Poll, 30 days as an expat
lovedog100 replied to lovedog100's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I didn't add Ken because he says that he is really busy with his business, just didn't think he would have time. I would have left MM off the list for the same reason, but he is on the board every day anyway. Besides, he takes notes on his phone, which is a good idea for anyone wanting to do their own trip report. -
I like an American breakfast. So it's Tigglebitties for me.

Poll, 30 days as an expat
lovedog100 replied to lovedog100's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
All good things must come to an end. The TR was quite an undertaking for someone that types with two fingers. I thought of doing weekly updates, but I have problems remembering what I did 7 days ago. A few days a go, I went back and read what I had written, and it was all new to me, because I couldn't remember 1/2 of it. Anyway, I'd like to be on the reading end for a while. I'd really like to see Jacko or Mirkwood step up next. I really enjoyed their additions to the thread. I think they stopped posting because it was getting confusing to the readers. -
Well guys, the 30 days as an expat TR has been fun, as well as a pain in the ass. It seems to have gone over well. I believe my 30 days are up. I'm thinking we should keep the thread going. I just don't have the energy to keep it up. There were some great addititions when I first started. Jacko, Losgrad, and Mirkwood come to mind. Maybe we could get one of them to take the ball and run with it. If we did this right, we could pass it off to another expat every, 30 days. I'm sure that Bushcraft, Hammer, Frosty, and MM could make could make an interesting read as well. There are many more if we could get them to step up. One of them could volunteer, or we could vote for the one we want to take over next, and just push them into it :) Who would you like to take over next? It would be great if the expats took their turn by the number of votes they got. Who ever got the biggest number of votes goes first, second takes it the next month and so on. When we run out of names add more and vote again.

Click to "connect to" from your start button and see if you can get on another wi-fi, sometimes you can get on the hotel next door, or a bar across the street. Look for sign that offer free wi-fi in bars and restaurants, then go in and use their connection. Just as easy, but you will have to pay for it, go to an internet cafe, they aren't to expensive.

It's the internet provider. Try a different one. They all block different sites, who knows how they pick them.

Cobras MC gang. Looking for trouble?
lovedog100 replied to rob270's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Any group of people will have an asshole or two in it. He may have been in a bad mood for something, added alcohol and you looked like an easy target to take our his frustrations on. You handled it well, by leaving they will have to turn their aggression to somebody else. Don't worry about it, and don't feel like you were less of a man for not standing up for yourself. Go on with your holiday and enjoy yourself. I'm sure that you didn't fly 1/2 way across the world to fight, do what you came here to do, and don't think of it again. -

For those that missed it, I think pics are in order. -
Check out hotels online. Most will tell you when they raise, and lower prices.
-
Obviously, he didn't do any reading, before posting.

Why do we need an internet chain letter posted on this forum? Hope MM sends this off to silly topics, or better yet, deletes it.
-
I remember it well. For a long time it had a disco that was a great place to pick up women.

You pretty much limited yourself when you said walking street. That leaves the bear garden, and secrets, there is a new McDonald on WS. As Jacko said, get off walking street for food.

I found buying online to be a problem with the address of the card being one place, and the goods being sent to Thailand. Most places don't like that, and many have rules that they will not ship to a different address, much less to a different country.

From what I read, some cancers come from a viral infection. In those cases it would work to cure the cause of those cancers.

Services and Facilities from RG Towards Jomtien
lovedog100 replied to Grandpollo's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
This isn't a flame. However it sounds like you haven't done some of the more fun things in Pattaya, like exploring. If you want to know where the baht bus goes after RG, stay on it. It's only 10 baht to get back. Don't rely on others to tell you where to go. There are many hidden jem's to find. You can get out and walk in any direction, or just pick one direction a day. Ask a motorbike taxi what it would cost to drive you around for an hour with multiple stops, then just point and say this way, go in circles, do U turns and explorer. Sit and have a beer with the driver and ask him questions about places he takes customers to, or goes himself. He might know of some nice karaoke that you would never find on your own. -
That sounds reasonable. However, When I came here, I checked my CC's to find out about international charges. One had free international ATM usage, but a huge point of sale charge. The other card was just the oposite, huge ATM fee, free POS. I constantly got them confused, especially after drinking, and used the wrong card. When I gave the wrong card at Starbucks one morning to buy a cup of coffee, and later found out that $3 cup of coffee cost me $38 I about had enough. Add to that, I was living in a hotel for the first 6 months or more, and had heard horror stories about computers getting hacked, Key logers and such, I didn't trust doing online banking in Thailand. I also had huge limits on the cards, had I forgot one, as I did if FLB one night. Or a card was stolen, I was responsible for all the charges up to when I reported the card lost. A large credit limit was required for me while I was running a business in the states, but in Thailand is just a risk that isn't needed. In fact was stupid to have. When I did try online banking, my lousy typing made mistakes during log in, at home I would get three try's and then they would freeze the online account, with a Thailand IP address, they would freeze it after one bad log on attempt. I would have to call the bank who by the way has office hours exactly the opposite of the hours I was awake, and get them to unfreeze it. I would have to make an international call spend a hell of a long time pressing numbers trying to get out of the automated response system, then when I did get a human, be transferred several times until they found the right person. Of course I had to do this after I got home from the bars drinking and partying with a naked girl in my bed, because that was when the bank was open. The whole thing was just to much trouble to deal with. This was only the second time that I've needed a credit card since I've been in Thailand. Once two and a half years ago when I booked a flight home, and when I tried to make this reservation. A lot less hassle than having the cards. In talking with my friends, I think it's common for expats to give up their credit cards. Thailand isn't like home, it's pretty much a cash society.

In your post, I don't see a link. Just something telling me there is a picture there and click to enlarge, Clicking all over it does nothing. A link did show up when someone else quoted you. There was a link in the quote. It's only happend a couple of other times, except with your posts. I just can't see pics that you post. Weird.

Interesting that this would effect every single one of us. It would also be the biggest and best thing to ever happen to us medically. Yet, it gets one reply, and the topic "Remedy for raw genitalia?" has 32 reply's, and 6 times as many views. Does that mean that our cocks are more important to us than our health? Or just more interesting?

I forgot about that one. Just the same, on stairs that are narrow, if you are three steps away from being off them, a Thai will step up. On an escalator they will stand and block anyone else from walking up or down, to lazy to walk, and to rude to get out of the way.

I've kept away from this topic because I could write all day. I'm obviously grumpier than most. #1 Street vendors that bother me in a bar or worse when I'm eating. Or the flower sellers, camera people that step in my way on walking street, like I'm going to change my mind after telling 10 of them no. #2 The street vendors that have seen me every day for the last three years, still trying to sell me the same crap day after day. #3 Being told that "food no good" or "farang can't eat spicy" when I order spicy Thai food. The menu clearly says spicy, and I can read. #4 Thai's driving the wrong way on a one way street, or on the wrong side of the road. Worse, going the wrong way and on the wrong side, those usually are coming at me as I make a turn onto a one way road. #5 Being charged more to enter a tourist attraction, than two Thai's are charged. #6 Being flagged down by the BIB while driving, just because I'm farang. #7 People that cross the street with their back to traffic. #8 Fat sweaty farang walking around without a shirt. #9 Arabs and Indians that walk three and four abreast in the street. #10 Thai's that buy something in a 7-11 or minute mart, than stand in the doorway while opening the package, or reading the label. #11 A baht bus driver, or motorbike taxi driver yelling "Taxi Taxi" at me from across the street, like I'm to stupid to see that they are a taxi driver. #12 Watching a farang being gang beaten by 10 Thai's for some trivial reason, and being unable to help. #13 Not being allowed to own land or a business in Thailand, even though a Thai can in my country. #14 Being followed around by sales people in department stores, and every thing I look at, they tell me what it is. I already know that it's a TV, we have them in America also. #15 Ordering a lady drink and the service girl points to herself, and says "me me". #16 Indian tailors As I said, it's a big list, and not really in order. What bothers me most, is which ever one of them I am dealing with at the moment.
