  1. Was that the bit of land owned by the American Embassy ....and was a handy place to stop for a piss..
  2. I liked a post on BBC Live in the first game ...."Due to social distancing the ball has to be 2m behind the line for a goal to be allowed....."
  3. Excellent mate. Our lockdown projects would go well together I am sure of that!!! I'm on to my second week of baking and things are looking good!!
  4. I'd heard that it was going to be a new entertainment zone for pigs. Each pig will have a number clipped to its ears... The big holes will be filled with water for them to wallow in. The area with all the blue piping is obviously a toilet with seperate cubicles because pigs are very clean animals. The large area with the sloping roof will be the "parading" area and the tin shed will be for the band.. Well, when I say band I'm guessing there will only be enough room for one banjo and one guitar..... I think it is going to be called "Squeals"
  5. Any idea if the "restaurents" will be selling beer next week? It is on my post lockdown todo list ....
  6. But sometimes experiences are difficult to put into writing.. Not long ago my Thai friends were taking the piss out of me because I got the tone wrong with "lai" as in Pla Lai (eel) and Hoy Lai (clam) and I used the rising tone of pla lai when saying hoy lai .....Funny yeh? ...Of course it isn't funny but if you are sitting around a table drinking hongthong then it is fucking hilarious .....
  7. Yes I saw that...I would liked to have given my experiences of learning Thai, Isaan Laos/Kmer over the past 25 years living in the village here but it became more about speaking and reading Thai correctly which is something I haven't a clue about....As a comparison I even wanted to give my input on learning Swahili then forgetting everything I learnt after leaving Africa as an example of "use it or lose it" ... but because I would have no practical input on speaking Thai correctly I didn't bother joining in...Sorry mate!
  8. It is an interesting point you raise. There are so many good discussions that are deleted purely for going off topic. I wanted to say a few things on the Barry Upton thread but felt that the comments would get deleted so why bother?? We aren't a bunch of sprogs on here...We've all been around a bit...There should be a process in place that allows conversation to flourish.Who gives a shit if we want to talk about whether rat larb is better than frog larb ....It is how conversations develop, just as if we were a bunch of young lads old men standing at the bar ... We have some fucking good Mods on here and I'm sure everybody would like to know that the way to find out if your sow is ready for mating is to tickle its pussy and see if it backs onto your finger..... Then you lick it and tell by the taste whether it wants it or not (OK I made the last bit up) but you see the possibilities here? We can have a faux thai visa forum where we all pretend to be rich pompous bastards that have lived here twentygazillion years, know everything about Thailand, can get our visas done legally faster than we have sex (yeh right), have perfect wives that earn a gazillion Baht a month, have inlaws that are HiSo,, and are seeking deals on the latest merc and don't mind spending the extra million to get it in pink and delivered next week! We can even have a faux Dan Cheeseman and start multiple threads under different names on the same subject just for advertising clicks ... But the most important aspect that must repeated endlessly is that blokes that sit in bars are losers....blokes that sit in bars on soi Buakhao are destitute criminals and the blokes that sit in bars on soi Buakhao at 8am are normally called Bullfrog!!
  9. A picture posted by Jomtienguy jogged a memory of "Alice's Restaurent" ...Whilst searching for it I came across this ......Boy doesn't he look like Richard Beckinsale!!!
  10. Difficult to tell the difference really ...Perhaps the one in the middle has a slightly different shaped nose ...
  11. I have so much to thank Manchester for in the 80s. My wife was from Bradford, Manchester but moved to Hyde. I can't explain the NI of the 80s briefly so would just like to say that Cest La Vie 1 & 2, the Brauhaus and countless pubs my wife dragged me around helped me blow off steam....Thank you Manchester!!! I know I have posted this before but here is Phil Collins ....We were watching it one night in Derry...and one at a time lads skidded up and danced and mimed to it ....one of the lads was killed the next day leaving Rosemount police station...RIP Feller !!
  12. Triple green from me for that one!! I've had my house blown up by the IRA...I've been shot at more than once... but what really gets me upset is that my ex inlaws poisoned my dog because I refused to use her for breeding (for money) You've brought a tear to my eye and a smile to my face with this one...Thanks!
  13. Think of a figure and double it ...??
  14. The office between Walkabout Creek and Coffee Beer Bar is called J and E concierge service and they definitely do transfer of car ownership. It costs 5,000 baht ex tax for the service. I think this price should be used as a benchmark because when I had been in there previously I found their services to be the most expensive in Pattaya.. Anyway, I picked up a card today when I asked the price ...Tel O818658910 .. Good Luck!!
  15. I don't know where you live but how about the shop opposite Mr DIY on Khao Talo ....???? Or the office between Walkabout Creek and Coffee Beer Bar ...On Pattaya Tai...near Friendship .....forgotten the name ......
  16. I'm just back from a 3 hour figure of 8 walk...I had to do my 90 day reporting and also had to check my PO Box. The rain stayed away so I thought I'd get a few numbers for you. The following is in the order I found them. It was early so none were open. 1. LK Pavillion Driving school.Sign in window said "Register new owner" Tel 0619656174. 2. New Plaza. First shop on the left coming in from Buakhao. Tel Alice 0884223563 3. "Allways" on soi Lengkee Tel Aew 0812391508 Hope this helps...!!!
  17. I was waiting to see if anybody replied before offering my input... I have seen a sign in an office window somewhere on Pattaya Tai / LK Pavillion. Either a lawyers, an insurance agent (on Tai) or a driving school (LK Pavilion) saying "transfer of car ownership" or something similar. I will be heading up that way next week and will try and get you a phone number or something ...In the meantime ignore me and listen to whatever anybody else says ... As an afterthought hows about that shop on New Plaza that does licenses....??
  18. If you hire a baht bus you can sit up front with no bouncing about too... I'd be interested to hear back on the health check price too ...
  19. Yes .. I was going to say something similar ..
  20. There and back ..?? If the price is the same then sure I'd do the same...
  21. Where in Pattaya do you wish to depart from? The blue, and white baht buses stop all along sukhumvit. If it is not too far from where you live go check them out a few days in advance to ease your concern about what might happen "on the day".....My biggest concern is that Sod's Law states that when you don't want one it will be empty but when it is absolutely essential they will all be full ... If baht buses are not a problem over that distance why not hire one for the day so that you are in complete control door to door and back again....???
  22. Gone are the days of me drinking real wine. I refer to 2 off licenses that sell cheap fruit wine. There are many spread all over every town in Thailand. These just happen to be on my normal route. Nothing special about the shops and nothing special about the "wines" .. My regular place back in the day was Villa Market on Suk 33/1...They had average wines on the shelves downstairs but upstairs (next to a card shop if I recall correctly) is where they kept the "good" stuff..I bloody loved that shop. It was open 24 hours and if I was on a long weekend break from work I'd stock up on frozen lamb and head off home to Surin...Grand old days.....Don't go near Villa Market nowadays.. I want to say more but it would be totally off topic...
  23. The Power of Pattaya Talk.!!! I just popped out and it is now down to a slight drizzle and the "storm drain" that handles runoff from Khao Talo is very low and very slow. I'm gonna have a quick squaddie wash then should be at my wine shop when it opens....
