When I showed Jane the video, she had seen the edited version, she explained it just as CNN and others that covered it did. They only showed people walking and driving by. They did not show the van run over the little girl, stop, then run over her again, or the second truck running over her. The story I got the vid from said nothing about the truck driver being caught. However, Jane said that Thai news reported that both truck drivers have been arrested. The lady that pulled the girl out of the street was a trash collector.

Jet-ski operators, beach vendors to protect Phuket tourists Patong Police Superintendent Arayapan Pukbuakao says recruiting beachfront workers as police volunteers is expected to make Patong more tourist friendly. Photo: Warisa Temran PHUKET: -- Patong Police plan to recruit beachfront workers as their eyes and ears in protecting Phuket tourists this high season, in addition to installing more closed-circuit televisions (CCTV) cameras. “Usually, there are a lot of robberies during the high season. We don’t really have enough officers to take care of all the tourists during peak season,” explained Patong Police Superintendent Arayapan Pukbuakao. The recruitment of motorcycle taxi drivers, jet-ski rental operators, beachfront shop owners and other people who work along the beachfront as Civil Protection Volunteers is part of Patong Police Station’s plan to gear up for November. “I plan to recruit about 50 volunteers to help keep watch in Patong. Whenever volunteers see something wrong, they can report it directly to the police, who will be there right on time – before anything worse happens,” said Col Arayapan. Patong Police also plan to spend 15 million baht on installing more than 100 CCTV cameras. “Currently, we have only 16 functioning cameras along Soi Bangla. Originally we had 36 cameras in the Patong area, but many of them are not working,” Col Arayapan explained. He added that more powerful “pan-able” cameras were needed in three locations that had never been monitored with CCTV cameras before: near the Kalim Police Box, the Patong Hill intersection and along the road between Patong and Karon. “We need only standard CCTV cameras in other areas, and about 100 cameras in total to cover the whole Patong area,” said Col Arayapan. The installation of the CCTV cameras and the recruitment of beachfront workers as volunteers is expected to help police monitor Patong and make it more tourist friendly, he added. I'm at a loss for words on this. The Video is from China news, you will have to get past the first part to see a video of a 2 year old run over in the street. I could write a whole page on the explanation, but you just have to see for yourself, watch the whole thing. The story was carried by world wide media, however the video was edited, this is the unedited version. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=l2DbzHz_m-I&oref=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.huffingtonpost.com%2F2011%2F10%2F17%2Fchina-toddler-run-over-by-van_n_1016187.html%3Fncid%3Dwebmail1&ytsession=M0D7nvvuoZDfAIytphZSHYM7EbpLcb9ToqA1Fw0zndmTHrS4gXn1rM6fb6YG2RITvdVK8kfbM-PDiWWjM0WWPP7Z94WqoGuj5cB-sTR0-3DsEqcMe6z-G2BQK6IQZ-FGPf-zxh2UIwgl-stXjYQKeYG7xI51zRzIzp6QUMhP7BL1pHkjd4-3MACqYvFRqkHZZpo_LkqWj8QAoHqLn1Ha8jMdt9ubaKyoEdsAwPcO3Jy1Nvh5xfU4TegFWIG3rkNjdAfkF6MP9AdSdSh6Wnzc4mnFnsCUh-XK&has_verified=1

XZone forum special promotion
lovedog100 replied to steve-pattaya's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
Well of course they are the same person. Xzone nev has 11 post, all promoting xzone, and steve_pattaya has 4 post all promoting xzone. It's been done before. Faulty towers has multipal names on all the boards. Look at the good reviews doe Faulty towers guest house, and you will find people that only post about faulty towers. Some gave reviews like a newbie first stay three and four times. It shows a lack of ethics. Also someone that is to cheap to do real advertising. It happens, we catch it, most of them learn from the experience. While this reminds me of Faulty towers threads, it even more reminds me of Bobs BBQ when the new owner took over. He was welcomed to the board, several people gave suggestions for a way to improve the business. They also gave their past experience and why they quit going to Bobs BBQ. The two big things were, Bob raised his prices to make up for what WOW charged them for delivery, and the other was the selection and quality of Thai food available. I can't remember his name right now, and it's not important enough to look up. But.. he came back with prices were in line with other food in the area and of the same quality. Clearly prices were not. His answer to Thai food was, there were 6 dishes available, and he doesn't eat Thai food, but thinks it's OK. Even after being told that most of us eat dinner with a Thai lady, and they never wanted to go back a second time. Here is what I am getting at, Faulty towers is a failing business that is for sale, and the price keeps dropping. Bobs BBQ is on Soi LK, drive by and you will see that he is out of business. I started a business out of my garage and in 9 years acquired enough to stay in Pattaya for the last three with out an income. I have some business sense. While I don't always pick a winner, I still have no idea why Baccara does so well. However I can spot a failure from a mile off. If you check my past reviews, they are very honest, if and when a place improves, I say so. Every place that doesn't cheat me, gets a second or third chance. Frosty is my good friend, I'm not as rough on you as he is, however he is right about a 150baht beer, especially on soi 16. You are not a walking street gogo. In my three years, I've seen the four gogo's where you are change hands many times. You are stuck in the Arab quarter. They do not go to gogo's or spend money. You have to attract business, and get customers to walk away from walking street to a soi that is deafening to walk down, smells of huka, and has men dancing with each other. Not easy. Being combative and telling long time customers to go away, isn't going to work, neither is posting fake reviews. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt for a new business. You did do a decent job of cleaning up a filthy gogo, and making it look better. You probably haven't got all the girls working that you want, or plan to have. Hell, I've barfined more ladies in one night than you have working for you. Make that many a night. It's up to you, but I would listen to constructive criticism. Ignore the rest, you don't want to come off as an asshole, or I should say that you are better off not to. -

Assuming you wanted a 4th beer. I read it as 59 baht + 30 baht. -

lovedog100 replied to steve-pattaya's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
OK, let me see if I got this straight. Anyone can come in and buy a draft beer for 30 baht, two would be 60 baht. The special for forum members is 59 baht for the first draft beer, and then get a second for free. That gives us a savings of one baht.... if we can get it across to the service staff, who can only speak rudimentary bar English, that we are members of Pattaya Talk forum, which they have never heard of, and would be extremely hard to explain considering the language barrier. What flavor is your draft beer? I like San Miguel, and would be much more impressed with a 115 baht San Miguel, and you raising the draft beer price to 50 or 60 baht. Honestly, who do you really want in your gogo? The cheap Charley, only there for 30 baht beer that they are going to nurse all night, or a good customer that is likely to also buy lady drinks, and maybe a bar fine. OK, here is a question that I am sure that is going to be on every ones mind. How much does my third beer cost? Another 59 baht because I'm a forum member? While Joe blow off the street would get it for 30? That is 90 baht for him, and 118 baht for me, for the same three beers? Ahhh, I went back and reread your post. Our third beer would be 30 baht, for a saving of 1 baht on three beers, if we can make service staff understand. When I was in your gogo Friday night, I tried to get two staff members under stand that I wanted to pick my own seat, not sit in the place they waved me to. They responded by trying to physically pull me to the seat they wanted me to sit at. I heald my ground and refused to move, for several minutes, trying to make them understand I didn't want to sit there and would pick my own seat. I would have paid them 10 baht to go away. Now I'm expected to try and explain something much harder to a computer illiterate, to save one baht. -

Brits… Don't buy Taser Phones
lovedog100 replied to Barrief's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Not legal everywhere in the US. In California and New York, just about anything that could be use for self defense in illegal. That said, the Phone Tasers are just about useless unless pressed against bare skin. For most it would be unlikely that they would have to defend them selves against a naked attacker. The voltage is so low on the phone Tasers that they have little effect, other than making a startling noise. They put out about 20,000 volts, the tasers that the police carry put out about 60,000 volts, three times as much. There is a video on youtube where two cops in the US have a little guy on the ground tasering him, he says "I've had about enough of this" gets up and runs away. Except for the fact that the cops were damned abusive to the guy who had broken no law, the video was kind funny, that a little guys could get away from two cops that had him on the ground punching and tasering him. The stun guns shown on the video that the police used, shoots darts into the skin and put out about 120,000 volts. I haven't seen them sold in Thailand, and in the US a real gun could be bought for less. The average price for them is about $500 USD. It appears that those that did the story couldn't understand the difference between a taser, and a stun gun that shoots darts at six times the voltage from 15 foot away. Typical problem with television news, facts are less important than sensationalism. You have to read between the lines on their numbers as well. They claimed that 400 tasers have been confiscated, then went on to say that taser crimes have gone up 30% Most of those confiscated were not used in a crime. Owning it was the crime. They gave no details, so the 400 caught for possession, could be up 30% or three crimes one year, and four the next year would be up 30%. Sky News is owned by Rupert Murdoch. That is it's self should tell you how facts have been skewed and slanted. Piss poor reporting as usual, from Rupert Murdoch. -
It sounds like you have made all the improvements that I could ask for. I'll be in this weekend for a look. I want to offer a suggestion, if you don't know MM go into FLB and introduce yourself. See if he will put Xzone on the next gogo bar crawl. On the crawl we do expect 2 for 1 drinks, so you won't make big money off us. However having 30 men come in, 25 on holiday and 5 expats can be a very good thing. Those that like it, will be back to give you more business. Some may stay after the crawl moves on. Most will be on one of more of the Pattaya forums. Word will get around fast about the new and improved Xzone.

Early gogo's are a bit hard to find, I don't do gogo's in the afternoon, so someone else could give you better advice there. For a BJ bar, I like Bliss on third road. It's just a bit north of where Xzyte was on the other side of the street next to the 7-11. There is an older woman there with hair to her ass named Ann, she will rock your world. I would guess in her 30's, older for the ladies I usually take. There are others just about as good, and younger, but it would be tough to beat Ann's talents anywhere in the world.

I can easily make it to Xzone in 2 minutes or less. I think you should give the other gogo's another try. Roxy has a great line up. They still have some Japanese you have to compete with, but a good selection of ladies. Rhino who I gave low marks the first week of opening has listened to suggestions on lighting and such to make it better, they also have a lot of new ladies of higher quality. Still not a favorite of mine, but worth a look, it's up and coming. I don't believe that Hootys has reopened, so it no longer counts. In the same alcove as Xzone is Relax, and another who's name escapes me at the moment. While Xzone was never my favorite gogo, or even one that I ever barfied from. I some how end up taking a lot of newbies out for their first real taste of Pattaya. Xzone and Babydolls were two places that I always had on the tour. The others depended on the lady lineup at the time. I'd be interested to know what improvements that you have made. 30 baht beer doesn't entice me, I assume it's Tiger, or Chang, neither of which I will drink. One thing every person I have ever taken in commented on was, the place looked filthy. Cleaning was obviously not a priority, nor was a new coat of paint. Add one more pet peeve of mine, some of the chairs, either the springs, or foam had broken down, and sitting on them were like sitting in a hole. I will stop by and take a look. You stated that "we have changed much was wrong with X zone" I can only hope that cleanliness and comfortable seats were part of those improvements. Oh, one last thing, probably the biggest reason I never took a lady out of there was the number of ladies with really nasty stretch marks. I will occasionally take a mother, but not when they look like they have had seven kids and just left the maternity ward. Yuk

Burqa's in Walking Street
lovedog100 replied to Grahamxxx's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I'll agree that I'm to busy looking at the sexy women to notice Burqa's or even the fat women. I did however have to spend the day in a government office last month. There was a man there with I assume his two wives, both in the Burqa's that just have a slit for the eyes. It got me wondering, if there were 20 or 30 women dressed just the same, how would the man know which ones were his wife's. Had he gone to the toilet, he would have had to remember his exact seat, so that he didn't come back and sit next to someone ease's wife. Or if there were other friends or family members walk in, they wouldn't even know it, because they would all look alike. A girl could sit down right next to her sister or mother, and unless one of them spoke, they would never know. It seemed really strange to me. -
It's true, ex-pats don't know everything
lovedog100 replied to lovedog100's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Wow, I checked out the site MM. UNBELIEVABLE..... This page was labeled crazy, I have to say it is crazy. The food menu is a bit weird as well. I guess they won't be seeing much of my business. -
I've been added to Caramel Restaurant & Gentlemen's club on face book. I've never seen it, or heard of it. Has anyone been there that can give some information on what it's like and what to expect? Even know where it's at, maybe I could go see myself. I asked where it was after being added to the group, but so far my question has been ignored.

Going to HuaHin from pattaya I would take the yellow bus to Koh Samet. you catch it at the north road bus terminal 180 baht. Going to Pattaya from Hua Hin, I took a van to a BKK bus terminal, and then the bus to Pattaya. There is also a train available, take the train to BKK then switch to a Pattaya or Hua Hin train. I understand it's slower, but at least you can get up and walk around, has food available, and toilets.
-
OK, no problem. Your quote of my post is what I couldn't understand, it looked as you were replying to me. Mistakes happen.
-
Check out Thai air. I understand that they make a non stop flight from LAX to BKK saving you layover time waiting for the next plane. I usually have to spend a boring 2-4 hours in Japan depending if I've left from FSO or LAX.
-
I still don't understand. Better than what? I didn't post a web site, or say the site I got my information from. (Which by the way, gave the same information) I went out and personally measured the rainfall that the storm dropped at my house in Pattaya, then posted it for board members interested. Tell me how your web site is better than that?
-
I guess I don't understand. Your site said 242.6 mm that equals 9.55118 inches. Was my 9 1/2" not close enough for you?

Buy Or Rent A House On The Darkside
lovedog100 replied to som nam na's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Jacko's advice is good, however, you are a couple of years away from making that decision. New areas may open up, the economy may change, many different factors can come into pay in that amount of time. It would be best to come when you are ready, rent, and look for an area you like. I wouldn't rule out condo's because of the balcony. Not all condo's have them. High railings can be added as well. Even a better idea: I have a friend that bough every sea side corner unit, from the 3rd floor up in his building. They all had two balcony's. He removed the slider and enclosed the balcony adding square footage to the attached rooms. Now he not only has units with a view on two sides, one being the beach side, but he also owns the biggest units in the building. Some times it helps to think outside the box. -
Yes I saw around the world in 80 days. I can never remember if it's ahead, or back, so I googled "Time difference between LAX and BKK" -14 hours was that came up on the site I went to. I just looked at an old itineary. Going home I left BKK 6:50am on the 7th and arrived SFO 12:46pm on the 7th. Coming back it was depart SFO 12:12pm the 14th arrive BKK 11:10 the 15th. If Tom were to take the same flight leaving 12:12 on the 29, he would arrive 11:10 the 30th. He could be in his hotel room in Pattaya by 2am the 31th giving him plenty of time for sleep, food, and a short time, before NYE celebrations start.
-
Lucky you. Now,,,,, Do you have pics?
-
BKK is -14 hours from LAX. Depending on the time that he leaves, and where he leaves from. There should be no problem making it to Pattaya by Dec 31
-
Hey Tom. Take this with a grain of salt. I have spent 3 NYE in Pattaya. My first choice, is going to FLB. Second Secrets. The first two years, I barfined 1/2 a dozen girls and went several places, then FLB. Both years we left before midnight because the girls wanted to try something different, and went to other places. Afterwards, we wished we had stayed at FLB. Secrets can be fun, but not alone, or even with a lady or two. You need a couple of guys with you spending money to get attention. FLB was much more social, even if your not spending vast amounts of money on lady drinks. The live band is much better than secrets recorded music. If you get wild and want to dance, FLB has a dance floor, and Secrets doesn't. In almost any seat in Secrets, you can only see one dancer, however, when the FLB girls get on the shooters bar, everyone has a good seat, and as many as 6 can get on the bar at once. Last year, we went straight to FLB, and stayed until closing. It was the Best NYE I've had in Pattaya. That said, if you are really into the midnight fireworks, and don't have a seaside hotel with balcony, the Pattaya Beer Garden is the best place in Pattaya to see the fireworks from. If you are 30 or younger, the Hard Rock hotel, or Club Mixx is the place to be. Both will have single non bar girls available for the young farang, as well as freelancers. I spend little time in BKK and can't really comment on a place to be there.
