As someone else pointed out, if you visit Pattaya, would your guest house be the one thing that stood out so much that you would post about it? I got a good laugh at that statement. The 20 baht, covers the trip down Beach road, not to your hotel, and they ask more to go to jomtien. As much as 200baht more. From the airport, it's tough to beat Bell Bus service. Air port to hotel service.

I don't have a problem with the Russians. First off, I live here, and a blond haired, blue eyed girl without a bra looks very exotic to me. Second, the Pattaya mayor wants to make this a family town. The Russians ignore P4P, they don't call the mayor about all the girls on Beach Road, don't write the newspapers complaining. Just imaging if there were an equal number of American, Canadian, British, or Australian families, or women on the streets. They would kill Pattaya in a heart beat. The complaints to the Mayor and police would be never ending. Hell, the fat ugly American bitches would be in the bars explaining to the girls that they don't have to sell pussy. That it's easier to withhold pussy and get married, then divorce for 50% of all assets. They would probably introduce them to cheeseburgers and fries, covered in salt to get the Thai girls as fat as them.

Frosty and Jacko are both right. First, Your room should have a functioning safe, or a safe behind the desk, both are better, keep 1/2 your money in each. No safe, demand a different room, or move to another hotel. Red flags came up over and over. You had gut instincts that you let your friend override. Listen closely: One of the purposes of having a wingman on holiday is to keep each other safe. Your friend should have listened to you, and you should have been more forceful in your warnings to him. When you or your friend says "hey something isn't right here, lets move on" Listen to one another. There is no shortage of ladies in Pattaya, you won't miss anything by moving on. Never, ever go to a Thai's room, that you have just met. I could give you five reasons, but, just never do it. Your hotel should have a safe, collect ID's from ladies, have security camera's. Any lady that does not want to go to YOUR room, is afraid of giving up ID, and being caught on camera. When checking into a hotel, ask and verify that the hotel has a safe, collect ID's, does not return ID's with out you being with the lady, or calling your room to make sure that you are OKay. They are required to have security camera's, verify that camera's work. Sorry that you had to learn the lessons the hard way.

One bad thing about the English language press in Pattaya. They print the official story, as told to them by police. Police don't seem to do well translating numbers from Thai to English. They also like to big themselves up. In almost any story where an amount of money is listed, if you do the addition or subtraction from the numbers given in the story, they don't add up. A real reporter would looked at the money, calculated the exchange rate, and given a more accurate account. With the number given, the police have biged themselves up, and salved a big crime. Notice they didn't mention 20 others that were robbed, had their rented motorbike stolen, had a snatch and grab of gold chains, and of course, the jet ski scam.

I think that if he need to save on a room that badly, he isn't likely to be someone that would frequent Walking street. Just taking a baht bus home at night would cost as much as his hotel. So would a beer for that matter. Learn a little Russian, and you might really enjoy your stay in Jomtien. I'm looking forward to the trip report.

I always advise people to only book for a few days, then extend if you like the place. Unless it's the peak of high season, hotels will allow you to extend at the same rate you got through agoda. There was a thread on another board where a BM had booked through agoda for a 14 day stay, then a week before wheels up, he had to cancel his trip. Agoda would not refund money paid, even with a weeks notice. Those thinking of staying in an untried place should look for hotels that are recommended by other board members. Website pictures are often old, and show the hotel when new, not 5 or 10 years later. BM's often post pictures that are up to date, along with their assessment of the hotel and staff. A long as you are a member here, you might as well make good use of this forum.

If something sounds to good to be true, it usually is. Why do people book rooms for 14 nights in a place they have never been? If it's a cockroach infested shit hole, you are stuck in it, your whole holiday. Book for a few days, if it's acceptable, extend your stay. If it is not, you can find someplace else.

I agree with you Jacko. No one, no matter what race, religion deserved to be drugged and robbed. 90k while a lot, it's only 45k each. Many on this board have admitted to arriving in Pattaya with a lot more cash than that. Two men, one lady is a bit weird, however Arabs, and Indians do that all the time. For them it's probably more weird that there were only two, and not five. The last line of the story: "A Security Camera located above the main elevator at the Condominium was found not to be working which will make it difficult for Pattaya Police to apprehend the woman who is likely to re-offend." It was very lucrative for the lady, her next victim could be you, me, or another BM. Drugging and robbing certainly pays better than selling pussy.

If cheap drinks was what mattered most to me. I would go to one of the Wonderful bars on second road. They not only have cheap drinks, but a live band, and a lot of ladies, although most the ladies are slightly older than I like to play with.
