  1. Can anyone suggest a bank (preferably in Asia) that will give a decent rate of interest in the current financial climate. I am looking to save money outside of Thailand as it does not look so good with the Thai banks. I have looked at HSBC offshore but their rates seem very poor. Serious and sensible replies only - Thanks
  2. I used to do this route frequently and found the more comfortable airlines to be the Middle Eastern airlines, i mostly used Emirates from London via Dubai and it was ok. I used KLM a few times but the return leg into London is a pain in the ass as the flight that should be 45 minutes ends up taking 2 hrs due to air traffic congestion
  3. It was kinda funny yet silly , but lets give this guys buisness a go and maybe someone can give some feed back
  4. When you have the dates and you are sure, i would suggest about two months out will be fine
  5. How do you add spice to the most boring thread in 2011
  6. I bet, you will have to keep that one for Villa, the others two with yellow bows look nice though
  7. Thats a real scary looking lady with the Blue bow on her head. is she the bouncer
  8. You certainly was no help at all - as usual
  9. Jeez - guys, really!!! all this to argue over a rice/slow cooker !!!!!!
  10. Another good option would be Tropical Berts on 2nd Rd near soi 6, i dont know prices, but his food is excellant
  11. DHL is just passed Kiss food on 2nd Road on the left side as you are travelling north
  12. This is ok for rice, but the OP is refeering to what the USA folk call a "crock pot" i have just bought one over here in Ghana and its the best friend in the kitchen. It have a thick ceramic bowl inside which keeps the food hot for ages or can cook slowly. The thick ceramic pot is what does all the work once it is hot, it stays hot for a long time.
  13. I agree with you about the 1200 condos, i would not bother with that development and stay far away from it. I could not see that place ever being finished. I waited for a high end building to be totally finished and in the meantime i continued to email the sales office and eveloper to see what units are available. I managed to get the 2 bedroom unit i wanted at 30% less than my neighbor had paid and i got some really good furniture thrown in also. I did alot of research into the area and what it had to offer etc and as a result i rented the unit out to the first person who looked at it. They are now renting the condo for a long term which is exactly what i wanted. I would be looking at prices of about 50k per square meter, anything over that is just a rip off. Some simply research will give you an average price to pay for that. The "bubble" may well have been caused by Thais, and they are able to hold onto the property they buy, because they will always have someone to rent it from them. In many ways, its better to have a long term renter paying slightly less than a short term renter paying slightly more. Your plan to rent in the building you like is a good idea and then to wait for the "sale" is also good. I would suggest when you rent the place you like in the building you like. That you include in your rental contract a paragraph about buying that unit. If you both agree to a sale of the unit you are renting, you can save even more money that way also by cutting out on an agents commission.
  14. This is probably the husband all along.
  15. Thats exactly what i have done over the last 18 months, there are some ood deals to be had when the buildings are completed. As for the actual resale value increaseing - not really anything for a few years to come. There are simply too many empty houses and condos not getting finished/sold. So the re sale value will not increase for some time. Its a good time to buy if you want a place for yourself - for holidays etc. And also good time to buy if you know "what to buy and where" for rentals.
  16. Depends on what you want to pay, me personally, i like Bob Palmers on Soi 13/4 ( i think ) he does alot of the food for the parties etc. And i have eaten there for several years. He has a good menu and does a good breakfast aswell as good evening meals. Its not the nicest of places, but the food is good
  17. Very true. I think so many come here on holiday a few times and want a place here and then just fall for these scams. You would never buy like this in your home country, so why buy off plan in Pattaya. I have bought a couple of condos over the last year, but they have had to have been in a building completely finished first. The whole idea of buying off plan totally puts me off and i am also wary of buying from the Israel investment companies also.
  18. Yes, good luck and try to book, Thai airways have the airport to themselves and only their planes fly there. It is expensive to fly to Khon Kean. I went last summer and it was 6000 baht return
  19. Is this all you have to do with your time now?? get back to your trip reports, they are much more interesting
  20. Very well said Jacko, its obviously been a very long time since the preacher has been to Pattaya for a NYE, Personally i like the idea of being able to walk up and down WS in and out of different bars getting pissed, enjoy some nice food and listen to some great live music before watching the fireworks at Bali High. Pattaya is better than Bangkok anyday and has a great party atmosphere.
  21. i would definatley do Pattaya last, you cannot make plans while in Pattaya lol. Go to Cambo first, then Pattaya and 2 nights in BBK on the way out, Just my two cents worth...
