehicles being blamed. My issue is usually the parked bikes are so close one cannot access places from the road.... tumbling amongst half a dozen motorcycles after several beers will get those Thai outstretched compensation palms waving. At the moment they are shut (or playing games), and past good venues may not be the ones of the future, they have been shut over a year. The Windmill, Dollhouse, Beavers, Pinups, were past Walking St popular targets, Kinks on LK Metro was well ahead of others. A lot has changed in the intervening time and to be honest, I am not sure it will ever compare to its past highs. ,
