  1. SHIT !! I was going to say yes, until I saw your post. I calculated it to 75,000 baht a month. It costs me double that on average. I may have to go home, and back to work much sooner than I thought. The government wants you to have 800,000 Baht to live on in a year. That is their requirement for a retirement visa. So I'm sure than many can live on that much. Not sure why I can't do it. I don't feel like I live big. I did the first 6 months, but now I sure don't.
  2. The problem with the English press here is, they just print the official story. They never investigate, or even think for themselves. They just print what they are told. The area has maybe 8-10 bars, that are called Karaoke. Not that any singing to the music goes on. Most of them are more drive threw style of P4P.
  3. I don't see this as a problem with the taxi service. I see it as the OP being completely unprepared. He was staying at a small guest house, not the Hilton. Most Pattaya taxi's wouldn't know where it was. The driver could be Bangkok based. There are a many hotels and guest houses in Pattaya as there are bars. When traveling to a foreign country, especially one where you don't speak the language, always have the name, address and phone number of your hotel with you. With that simple information, the driver could have called the hotel and got directions. The first thing you do when checking in, get the hotel business card and put it in your pocket. Most have a map on the back. I can't tell you how many drunks I have seen walking the streets looking for their hotel that they can't remember the name of, or even what street it's on. It's amazing how all streets look the same, when you can't read street signs, or the big land mark sign that is in Thai. The hotel Business card is important thing to have. I can remember meeting someone looking for his hotel. Honey something he said. I know where the Honey inn is, the Honey hotel, and the Honey lodge, none are anywhere close to each other. If I know of three Honey something hotels, there may be 6-10 Honey somethings in Pattaya. I will agree that it was probably unprofessional to drop the OP off at walking street. But what could he do, if the OP didn't know where he was going? At least on walking street there would be English speakers that could offer help. Or in this case an internet cafe. I've never used Mr T, but this story wouldn't stop me from giving them a try.
  4. I don't remember ever paying fees to leave Thailand. Are you thinking Philippines?
  5. I can say as well that I have never known anyone with AIDS. I have known several that have died of AIDS. Maybe people with AIDS don't go around telling everybody they have it. I often go to Starbucks for morning coffee with friends. When it's not to hot we sit outside, talk and watch the ladies. There was one girl working beach road there, about 32, long hair to her ass, a petite little spinner that would stop by and talk. She was friendly, and could speak English well. She was always offering me short time for 300 baht. One day I told her that I would take her the next morning, as I had woke horny that morning and did the girlfriend. The next day, she was right by my side when I got there. I'm not sure why, but I decided against taking her, even though she said that she already had an aircon room and wouldn't have to pay for the room. A couple of days later, I was talking with one of my friends about her, and he said that he had taken her for 300 baht, and he didn't have to wear a condom. The deal was to good to pass up, but that she was a starfish. Needless to say, I never went with the girl. About a month later, someone noticed that he hadn't seen her in a while and asked one of the other girls what happened to her. Anwer: She died of AIDS. The girl worked beach road up until she collapsed and died of AIDS. I'm sure that my friend is scared to death now. He did her bare back. Though now, he says that he used a condom. I have to wonder now, has he been infected, as his story has changed. He could just as easily have said, I went and got checked and am negative. I don't believe the condom story, because he was always saying that he liked bare back, and would even pay extra for it. I do hope he got checked, he said that he was going to. Anyway, if he dies from it, I will still be able to say I've never known anyone with HIV/Aids. I've never once had anyone admit it to me. HIV/AIDS seems to be one of those things that nobody has, but many die from.
  6. If in Pattaya, the place to go is Tigglebitties. Opening at 6am, kickoff at 6:30, 4 TV's free breakfast, and 60 baht for Bloody Mary's and Irish coffee.
  7. I was thinking the same thing. Since I'm renting an elegance now, you can bet I'll be giving them a call in the next day or two. Speaking of stealing. I parked at Carfour today, and someone cut the strap on my helmet and stole it. I don't wear one of those cheap Thai helmets that everyone wears. But they really aren't that expensive here. Why would someone want a good helmet, with only half a strap?
  8. Better than that. It's a Nouvo elegance which most are charging extra for. Most places are charging 1000 baht a month more for the elegance, than the regular Nouvo.
  9. I just had to give this a try. I asked the girl friend how many weeks in a year. She gave me that weird look, like what the hell are you talking about? Then said 4 X 12, 48 weeks in a month. I told her that there were 52 and she didn't believe me. I took out the calculator and asked how many days in a year? Punched in 365, then asked how many days in a week? Then divided by 7, She was amazed at the answer, 52.14 Here is one for you Pete, see if your staff know that farang from different countries eat different food. Countless times in Thai restaurants I've tried to explain that we don't all eat the same food. Or that some farang like spicy food. On more than one occasion I've been told that I'm stupid for thinking so. I've even asked how many different countries have you been to? Answer: none. Then I say that I have been to more than 20 countries, maybe I know more. Stupid farang is the usual answer to that statement.
  10. Never crossed my mind. I think anyone that can speak Thai wouldn't ask such a question. They would have been around Thai's enough to know the answer.
  11. LOL, That was funny.
  12. That is a good idea. I would add, be friendly and out going and meet people. Many people are not outgoing and have to work at it. My advise, walk up hold out your hand, and say "Hi my name is (your name) from Australia. This is my first time on a bar crawl, have you been on one before?" Typically a conversation will start from there. Ask the typical bar girl questions, where are you from? How long have you been here? How long are you staying? Have you been any place really good? One thing I have had happen many times on a bar crawl. I have a 19 year old naked cutie on my lap with one of her boobs in my mouth, and someone wants to start a conversation. I pretty much ignore them, or maybe answer them with a grunt. I'm not being unfriendly, I have tunnel vision. Talk at FLB bar, or Cherry bar before we leave. Talk while we are walking from bar to bar, or talk if I'm sitting there alone. Not while I'm busy with a lady, her attention will win every time. It's not that I don't like you, I just like her more
  13. Have you talked to a bar girl? Their English is poor at best. Understand, that even though they speak pigeon English, that does not mean that they can read and write English. If you go to most Thai used Internet cafe's, you will find someone there writing e-mails to sponsors of bar girls for a fee. Little do the bar girls know, that the person writing for them have poor English skills themselves. Often the e-mail makes no sense. They can probably read what what was sent to them with some degree of accuracy, provided, you understand to use pigeon English yourself. I wouldn't expect to many to be able to keep up in chat, or in a forum. Take a look at FLB chat, and talk to Tuk, I would guess her written English skills to be in the top 2 or 3% of bar girls. That will give you an idea what to expect. If you could find a Thai college forum, English skills would be much better. The more educated ladies will have learned much more English, that farm girls from Issan working in a bar.
  14. Norton may work good, but it will slow your computer down to a crawl. it would be my last choice for an anti-virus. A bad link on this site will usually have another member or two give a warning, because their anti virus came up when clicking on the link. If you are the first to click on it, it's up to you to have your own protection. Understand that those saying to use spybot, are only half right. Spybot is looking for malware, you also need an anti-virus.
  15. Excellent video. Good job.
  16. Cherry restaurant on third road is a very good restaurant. Thai ladies like the food, but think that it's to expensive, you will love the food. Wednesday is the buffet, you and your lady will be impressed with the food offered. It's by far the best buffet in Pattaya. One of the best I've been to anywhere. It's right across the street from Xzyte. The Thai menu is in Thai, but with the buffet, it isn't needed, expect her to go back for second, and thirds. It's that good.
  17. What the hell MM. Have you got pictures of food memorized from every web site you see? Seeing the picture of the nachos, I thought that they had improved on the old nachos. It appears, they are the same.
  18. It' obvious that your indoctrination won't allow you to change the channel. Many have been wondering about your standard reply. It always contains "welfare nanny state", irregardless of the subject. Someone has worked you over pretty good with mind control, and propaganda. Interesting that you think it's everyone else suffering from delusion. You are an unadulterated nut case. Just like the one that shot several people in Arizona. You sound a lot like he did, just before he went over the edge. A word of advice, that you won't listen to, or understand. Stop fixating on thing that you have no control over. You need a mental health professionals help in a bad way. Better yet, a deprogrammer. You should really seek one out. You won't, because you see everyone else as wrong, and off thinking. I can only hope that someone that knows you, turns you into law enforcement, before you try to change the things that you have no control over, in a violent way. The Arizona nut case gave off the same signs that you do, and no one contacted the proper officials. Let's hope, that this time, someone doe.
  19. You can get GPS with a rental car. You have jut gone to the wrong place to rent your car.
  20. Your rhetoric is getting old. Change the channel.
  21. It must be growing up in that nanny state, a place where education is available to all. That has made me able to recognize someone that is mentally unstable. I'm guessing that you grew up in Afghanistan, Cambodia, Congo, or some other non nanny state like them. I have to wonder, why don't you go back? Could it be that you are being held prisoner, either in a mental institution, or a prison, and your internet access is part of your rehab?
  22. Why do you use the same rhetoric on every thread that you answer? You have to know that it doesn't cover everything,,or do you? It makes you look like you have gone off your meds, or need a new evaluation, along with a new prescription. If you own any guns, think about giving them to someone responsible, like a relative, or member of law enforcement for a while. Refrain from going anywhere where a politician is giving a speech, or making an appearance. It would be a good idea to open your yellow pages, look up mental health, then make an appointment with a professional. Ask friends and family, I am sure they will agree. Right now, go to your TV and change the channel from fox, to Comedy Central. Leave it there for a month, or better yet, a week after you start smiling and laughing again.
  23. They don't want you back??
  24. Well that does it. If they are going to close bars for a day. I'M GOING HOME !!
