ENGLISH CONVERSATION CLASSES STARTING ON JULY 11 The Banglamung District Cross Cultural Volunteer Group will be having the Opening Day for the start of their next 12 week English Conversation for Thais course on Monday, July 11, 2011. This will be the Opening Day – the new and returning students will be recognized and classes will be assigned based on the students’ current English speaking ability. For the Opening Day the Education Minister for Pattaya has been invited, plus Khun Surat, Cultural Minister for the Banglamung District, and several other local dignitaries. Regular classes will begin the following evening at 6pm. The Opening Day and all classes will be held at the Mike Shopping Mall’s 8th floor Meeting Room from 6pm to 8pm with classes on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Certificates of Completion of the 12 week course will be awarded on Friday, Sept. 16, 2011. The Award Ceremony will be followed by a party for all Volunteers helping with the English Language program. The Group asks Pattaya City Expat Club members to Volunteer to help Thais improve their English conversation ability through the "English Conversation for a Better Life” program - they are always in need of additional teachers or helpers to work with the students, and to fill in when the regular teacher is away. When the classes are in session, if you visit us you will find a relaxed group of young Thai working people anxious to speak English better, and having fun doing it. Reports we receive suggest that about 30% of the students go on to get better jobs because of their improved English speaking ability - so it is a great way to help young Thai people improve themselves. If you, or a friend, are interested in participating as a helper or a Volunteer, please list your name on the sign-up sheet at this Sunday's meeting, and you will be contacted and receive more information and class information as it becomes available. If you become a volunteer, a special BDEL Volunteer Group ID card will be made for you. They are signed by the Nai Amphur (District Chief) and are valid for two years. If you have any questions or want more information about the program, please contact Richard Smith at 038-412197, or 089-244-95323, or email rick2mail@gmail.com.

Am I the only one that finds it odd that the motorbike is white on one side, and gold with black flames on the other? I kinda like my motorbikes to be the same color on both sides.

Why do you post this political crap in the funnies section? Most of the BM's on this forum are British or Aulstrailian and have no interest in it. Of Americans, the majority voted for President Obama, and don't find it funny. Shouldn't you be posting in the political section? Or better yet, in the silly topics section? The funnies section is a place to post something that most of us would find funny. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KShkhIXdf1Y&feature=player_embedded

If you go to Big C or Carfour, you will find that you can often find an 18,000 unit for the same price, or cheaper than a 12,000 unit. I would go with that. For some reason the 18,000 units are always on sale. Maybe they are the bigger sellers. When I was looking, Big C and Carfour both had 18,000 for sale installed, cheaper than other places had 12,000 alone. More BTU for the Baht is not a bad idea. A 12,000 unit can cool a 40 sm room, but it will struggle, and when first turned on will take a long time to cool the room down. The 12,000 will have the compressor and outside fan running a lot more, causing a whole lot more noise.

That would be a good idea for her. I have never met the lady, only her weird eyed son. I don't think she is in the shop much anymore, leaving him to run the business most of the time. EDIT: for anyone looking for her. Directions can be found in the newbies section. While everyone calls her Sarah it's actually Zara when you go looking for her sign.

Are you joking?

I agree. I would rather have interaction, than the ladies sitting at the back of the bar. I have bought many lady drinks with no intention of barfining the lady, or while deciding if she is the one I want for the night. How she interacts helps with that decision. I consider it part of 4play. When the 4play isn't good, I figure starfish and know that I will be going to another place looking. I would not care for buying several drinks while playing with her, and then find out that she is a no go. A colored badge, or something of that sort is a good idea. I would like to know up front, that it is in bar only play.

BBQ Bob's Board Member Promotion for 2011!
lovedog100 replied to bbqbob's topic in Restaurants and food
Fondles didn't answer, so I will. It looks funny, lines stopping in weird places. If I type from my computer the lines run the whole width of the page like what you see here. Unless I hit the enter key. Yours doesn't, and stops in weird places, not at the end of a sentience. Why would someone hit enter in the middle of a sentience? Or at all for that matter, because it automatically word wraps, going to the next line. So it looks like something from a text message, copied just as seen on the phone. Had you hit enter at the end of a sentience, it would look like this. Dale, First off Semper Fi,Marine. Myself and my wingman John will be in town July 18ish. Looking for a great meal at your place. A place like this is a lot of work. Sounds like you have a winner good place, good food and mostly a good host. Best of luck. See you in July. Do you serve breakfast as well? Breakfast with Thai food also. Thanks Bobshere Had you let it word wrap like most do, it would look like this. Thanks Bobshere I'm not as paranoid as some others on this forum that would look at your post with suspicion. I'm not accusing you of anything. Just showing you the inconsistency's in your post. The post comes off as a text message that Dale sent you, to post on the forum. First thing you said as someone flying an American flag: First off Semper Fi,Marine. I speak American, not English, and have no idea what that means. Then you asked: Do you serve breakfast as well? Like you have not been there before,, then added: Breakfast with Thai food also. Using the word also, and not having a question mark, makes it a statement. If you don't know if he serves breakfast, how do you know he serves Thai food also? Just as odd sounding, you stated: Sounds like you have a winner good place, good food and mostly a good host. Again, how would you know, if you hadn't been a customer before? You are not me, however if I were in the states and wanted to reply to this topic, I would have just made it simple and said. "Looking forward to trying your food when in Pattaya this July" As it is, it looks like Dale had one of his friends give the thread a bump up to new content. Again, not accusing you of anything, it's just the way it appears. Oh, and by the way, if you read the topic, and didn't just log in and post.....Why didn't you mention all the missing and deleted pictures? If I were Dale and wanted to bump the thread, I woulds simply post something like "June special, Margarita's 100 Baht" It would work the same, bumping the thread, maybe someone would be interested in the drink and come in for that as well. Most of all, it would look more ethical. That is just my opinion, and certainly not everyone on this forum shares my opinions. -
MM tried this poll before. I don't think anyone was happy with his options. There are missing countries, I could only list 20. Sorry, I had to lump all of you from the UK together, as did South Americans and Africans. I wanted to get a better sense of who we all are. I added more questions. Most posts and topics are created by 20-30 BM's and the lurkers opinions and feelings are missing. The poll got bigger than I expected, sorry about that. It appears that I make polls the same way that I write, a bit wordy. I had to stop to keep it from going from a poll to a questionnaire. Edit: The poll has been up 24hours 48 have taken part, hundreds have viewed. So far those from the UK out number everyone else, and general knowledge of Pattaya has the most votes. I'm assuming that many keep coming back to check results, and are interested. Yet, I'm getting negative ratings for for the poll? I kinda thought it was fun.

The Myth of the Married/Sponsor Horde
lovedog100 replied to torque's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Odd, I kind of think of it the same way. Just how much goes on that we don't hear about? That would however make the numbers go up, contrary to torque's position. -
I didn't see anything except this. [#10171] You do not have permission to view this attachment.

The Myth of the Married/Sponsor Horde
lovedog100 replied to torque's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
That would be an interesting question that none of us can answer. It will also depend on your definition of sponsor. I think of it as a man that is sending enough money to support the lady, so that she does not have to be in the business any longer. She may, or may not stay in the business while getting that support. I'm going to say I know about ten getting full sponsorship. #1 I mentioned above, she claims 5 sponsors. #2 and #3 are in school now. I don't see them anymore, so I have no idea if they are freelancing on the side, or have another boyfriend, but I do know that both are in school. #4 Worked in one of the bars with a web cam, she quit the bar, and went to work in another bar with out a web cam. #5 Quit selling pussy, but still works in a bar as service, she occasionally takes a barfine, and lives with a Thai man. #6 Actually went home to the village,,,,to her husband and children. Her sponsor arrived in Pattaya, last night, she arrived yesterday morning. #7 Got out of Pattaya where a sponsors friends might see her, and moved to a bar in Ban Chang #8 Quit work, she gets enough to support herself, and her Thai boyfriend. They both live off of the sponsor. #9 and #10 are cousins. They appear on the up and up, although I really don't see them much any more. When I do they are together, and not with a Thai or Farang man. I haven't heard any rumors, and they don't brag about getting over on a sponsor. #11 Sponsor is in town, she is pretending to have quit the business, while paying her own barfine daily. #12 I just met, she lives with a retired farang, and they both enjoy living off her three sponsors. I mean, they both think it's funny, and brag and laugh about the arrangement. While listening to them, it's hard to decide what you want to do most, throw up, or kick the shit out of them. If I keep thinking, I might remember another few. Next there are partial sponsors. Men that send monthly money, but not enough to support her. The men know she is still working bar, but just wants to make her life easier. Most of these ladies are a bit older, or a bit on the chubby side, or not so good looking that they can support them selves just selling pussy. I would guess that I know about twice as many of that type of sponsored lady. Maybe more, because they aren't usually the types to brag about their situation. When the sponsor comes to town, she quits work, and takes care of him until he leaves. Usually getting her daily rate in the process. The third sponsor, is the occasional sponsor. This is the one that gets most men, and most of the ladies have. When the Thai boyfriends motorbike breaks down, or he needs new tires for his car, she sends out 10 e-mails, 10 text messages, makes 10 phone calls, or a mixture of the three. It's always an emergency, rent is due and she has no money, mama's buffalo is sick, the roof on the house is leaking, motorbike accident, some sort of emergency where she needs money now. Maybe one will send it, maybe three will. There are actually books for sale in Pattaya telling the girls how to write the E-mails, and text messages. Now Torque will say it doesn't happen, however somebody is buying those books. I seriously doubt that they are being bough to slip under a table leg to keep a table from wobbling. I think that if we had a show of hands, most of us would have gotten one of those text, e-mails, or phone calls. Of course, the first two types of sponsors can also expect to be the occasional sponsor as well, because he will get the same e-mails, texts, and phone calls. Maybe after torque calls me a liar, negative, misogynists, or what ever he comes up with, I'll tell you about the third party sponsor. -
Good hearted bar owner

Joe may have a point. I remember when I was just a kid, maybe 8 or 9 I went to work with my dad one weekend. We were in downtown Los Angles, when we stopped for lunch we went to a restaurant. As I got out of the truck there was a man sitting on the sidewalk, dirty and unshaven, obviously homeless, probably a drunk. He held out his hand and asked me for a quarter. I lived in the suburban area and had never see a homeless person before, so I reached into my pocket and gave him all the money I had. A nickel. He just looked at like I had just spit on him. I said, "that's all I have." He just kept staring at me like he was completely insulted or something, with his hand still held out. I reached back to his hand and took my nickel back. I told him "if it's not enough for you, I can use it" and walked away. Kinda weird that I remember that. Thinking about it now, what kind of an adult would ask a child for money? Much less be insulted by the amount given? -

Now that is a weird story. I'm speechless. We name and shame bad guys on this forum. A true humanitarian, should be named as well. I would be willing to spend a few baht in the business of a nice guy like that. -
jacko, that is actually a very good suggestion. Don't know why I didn't think of it. I have to add for midlife, just because a man pays prostitutes for sex, doesn't mean that he is a bad person. Just as someone that goes to church every week, doesn't make them a good person. In fact as we have found out over the past decade, someone that is in charge of a church, may be the last person you would want around your child. I have found the members of this board to be pretty decent men. They come from all walks of society, religions, political affiliations. Amazingly, I have met more ex-police officers than ex-drug dealers, or other types of criminals from the forums. I know MM, Hammer, and Larry personally. I like all three of them. However if my daughter were coming to visit and bringing her child, I would not ask either of them about finding a sitter or nanny. It's not in the realm of their expertise. They are all three hands on business owners, and spend the biggest portion of their time keeping their business interest going. Most of their social time is spent with other mongers, bar owners, or bar girls. I know MM, Adam, and Larry much better than I know Ken. I have no idea how much of Ken's time is spent running his business, or what he does with his free time. However to say that MM, Adam, and Larry would have a better recommendation for a nanny than another ex-pat, on the basis of how many times their picture has appeared on a forum is ludicrous. As jacko said, that would put glitterman as someone to ask.
-
To answer your question. Ken is a B member, meaning he owns a business in Pattaya. He is an expat. As an expat, I can tell you that everyone we meet isn't a bar girl. We have neighbors, friends, girlfriends, and all have friends and family members that come to town looking for work, not always in the bar industry. I personally know someone that would be perfect for a nanny job. I have seen her interact, and take care of children many times. I would trust her with my grand children. I made no mention of her. After all this is a mongers board, and the OP did not give enough information, on length of employment, pay, live in or not, and what would concern me most. Do they expect extras from their nanny? In this particular case, my concern would be for the lady, not the child. I know the child would be in good hands. I'll stand on my original statement, that a mongers forum is not the best place to look for a nanny. Unfortunately, I can offer no help on finding a better place.

I lost you Joe. You, like me get a bit wordy. Can you cut it down just a bit??

You should be able to get Sophon, faster, but more censored. If I were you, I would look into a True internet card. I'm not sure how fast they are in Jomtien, however they claim to be making major upgrades in the Pattaya, Chonburi area. I personally would look there first before tot, 3bb or sophon
