  1. I always figured Bolt prices were a loss leader and would, given time, increase to be closer to Grab levels. Then along came Covid and things were no longer simple. Well here we are and Bolt still offers absolute bargains..... and scrounging by drivers for more has been near non existent... and it has been left to me to where I round up the payment. Only once, a driver was some 5km from the pick up and he messaged for an extra 60 baht to compensate... young lad of course. May Bolt remain in its present form for many years.....a Godsend!
  2. My favourite whipping boy, the Klang pavement, again demonstrates your life and safety is no big deal, as a pedestrian in Pattaya.
  3. Interesting that you get to choose your poison. brand. Moderna is free too?
  4. It has done well to survive so long...... Sukhumvit into town, coming from the North has 2 lots of road works now....with the Railway Line Bypass being closed North of Waterworks Rd, and increasing traffic it can be slow heading into town. At weekends the Motorway is busy.
  5. Don't see Waves too often but there are a couple of places on 3rd Rd... one is here... https://goo.gl/maps/WXPK3x5BKru72N4G9 walk on further down 3rd for a couple more places on the same side. I bought my Mrs a second hand Suzuki Step back in 2006 down there, still going strong at 83,000 km plus.. it gets a lot of use! Avoid anything a boy racer has added gaudily coloured bits onto!
  6. I second Pool Hustler,,, rented to my neighbour recently for months on end. Sure he has a special long term rate.
  7. They apparently have two teams, one is unskilled, rip it up and dig holes labourers, the other slightly more skilled at laying tiles. One team is bigger than the other.....the latter I think non-existent.
  8. Pattaya Klang? Not usually a place for bars. I took a stroll down a good section of Klang yesterday and did not notice it.... a pic might be a good idea.
  9. Pattaya Klang pavement has been a construction saga and frankly a ruddy great mess for a long time. But they got the Cambodian ladies out there now so maybe progress will be rapid... or maybe not. That doesn't look so bad.... Ah, a little bit more to do. Still could twist an ankle here. Or break a neck.
  10. The new place in town, looking more as per it's name. The soi 15/2nd Rd work is still ongoing... but it has not moved towards Buakhao (yet-Hideaway must be dreading that), but work seems to be mostly filling in and tidying up on the other side down from The Centara. Still little bit to do... bury the odd motorcycle maybe. And the beach, on a humid and sticky day....
  11. I would expect they have well given up that Bistro nonsense now. They used to have special 100 baht bottles before 9.00 I think it was, good starter place.
  12. Hmm not a good sign. Online sales was supposed to reduce these sellers who actually gouge people on prices... although middlemen might be the problem. Was at a Pa Boons restaurant the other day and was pestered 3 times by hawkers, 2 lottery and one jasmine garlands. The old Seinfeld line came to me... 'I will buy some later when I come round to your place, what time do YOU eat?'
  13. The sofas in Baccara look pretty good compared to the parrot perches that seem to be the norm there. I still have not even visited Treetown..... Thx for the pics.
  14. I have always felt road markings were a waste of paint here.
  15. I'll put that in the general requirement of 'Driving like I twat' shall I?
  16. Yes I took a pic and posted it yesterday....but you got the angle better.....that is HV up there. Tempted to go give that supporting girder a kick?
  17. I noticed people were parking in the yellow boxes on 2nd Rd too, also on the pedestrian crossings. 'Parking like a dickhead' is a special section required during the Thai driving licence test. Any thoughts as to what a few others might be?
  18. You must be on the wrong street... plenty of opportunity to break a limb or neck this morning! Not much business for the 'girls' at the MPs opposite the 7-11. Would you walk through, or lean on the support. Thai construction at it's best.
  19. Yes I saw the report of this incident and am glad you mentioned it. Shoddy, but this is what you get here......might take a look at the weekend but have been avoiding it tbh.
  20. That type of thing happens in a few Caribbean Places. I was on Aruba once and staying at a good hotel.... this place was impressive with a bit of a lagoon and canal into the lobby, and a launch would pick you up from there and take you to their private beach, which I think was on a spit of land running parallel to the coast. The approach to the airport was over that spit and you could enjoy the same experience of a jet flying just over your head. What a nice weekend, with a Venezuelan girl who was a recent graduate and was doing a bit of time at the power station I was at!
  21. One has to assume the work will move towards Buakhao and hence the front is going to get it bad....it does not appear to have moved in the last month, or 3 weeks I think I last tried to pass by there.... I am avoiding it nowadays.

  23. London, the centre for dirty money!
