  1. P72 on walking street, just be on the third floor or above, there is a band in the bar and you can hear it from the 2nd floor. Phone # 038-421784 Dream Hotel, just up the same soi, but on 2nd road. Phone number 038-420771 La Fontain on walking street. This one doesn't have free internet, but does have other extras, DVD player, two TV's Living room and kitchen, pool. http://www.soidb.com/en/pattaya/stay/servi...a_fontaine.html I've stayed in all three. They are about as close to the action as you can get, and nice hotels. Also, 1/2 what your budget per night is. Personally, I lik
  2. Good post, and food for thought. When I first got to Pattaya, I stayed in expensive hotels, it didn't take me long to decide that I shouldn't stay in a hotel that cost more than I was paying the lady. Staying in the higher end hotels, the ladies expect you to spend more on them and tip big. Every one of them will ask how much you pay per night. Those I know that like the high end hotels say, that you can never go wrong with the Marriott in Pattaya. I've only known one person that stayed at the Vault. I have to say, it sounds interesting.
  3. I don't think that the Hilton is open yet. I don't know for sure, but they are obviously still doing a lot of construction there. From the look of the building, they are still a long way off.
  4. Hmmm I thought MM's reply was very eloquent. I just let your statement go, mainly because I couldn't think of anything else to say but. "Have you got your head up your ass?" But, I'm trying to limit my negative responses, and hit my quota for today.
  5. Before you pick the Dusit read DJMiami's trip report concerning the dusit. For the OP, I would PM him for a recommendation. I believe he has stayed in all of Pattaya's high end hotels. He will know for sure if they are guest friendly, and how far you can push the number of guest and still have them friendly.

  7. Luck you Reggie, you just saw it from your hotel. Frosty and I were on the bar crawl and had ridden our motorbikes. When it started raining, we thought we would wait it out, in the company of some TG's. About 3 am we decided that the rain wasn't going to stop, so we hit 7-11 and bought a couple of cheap rain coats and headed home. We got on Sukhumvit and before we hit Central Road, the road was flooded and closed. We then had to turn around and drive back to North Road, on the wrong side of the road. Hair raising to say the least. And I don't even have any. Then we turned down 3rd Road
  8. You are rquired to carry your passport with you in Thailand. Few do, most just carry a copy. However, if they ask to keep your passport, give them a simple "NO, I am required to carry it while in Thailand." As for paying in advance, well that is up to you. I would do a turn around and go someplace else. With the lack of tourist in Pattaya right now, there are lots of deals to be found, and those that want your business. You have the power, you have he money, you are the customer. One true statement about any business in Pattaya, there i another just like it, within a shot walk. Yo
  9. As a contractor that has had to deal with building and fire codes for many years, there is something that jumps out at me in Thailand/Pattaya. Doors on these buildings should open to the outside. During a fire, everyone runs to the door and tries to get out. They should be able to run right through the door. However many bars, disco's, theaters, and hotel fire exits have doors that open in. During a fire, everyone runs to the door, the people that get their first try to open the door, but everyone else in a panic pushes to get out. Often those in front are crushed to death. I'm sure you
  10. I shouldn't say this because it's getting hard to find a place to sit. I think I've posted it to many times. Cherry's restaurant on third road across from Exzyte, is one of the best restaurants in town. It rivals the best, but at a fraction of the cost. Wednsdays they have a buffet for 300 baht that has got to be the best in town, hands down. All of their food is very good. Tigglebitties on Soi 17 has the best American food. Pattaya Beer Garden has decent food and seats overlooking the water, nice place to take the lady. Moon River Pub on North road has good food, and a great
  11. I don't know about downloading, But. I have been the disco's with ladies that liked the music. They went to the DJ and had a CD burned for between 100-300 baht. Spyder, a man would say "kop kun klap" A lady says "kop kun kah" Not that I give a shit, I speak English.
  12. Must be an old joke. It's been a lot longer than a year. More like 10
  13. Ahh, well, it shows that I have never been to Europe huh? Either way, nominal voltage.
  14. 220-240 is a nominal voltage. Meaning that it is not an exact number. Typically anything between 218 and 240 is considered 220-240. A resistive load like a cook top will have no problem taking a 10% increase in power, if in fact you ever found a full 240 volts in Thailand. The appliance would be slightly more efficient, and the burners would lose a small amount of life at the higher voltage. In short... No problem.
  15. I have to agree with the others. I like the music, and the volume. I'm sure that being an expat, that I stop buy more than most. To that end, I would like a larger selection, so that it doesn't seem like I hear the same music every visit. Music of the same type is good. Even some more up to date music, as long as it's isn't hip hop like everyone else in town plays.
  16. Supreme Administrative Court rejects NTC's appeal against 3G injunction The Supreme Administrative Court Thursday upheld the lower court's injunction against 3G auction. The Supreme Administrative Court rejected the NTC's appeal against the injunction by the Central Administrative Court on ground that although 3G auction is for public interest, it must be legitimate. The injunction is in place until the Central Administrative Court will finish the judicial review of the complaint against the auction filed by CAT Plc, which accused the NTC of lacking authority to auction off the lic
  17. Thanks for the warning Joe. If pop-ups got past your pop-up blocker, there is a good chance that you got malware from the site. This would be a good time to run a scan.
  18. I call Bull Shit !! Not a word of what you said it true, and certainly not provable. Bush wasn't a class act, he was an idiot puppet with his strings being pulled by Dick Cheney, Karl Rove and others. You can't come up with ONE family member of a fallen soldier that had a visit from Bush.
