Death of a Shopping Mall: A Rant
lovedog100 replied to MeGoDanceNow's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I'm amazed that no one has mentioned California Wow and their sales people out front that attack you as you go by, and refuse to go away. Who would buy a gym membership from a lady boy, or a queer anyway? I will stop and eat at Villa market before going to see a movie. However, we walk the long way around because my girl friend hates walking by the California Wow people. Truthfully, I don't care much for walking by either. -

The place sucks. The music is to loud, ganster hiphop. It has got to have the most expensive drinks on walking street. The bouncers are assholes too. I've seen them gang up on Farang before, beating them on the street. Other than first time curosity, I can't see why anyone would even go in, much less pay 200 baht to do so. The Chinese tourist have the right idea. Get their picture taken under the car, and then move on.

Disturbing from the farang motorbike thread
lovedog100 replied to thedodger's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
While the accident was horrific. I don't see what the problem is with the girl using her phone. Most of us would get on our phones and call for help after an accident. Call the police, ambulance, insurance company, and in the case of a child, call the parents. Is it the fact that it's a smart phone that sets everyone off? At 16 years old, even with her eyes closed, she could drive as well as the average Thai driver. For me, the hardest part of driving in Thailand, is avoiding the Thai's with a death wish. Not to mention the Thai's that will risk both out lives to get two seconds ahead in traffic. In my two years here, I have only seen two driving laws enforced. Driving with out a helmet, and driving while farang. If there was ever a law passed "driving while oblivious" and it was enforced, 2/3 of all Thai's would be sitting in jail. -
FLB Band video made by customer
lovedog100 replied to MM's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I watched just to make sure it didn't catch me dancing, or doing a boob check. As soon as I saw who was on keyboards, I knew I wasn't there that night, and was safe. -
There are many different things that you can do to protect your self. ATM's can be used all over the world. Thai's charge a 150 baht international charge to use them, so I withdraw the max amount each time I use them. You might want to let your bank know you are going on holiday, and see if they can up the daily rate each day. Most Thai ATM's themselves will only give 20,000 baht at a time. Put 10,000 in your pocket, and 10,000 in the hotel safe. Credit cards will work in ATM's as well, and many places will do point of sell with credit cards. Defiantly let your card company know you are going to Thailand. Many people get here and find their credit cards frozen by the bank because charges started to come in from Thailand. The bank will call your contact number to see if the charges are authorized, but because you are not there to take the call, they put a freeze on the card. Travelers checks are OK, and will be replaced if lost or stolen. American Express are the easiest to cash because they are the best known. You will also get a better exchange rate with travelers checks. No need for any domination under $100 You will also need your passport on you to cash them. Many hotels have behind the desk Safes. There are many different kinds, and ways you use them. Check to see if they have a behind the desk safe, how it works, and if it feels safe to you. Some are not a good system. Some are great. I like lockers where I supply my own lock and key. I have used those key lock boxes before. There are two types. One like the real estate people use, it locks over the door handle, and takes a code to open. I like those best, but they may be harder to find available at home. I got mine from a friend in real estate. I put some glue on the door handle screws just in case someone has a screwdriver with them. It's easy to take off the whole door handle, and walk away with the whole lock box otherwise. Easier to find at home is the lock box for keys that screw down. Of course you have to have 4 screws in it to use, and you have to have a screw driver in your luggage. I've screwed them behind the head board of the bed, and in the closet (wardrobe) behind my clothes. You have to remember to take it with you when you check out. One time I checked out and was sitting at the bus station when I remembered I had left it. I had to go back to the hotel, get them to let me back in, and then pay them a few hundred baht for the screw holes I left. The key lock boxes are made to hold a key or two, so they aren't big. I have put 10 $100 bills and a couple of credit cards in them with no problem. There are private safety boxes for rent in Pattaya, and BKK. I'm not sure about the rest of Thailand. For a small rental fee, you can rent a safety deposit box. Not as secure as a bank, but better than a cheap safe that can be opened with a potato. There is one on Soi 13/1 between beach road and 2nd road. I know there are others. The down side, your things are only available while they are open. If your hotel only has the cheap safe available. Let management know that you are not happy with the sub standard safe supplied. Don't just bitch to the girl behind the desk, it will go in one ear, and out the other. You might even ask for a discount to cover the cost of a private safety deposit box. Carrying large sums of cash while on holiday is never a good idea. You should still have enough to get threw a couple of days, plus give a decent bribe to an official if the case arises. I would suggest a mix of cash, credit cards, ATM card, and travelers checks. If there is an in room safe, and a behind the desk safe, you could split your valuables between the two. At least you would have half of your stuff, if robbed. If you don't have a credit card, you can get a prepaid credit card easily. I used one once. Credit cards are easily canceled if lost or stolen, but who has the number to call with them? I tried a prepaid card, and had my son put $400 on it when ever I needed it. Thinking if it ever turned up missing, I wouldn't be out much if it took a while for me to notice it missing, or to call and cancel. I gave it up after I found that they charged a $10 international ATM fee. I used the remainder of the money on it to pay my FLB bar tabs, as Point of Sale didn't have a fee. It is an option. I once traveled all over Asia with a one ounce gold coin in the coin pocket of my Levi's. Gold is good anywhere in the world, it was a good "in case of emergency" amount, and I figured if ever robbed, no one would go for the small change. I went threw airport security with it mixed in with my change several times, it was never noticed by any one. It was still in my pocket when I got home.

Couldn't just say that the number one safe used in Pattaya hotels are easy to break into? Or say look it up on you tube? There are going to be a dozen dip shits show their bar fine for the night, that video. Those girls will each tell 10 others. Now we have 250 new people in Pattaya that know how to break into the safe that most of you have in your rooms. Maybe we could get it posted on the sign on the entrance to walking street. By the way guys, after you show the girls how to break into your safe, show them naked pics of themselves that have been posted online. After they are good and pissed offed, go into the shower, then go to sleep.

If it was up to me, we would have pumpkin pie again. For some reason, they are not letting me decide what is being served. I'm not even sure what a crepe is. Maybe they figure that unlike Thanksgiving, there may be people from other countries eating there.

I guess you missed the part about American dinner. You Brits have enough places to go in Pattaya. Americans have a whole lot less to chose from.

I wanted to make sure you understand that no meals will be sold on Christmas day. You need to go in in advance and perches a ticket for dinner. This is because Thanksgiving they has so many customers that they ran out of food, and ended up turning people away. The owners family did not get to eat a Thanksgiving dinner. They want to know how much food to cook, so that the family can have Christmas dinner too. That's fair I think. Directions: If you are going south on third road, turn left at the first light after Pattaya Thai, go up about one mile, and it's on the right. FLB group of friends: Shall we do it at the same time??

Clearing history didn't work for me. The site does tell you how to keep from leaving tracks that others can access with out your knowing.

It was Nong's birthday Tuesday, she was at FLB celebrating. I thought I'd post a few pics so you could see how the night progressed. OK, this pic was only taken because I liked her tits. It's one of the new ladies, Pui. Alice was in a dancing mood, both on the floor, and the shooters bar. I had to buy her a Blue Thunder to try and get her drunk. Alice and Gail helping the band out with some vocals. Nong got good and drunk. She wanted to go to a Thai Disco. Several of us said that we would go, but didn't think she would make it. Pink decided that she needed some food in her to soak up some of the alcohol. She actually spoon fed her, to get her to eat. After eating, we head off to the disco. We ordered a bunch of food, which was great, and a large bottle with some mixer. Nong and Ken from Hawaii. He had barfined her for a while. Nice guy, and treated her very well. I'm sure Nong gave her usual great GFE. BM Dream and his lady

For those of you that remember the thread about Thanksgiving dinner at Tigglebittys. You know that our group thoroughly enjoyed our dinner there, and it was highly recommended by those that went. You may want to know that they will be doing Christmas dinner also. This is one of the few places in town that Americans can get an American dinner. It's about half the price of what most restaurants will be charging. Neuy, the owners wife will be cooking, she owned a restaurant in the states for 25 years, so you can expect a meal just like grandma made. They have pulled one of the pool out tables to make way for extra seating.

Well crap, The song I was going to post won't allow embeds. I came up with another, it's not my favorite, but it does have real meaning to me. Years ago I was going to meet my friend camping. He gave me crap directions, so I ended up in the wrong place all alone. I made friends with a rock band that were having a vacation there. So for a week, I was in a drunken stupor with this band. One night drinking around the campfire we were discussing how different our lives were. They claimed to be ordinary average guys. They didn't drive flash cars, but they were bran new. Joe's boat wasn't what you would expect a rock star to have either. Again, new, but not a flashy speed boat, just an open bow boat big enough to take some friends out and some skiing. They said that they lived in regular houses, and had to mow their own lawns, and pick up the dog shit, and hope that it's hard. I said yes, but they probably didn't make payments on the cars, boat, or house. I rented, and if I needed to see a dentist this month, I would have to decide which bill wasn't going to get paid. I had a car, and the motorcycle I was on, but had bought used. We talked about our futures. The band was in a bit of a slump, and was taking time off to think, and try and figure out what they needed to do to sell records. I told them about my business venture that I dreamed of. The leader of the band liked my idea, said that he would bank role me, and be a silent partner. He gave me his phone number, and said get the numbers together and give him a call. I did get the numbers together, but never called. Basically I chickened out, and made excuses to myself that he probably couldn't remember anything of that week any way. maybe he wasn't serious, and being a rock star, has probably changed his number anyway. Though, I never checked. I tossed his number, and never called. After all, we were damn drunk the whole time, could I really expect him to remember, and be serious could I? Well obviously he remembered because he wrote a song about our conversation. Imagine my surprise when I was driving down the street and a song comes on the radio, and it was our conversation, parts of it word for word. Guess I fucked up, and let opportunity pass me bye. It took me another 20 years to open my own business. It wasn't the one I wanted, and probably only made a fraction of what the other would have. Long story short, I love this song, because I was there, and yet I want to cry every time I hear it.

Brit found naked and cuffed to the cell bars in Pattaya
lovedog100 replied to lovedog100's topic in Expat Issues
Interesting, when I found this story on Thai visa, it had been posted that day and had already gone to 9 pages. It was posted on the Secrets forum after this one, and is at 3 pages. Does that mean that Pattaya talk members are less caring? Less interested? Or just less of us? -

Brit found naked and cuffed to the cell bars in Pattaya
lovedog100 replied to lovedog100's topic in Expat Issues
A Briton found languishing, naked, and tied to the bars of a cell in Pattaya police station has been saved by an angel appearing in the form on an expatriate British women living in Pattaya. This was written by the same guy that posted the first story. A woman named Tracy read about the man on one of the forums and got involved. Tracy, if you are reading this, thank you. Most of us on the forums are just a talk and complain bunch. It's refreshing to see someone actually take action, and save a man in dire need. My hat is off to you. Naked and cuffed to the cell bars And after being scrubbed and clothed he has been taken to hospital in Bangkok under police supervision and now hopefully will be looked after until his deportation to Britain for overstaying his visa. The dramatic development happened early today after the women read about the plight of the Briton on this blog. She rushed to the police station to sort out the matter. Tracy xxxxxxxx, who runs the Mellisa Cosgrove Children’s Foundation said: “After seeing the pictures I was horrified. I could not let this situation go on. He looked like he was a concentration camp survivor. “I spoke to the police chief and it was clear that they wanted to help but did not know what to do as he was really the responsibility of Immigration Police. “I called up the Pattaya-Bangkok hospital and they sent an ambulance around. We cleaned him up, gave him some clothes, and he was given a medical check to show that he was alright to travel. “I have accepted responsibility for him and will watch him and go with him to court. “Just as he was leaving the local Honorary Consul Howard Miller turned up with other staff. He said ‘Thank you for doing what we could not do. “He asked what organization I belonged to. I said the organization that read this blog on the net.” “If I had not seen this on your blog I really believe this man would have died. When I spoke to him he was quite compos mentes. He looked up and said to me: ‘Oh yes, I know you from television. You do very good work’ but I had never seen him ever before. “But then later he started talking about leprechauns and pots of gold. “The police were very good. They even chipped in with some of their own money to help him on his way. “I just want to say thank you.” The Briton was photographed at Pattaya police station by Benny Moalfi, an activist and campaigner for prison and justice reform in Thailand who later contacted this site. -

A Pattaya horror story From ANDREW DRUMMOND, Bangkok, December 7 2010 Naked and cuffed to the cell bars These horrific pictures show a 53-yr-old Briton wasting away naked in a Thai police station and cuffed to the bars of his cell. He is reported to have been there for three months, but certainly since November 23th, but nobody has sent him for hospital treatment. This is a police station in the resort town of Pattaya, 100 miles east of Bangkok. His luxury pillow is a plastic water bottle. This man is under the care of police. He was found sleeping under cars in in nearby Jomtien and was found to be on overstay. The man known to others purely as ‘John’ growls like an animal and has mental health issues. Sometimes he just sits and says nothing. It’s now known he has been deported from Thailand before for overstaying his visa. Thai police say he is unfit for court and do not know what to do with him. They are awaiting on a decision from the British Embassy in Bangkok. But will, or should, the British government cough up for his treatment? Unofficially Thai police say he has AIDs. That is why, they say, he is chained to the bars. It is to protect other inmates. If however he is charged with an offense he should have appeared in court where judges could have seen his condition. This man appears to be just one of the city’s casualties. Was his problem drink? women? money? or perhaps none of these or or all three. Nobody has come forward to help or tell the story. And it’s at times like this that the neon lights of this city lose their allure. This is a side of Pattaya not promoted in the tourist brochures. “Other prisoners have been giving him some of their food, “ said the photographer and activist Benny Moafi, “but nevertheless he is just skin and bone. He will just die if nobody helps him – and nobody is. All food has to be bought. “They say he does not want any help. But his condition is quite unbelievable. “Somebody called me to go to the police station to have a look. The man has been beaten and clearly needs both medical and psychiatric care. But nothing has been done. One of the prisoners says he has been there three months. “I tried to talk to him but could not get much sense. he seemed to be hallucinating.” A spokesman for the Foreign and Common Wealth Office said: “ We are aware of the case. The man has been given consular assistance.” Pattaya Police were not immediately available for comment.
