Having stayed at both Canterbury Tales and at Dave Somerville's rooms, I can only say that both are absolute value for money. Both Dave Collier and Dave Somerville are great hosts and I'll happily spend time with them. If I had a problem with my room and I informed Dave, I'm sure he would have tried to do the best he could. To me, having a good host who has my total trust is important and on that count both the places have an equal rating and it can not get any better. While staying at one, I do spend a lot of time eating and drinking with the other...

Pretty basic .... Also do not carry liquor or any other liquid from BKK if you have a stopover at Mumbai. I have heard of cases where it was not allowed on the second flight. Safter to buy it at Mumbai though the choice of brands is limited...

The OP is looking for direct flights Villa... The choice therfore is limited, British Airways (They may not fly you even if you want to go, thanks to the strikes by their overpaid Cabin Staff), Eva, Thai, Qantas and United... Eva or Thai are your best bets...

Great place to stay. The rooms are really unique. You will find a lot of criticism about bills getting padded up with stuff that you didn't use, never really happened to me and I have spent atleast a 100 nights there over 5 years. I haven't been there in the last three years and so my info is not current. You can take a girl, boy or anything inbetween from anywhere. I even had a Russian lady visit me (I even asked clarifiction from the reception before getting her in, they were ok) They will register your guest if you want them to. Not sure if you can have more than one guest though...

You should consider a short trip to Pattaya BEFORE the procedure. All the best Alf. Take heart...you will be in Pattaya long before I arrive...

Have chatted up a few and have bought drinks. Somehow never materialized into a LT/ST.

Have been that way for several years. Always make it a point to have the FnC with Guinness at the P&W when in Patts... Expensive as compared to many other places but quality stuff!

Nothing about the new owners so far. We should be looking more at what future holds than ruminating over the past...
