  2. I had to, particularly when I went to the USA, my NW UK accent was too much for them. Well actually for the white ones, black guys didn't seem to have much of a problem, go figure.
  3. Waynes World 2!
  4. Sounds similar to a recent incident of a Thai lady who was involved in a road accident and the good Samaritan who came to her aid relieved her of 4 million baht she had in the glove box.
  5. I think you and I have discussed these bars before...... Dave's GB bar (on the beach) where they actually had their own toilet, and some guy put headphones on to keep a blackboard updated with the footy scores from the UK on Saturday nights. He subsequently had a place on Pattayaland 1 and also on 2nd rd before soi 8. I was told Dave died of a hear attack and Linda soon married a Thai man! Wee Andy's missus made great Thai food! There was another guy also a Brit called Dave, I think, who had a beer bar on Beach Rd ... he had a gammy leg.
  6. I am perplexed why you don't just do a 'Telex Transfer' directly into the Bangkok Bank account. For that amount, the better rate over cash, will more than cover the charges. Also aren't there many banks open on a Saturday in LOS?
  7. And Mr Toom (whose name begins with a T and doesn't look like this... ) did me fine yesterday. Driver called me soon after I landed (late) and waited for me (immigration was interminable). A good vehicle (Toyota Camry I think)... Driver polite, but being a youngster a bit of a boy racer.
  8. You can't trust the bloody trains these days..... nearly missed a flight last September due to some issue with power at the station. (Manchester too) Go for the earlier one....
  9. But it does seem somewhat in their psyche to park with utter disregard bordering on contempt for others!
  10. Austin Powers, International Man of Mystery.
  11. Well it sounds like the same place I use.....Art of Smile....A crown I had done there a few years back there is giving me problems... I went back and that dentist has moved on, the replacement did a good job whipping out a bad wisdom tooth. As to OP , the crown required just two visits, prep and temporary and back for the fitting a week later. Sorry, didn't ned the root doing.
  12. It was always, without doubt, that first beer sat at the stage looking up at the dancing girls.
  13. Well I agree, he is probably musing his comments as I write!
  14. Off topic, but I don't, and actually it is what the Thai's perceive as 'farangs' that should be relevant.
  15. Richard Harris in 'A Man Called Horse" Ray Liotta in "Goodfellas" Henry Fonda "Once Upon a Time in the West" Harvey Korman in "Blazing Saddles" Anthony Hopkins "The Silence of the Lambs" Robert De Niro "Taxi Driver" and "Raging Bull" Dustin Hoffman "Midnight Cowboy" Sigourney Weaver "Alien" Gregory Peck "To Kill a Mocking Bird" Jack Nicholson "Chinatown" Joe Pesci and De Niro in "Once Upon a Time in America" Steve McQueen "The Great Escape" (and Papillon). Brad Pitt in "Snatch" (better if you are English this film) Woody Allen in "Annie Hall" Although I saw it as an Apocalypse Now accolade......still a good man's film... Kevin Dillon "Platoon" Newman and Redford in the great film..."Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid" Ewan McGregor in "Trainspotting" Pacino as "Scarface" All of them from MPFC in "The Life of Brian" just too funny..... Big John Wayne in "True Grit" (need to see the new one) I never thought he could act for toffee but Sly in Rocky (1-2,873) George C Scott as "Patton" It's normally about the film for me, but sometimes the right actor makes the film. Apologies if I repeat the entries of others.
  16. Oooh a conscience puller. I have one elderly parent, fortunately still capable... but the future may bring such concerns. My siblings may help, well one of them, but I am unsure that will suffice. I commend you for taking care of your mother though. I have this feeling at the back of my mind that at some point in the future, I may have to pull up my Thailand roots, and do similar.
  17. Keep more money in your bank account. When I put my ATM card in a machine it gets down on one knee!
  18. Go back to your bedpans fatty!
  19. You sure need some new material....
  20. Ralph Fiennes "The English Patient" Kevin Spacey "The Usual Suspects" Tim Robbins The Shawshank Redemption. Kevin Costner "Dances With Wolves" John Travolta "Pulp Fiction" Bruce Willis "The Last Boy Scout" (He has sure done some crap too, but also good in "Unbreakable" and "The Sixth Sense") Michael Madsen "Kill Bill 2" again (Tarantino made everyone look good his best films) Tommy Lee Jones "No Country for Old Men" Randal Tex Cobb "Raising Arizona" I was often surprised by some actors who I previously thought were lightweights, but under a good director shone...eg John Goodman for example in The Big Lebowski and Raising Arizona. Whoever that was in 'Legend' as The Lord of Darkness. (Tim Curry was the voice I believe). Ron Perlman as "HellBoy" but also noticed him in "The Name of the Rose" as Salvatore. Philip Seymour Hoffman in "Capote" Jude Law in "Artificial Intelligence" (Although I loved Gattaca and him in eXistenZ) Leads me to..... Tom Hanks in "Road to Perdition" Malcolm McDowell in "A Clockwork Orange" Hellen Mirren in "The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and her Lover" Daniel Day Lewis in "The Last of the Mohicans" (great fight ). Him again in "Gangs of New York" Tim Roth in "Rob Roy" ( A true cad!) Charles Bronson "Death Wish" Clint Eastwood obviously great in the spaghetti westerns but I plump for "The Unforgiven (1992)" another lead Gene Hackman "Mississippi Burning"
  21. Are you that fat nurse from Darwin again????
  22. No more of your old film clips please!
  23. An obvious one... Al Pacino "The Godfather" Dustin Hoffman "The Graduate" Ken Norton "Fight Club" William H Macy "Fargo" Uma Thurman and David Carradine "Kill Bill" Angel Heart (or maybe Nine 1/2 weeks) Mickey Rourke. Dennis Hopper "Easy Rider" Gary Cooper "High Noon" Billy Bob Thornton "The Man Who Wasn't There" Martin Sheene "Apocalypse Now" Jeff Bridges " The Big Lebowski" Guy Pearce "Mementos" Sean Penn "Dead Man Walkin" (not bad in Mystic River too) Stephen Rea "The Crying Game" Ewan McGregor "Big Fish" John Malkovich "Dangerous Liaisons" Christain Bale "Empire of the Sun" Peter Stormare in "Constantine" Rachel Weisz "The Fountain" (Not a great film but super score) John Candy "Planes Trains and Automobiles" Michael Caine "Alfie"
  24. We are Spartans..... ( I liked this film) 300
  25. Frightening....... do post further details if you see them. With the registration of the vehicle known it should be possible to trace.
