Yes it has been all over the News, mentioned in Thailand too. Cancelled the London-BKK flights through to October 2022. Apparently allowing transfers of those with bookings onto Qatar.

We get a lot of complaints here when anyone tries to get bargains from the girls in these hard times, but here we see they do it to their own. I mean, 3000 baht/month, and so many hours. I also had a chat to an MPG recently, who was unusually stern and wanted to predefine prices in advance, which was unusual.... transpires she had been poorly paid the day before when she failed to do that. Hard times.... Saw a few suitcases on wheels being dragged about yesterday... people are arriving in town.

The money needs to be deposited into a Thai bank nowadays.... unless you can get an Embassy letter. People are required to show a deposit of 65,000 baht every month for 12 months. Not sure how many deposits one has to show if this is a first time application rather than a renewal. An agent would likely pursue the 800.000 on deposit method, as they can arrange that.

Obviously Villas usually look for longer term rentals, but you may find some owners are sub-letting on a shorter term basis on sites like AirBnB.... then there are those owned and rented out by businesses, Secrets used to have one.

That is such a sad thought... despite the club having been closed for over 7 months, she clings to the memory of the place that provided her with employment and income....

Perhaps I misled you... but I live well out of town to the North and have always preferred getting things done in the A.M.... travelling home in school traffic and the likelihood of being told 'come back tomorrow' being the reasons. I see they are managing to foist the need to pay for 2 certificates on you... a money making exercise for a service that has no official price... it is not so long since I achieved 2 licences with a single residence certificate. I have 2 jobs I will be needing to do there in December and I certainly do not look forward to it.. even tempted to get an agent myself.

Usual advice is midweek about 10am..... avoid days after a holiday. I have used a single original Residence Certificate every time for 2 licences, renewed at the same time... although Jomtien try to sell you two..

I very much doubt it. The flight to Samui will leave from the Domestic terminal and you would be expected to clear immigration and Covid checks in Bangkok. At the moment that includes an overnight stay to wait for the results of a Covid clear test.

I worked in Poland years ago and was attending some function at a Civic building and wandered into a large room where a small kid was playing this huge grand piano with some teacher watching. It was astounding and I stopped to listen for a while...

I certainly have not got a modern water meter here. Even when it stopped working a gnarly old guy just messed with it rather than replace it. Don't see much point trickling water, my usual monthly bill is only around 45 baht and my Mrs spends all day flushing toilets and running taps. Switching the water off if away for several days also protects my pump as I expect the tank could run dry and I have no idea if there is a cut out or other safety feature. Had a snake get in there a few months back and it locked the pump up for a while, got bloody hot, but didn't cut out. Unwound the small snake and it worked after.

I got a Qatar A380 ex BKK some years back..... the aircraft was brand new and one great flight in Biz Class.
