Martinell Sports Bar
Grandpollo replied to Martinell Bar's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
Actually you are the only bar I have heard of that does not know its own barfine and you are posting photos and can't identify them as freelancers or your own employees? Are they all freelancers and there is no barfine? Never mind. This is too weird for me, so I'll pass. -
Sim card for laptop use in Thailand?
Grandpollo replied to Gus's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
The average non techie will do better with a dongle than trying to figure out tethering which is not that easy and requires a 3G smartphone on the same network which if not already owned might be too much of an investment over the simpler dongle method. Most of the dongles will self install and self configure and adding time is not that difficult. -
It's a good smoke free, BG free oasis with good air con, low music and right on Soi 6 and they have draft Strongbow as well. The food is good enough and the Thai food will be eaten by your TG even if it's not super. Prices are average.

Any answer to my questions posed in post #33? -
Always fun to see a spelling error pointed out with another one, e.g he said "Bart" (not meaning the Simpson character I suspect) which you point out as wrong by using "bath" , which is quite a heavy and unwieldy currency indeed. Luckily Baht come in notes and coins.

Sim card for laptop use in Thailand?
Grandpollo replied to Gus's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
There is not a SIM card you put into the computer (there are a handful of computers that support 3G where you can put in a SIM card but practically speaking there are not). You can buy a "dongle" which is a 3G "modem" on a little USB stick that adds a network adapter and 3G or slower (often) from a 3G provider. I assume AIS and DTAC will sell something like this. For prepaid the dongles usually cost in the $30 to $50 range, and then you have to buy time on the SIM not unlike buying time on a SIM for a phone. They even have a phone number. I thought Pattaya was still weak in terms of 3G coverage or 4G at all. If generally, coverage is slower than 3G forget it - 3G is not too shit hot for regular use, 2G is awful - as suggested stay somewhere with wi-fi which will be a lot more consistent and far faster. -

In your photo set are these girls dropping by or that work the bar? I quite like the black and white striped top gal in most and the cute girl in the white top in the 7th photo. what would be their names if they are working there? I prefer to patronize board members joints where there's been some effort to join in here and I have three days free from the 15th. What is the barfine tariff and from what hours if they differ by time of day? -
I found two that were old Java based exploits and since hardly anyone uses actual java applets that much and since my Java version was updated since to the point the exploits were defunct, whatever was here did not latch on anywhere. Maybe because I never use Internet Explorer.

There are versions of the 777-300. The 77G which has no first class has the new business class and offers the new economy plus. I am flying the 77G this month in the new business class and I will try to have a look at Y+ . There are only two or three rows and IIRC there is four inches more legroom and the seats are slightly wider. The HKG BKK route has everything on it though if you're stuck flying economy the short flight doesn't matter that much. I have flown that route on a 340 with their regional business class and I have flown the 777-300 with the old herringbone business class that should be out of service for longer routes soon. It came in from New Delhi to Hong Kong via Bangkok. Out of LAX and SFO the is demand for first class such that they may not offer the Y+ seats unless they start updating those 777 with new J and they decide to add Y+ at the same time which they may.

Extra sharp cheddar is pretty hard and dry cheese. I can't see it going bad in that period of time. I don't know where you buy it but all cheese here is sold in a hermetically sealed package, not newspaper or something like fish and chips. If yours is then put it in that disposable tupperware from Glad etc., and some tape to hold on the lid. The only other concern is importing food at all. You can't bring cheese into the US and Canada for example and they have food sniffing dogs that find food, fruit, sausages and so on. In El Salvador they have one dog who only smells out money including coins which is sort of ridiculous, really.

Work Permits and immigration...
Grandpollo replied to Paul BRS's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
I have found in any foreign country following the rules and using a local lawyer to pave the way for things always works, while doing things through the back door will work until it fails and the failure can cause problems that might cost more in the long run that the sneaky method saved. And you never get the reputation of being the guy they caught. -

Radar problems at swampy Thursday Night

I guess it wasn't all that uninterruptable a power supply after all. The Transport Ministry has solved the problem by officially changing the device's name to a mostly uninterruptable power supply. -

From what I've heard they rarely want proof of your ticket. Frankly you pay them money and if you don't go they made the money and do they care if you do or don't? Just put Bangkok, Ayutthaya, wats and temple tours, yadda yadda. Photocopy a bank statement and circle the balance if you have to. Which you don't seem to as there is nothing on that PDF that says anything about money. -

I am saying if you BF a girl say Sunday before a Monday mandated closing and she's been told don't come in until Tuesday as a result, that if you choose to hang on to her the second day and she's got no work to go to then you've hardly got a barfine to pay. What if you just ran into her on that same Monday at the mall? Who is she going to run off to and pay?

For 3000 not far off US$87 the club floor at President Palace is equal or better. Separate checkin, free breakfast in a private lounge or the buffet scrum in the main, free mini bar, two pieces of laundry daily and shoe shine, free papers, fruit plate daily, huge bed, tub and rain shower, wifi and wired LAN in room, usually free drinks poolside daily and a three hour drinks and snacks In the lounge daily. Fancy shmancy for 3000 Bht. Great location Sukhumvit 11 and you can play Asiatravel prices against the hotel directly.

For only 200 dollars a week and utilities, how much space and luxury do people expect? My hotel in BKK when I go up for a couple days is 3,300 a day with tax and he wants 6,000 a week.
