Libertines new Video "Gunga Din" in ...where else?
atlas2 replied to MM's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Rodger Moore did in.... 'The Man With The Golden Gun'......Yes I take your point. I don't much like this song, or the two leading twats. If they were inspired by Kipling he'll be turning in his grave. More likely Docherty overheard a Pakistani neighbour banging on his door and calling his wife down because he left his keys in the pub, "Darling I gunga'din, gunga'din" Here's the poem for anyone interested.......... You may talk o' gin and beer When you're quartered safe out 'ere, An' you're sent to penny-fights an' Aldershot it; But when it comes to slaughter You will do your work on water, An' you'll lick the bloomin' boots of 'im that's got it. Now in Injia's sunny clime, Where I used to spend my time A-servin' of 'Er Majesty the Queen, Of all them black-faced crew The finest man I knew Was our regimental bhisti, Gunga Din. He was "Din! Din! Din! You limping lump o' brick-dust, Gunga Din! Hi! slippery hitherao! Water, get it! Panee lao![1] You squigy-nosed old idol, Gunga Din." The uniform 'e wore Was nothin' much before, An' rather less than 'arf o' that be'ind, For a piece o' twisty rag An' a goatskin water-bag Was all the field-equipment e' could find. When the sweatin' troop-train lay In a sidin' through the day, Where the 'eat would make your bloomin' eyebrows crawl, We shouted "Harry By!"[2] Till our throats were bricky-dry, Then we wopped 'im 'cause 'e couldn't serve us all. It was "Din! Din! Din! You 'eathen, where the mischief 'ave you been? You put some juldee[3] in it Or I'll marrow[4] you this minute If you don't fill up my helmet, Gunga Din! 'E would dot an' carry one Till the longest day was done An' 'e didn't seem to know the use o' fear. If we charged or broke or cut, You could bet your bloomin' nut, 'E'd be waitin' fifty paces right flank rear. With 'is mussick[5] on 'is back, 'E would skip with our attack, An' watch us till the bugles made "Retire," An' for all 'is dirty 'ide 'E was white, clear white, inside When 'e went to tend the wounded under fire! It was "Din! Din! Din!" With the bullets kickin' dust-spots on the green. When the cartridges ran out, You could hear the front-files shout, "Hi! ammunition-mules an' Gunga Din!" I sha'n't forgit the night When I dropped be'ind the fight With a bullet where my belt plate should 'a' been. I was chokin' mad with thirst, An' the man that spied me first Was our good old grinnin', gruntin' Gunga Din. 'E lifted up my 'ead, An' he plugged me where I bled, An' 'e guv me 'arf-a-pint o' water-green: It was crawlin' and it stunk, But of all the drinks I've drunk, I'm gratefullest to one from Gunga Din. It was "Din! Din! Din!" 'Ere's a beggar with a bullet through 'is spleen; 'E's chawin' up the ground, An' 'e's kickin' all around: For Gawd's sake git the water, Gunga Din! 'E carried me away To where a dooli lay, An' a bullet come an' drilled the beggar clean. 'E put me safe inside, An' just before 'e died: "I 'ope you liked your drink," sez Gunga Din. So I'll meet 'im later on At the place where 'e is gone— Where it's always double drill and no canteen; 'E'll be squattin' on the coals, Givin' drink to poor damned souls, An' I'll get a swig in hell from Gunga Din! Yes, Din! Din! Din! You Lazarushian-leather Gunga Din! Though I've belted you and flayed you, By the living Gawd that made you, You're a better man than I am, Gunga Din! Footnotes: You can see from the rhyming 'din' should be pronounced as 'deen' The old joke works well either way. Turns out The Libertines are big Kipling fans and have used him before.........But I wanted to work the old joke in. -
They are tarting up Jomtien beach. At the moment it gets busy at weekends and is packed on special weekends. I've heard the plans do away completely with the areas currently used for parking. That's gonna be fun.

I had the same experience a few years ago.......Thanks to the warning on here and elsewhere I was more alert that I would otherwise have been. Although surrounded I just put my left hand on my iPhone and my right on my wallet and kept them there.....smiling smugly. They smiled back and got off.

I had mine done for the first time there this April.......Being the first time and a belt and braces person.....to prepare I'd had a full service....changed brake pads........new windscreen wipers....(I think you can fail on that in UK)......and had the car in tip top condition.......You'd still worry in England mind!!.. Anyway......They moved it 3 metres from where I'd parked.......opened the bonnet........wrote down (i presume) an engine number and away you go.

I know this isn't quite the right place……..But I was so moved watching some of this. 'I'll be Me' is a film documentary about Glen Campbell's losing battle with Alzheimer's…... Sad, sad end to anyone's life, to have your memories die before you do…….To die alone and without even 'yourself' present. Well he ain't dead yet…..and this clip shows that even without his conscious memory his muscle memory is still there…..Wish I could play like that. Good luck to you Rhinestone Cowboy.

This pilot sounds like a complete mouni. By the way….'mouni' is the greek for an English four letter word, feminine term ending in '_unt'….Not aunt! -
I'll let you know when I next transfer……….You'll find the rate will jump significantly 2 days later.

So by Bankers you mean the Rothschild's….. 'Let me print the money and I don't care what the laws say'….or along those lines can't remember the exact quote. Lincoln also tried to get control of printing dollars I believe. Well whatever! As for nukes…….You may all be interested to know that if you use iTunes…..you will have already agreed not to use Apple products to make a nuclear weapon.
-
Wac….. are the banker's the only villains on the planet??……..Only they have murderous intent?? It always comes back to them!! Everyone else….North Korea…..Putin……..Isis……The US State Dept…….Israel……. are just the Banker's pawns played by Mr Pennyworth! It would be comforting to believe there's someone with control over chaos. We've been here before I believe. Ahh well at least some things are predictable.

This is an interesting recent article……..Gives an assessment of the cards Putin holds and some of the bluff he employs. The last chips his side of the table apart from Europe's energy reliance are the heavy ones…his nukes. Let's hope there are no miscalculations . There's no real reason to think there will be but he must be taken seriously and know that we are serious. …………….By the time of the Cuban missile crisis there were already 150 nuclear weapons in Cuba. http://www.nytimes.com/2015/06/17/world/europe/putin-40-new-missiles-russian-nuclear-arsenal.html

Not sure the BIB will be happy.

2 things to say…….I'm sure there's a TV thread somewhere but here will do. 1. What a bloody cliff-hanging finale for GOT………Great stuff. Must get round to the books sometime. 2. Is anyone else watching the delayed series of Strike Back? It's a shoot 'em up show. The first two episodes of this series are set in BKK.
-
Or Snowden's.

They still have over 8400 nukes…..that's more than any other country. They have to be taken seriously. That's the trouble with nukes……..ransoms can be demanded. The weight of matter that fueled the Hiroshima bomb was equal to a paper clip. It's well known that 'suitcase' bombs have been manufactured, easy to 'lose' one of those……….

Just noticed that the number of Russian channels on my local TV has gone down from 10 to just 1.

For me 'coffee' means…."the person on whom one coughs" -
Couldn't find the 2010 World cup thread quickly enough but this one will do. I am so happy about Blather getting fucked..Well done the FBI But there will be more and more revelations.. even stuff like this.. http://www.wsj.com/articles/fifa-paid-ireland-over-botched-call-1433468185 Should have come out of France's pocketor Henri's. That day Henri sneaked into the Irish dressing room a went through the pockets of every Irish player and the FAI let him do it. I wonder if the English FA got anything for Lampard's goal against Germany?

Why did Greece's bid to host the 2018 Football World Cup fail?
atlas2 replied to Basil B's topic in Funnies Section
The greatest irony is that the country that cares least about football in the whole world is the one putting it's house back in order……... Well done the FBI. -
Oh that's great…….

I thought this was quite a nice estate when I was taking care of a condo there for an ex soi 6 gik who'd married a German. She, or rather they, (never met him) had a corner unit and though the room wasn't decorated to my taste…Too much German 'ommpah' I thought the balcony was great…..It was, large quiet and relaxing. When she was back in Germany I would take her car out every week and check on her room for her. A small price to pay for the extras. Anyway I thought it was a good spot…….Worth a look!

Somehow it will still be the falang's fault…..'He do something wrong……..make machine crazy.' FYI…… A man called George Washington invented instant coffee. Coffee comes from the Arabic meaning…'wine of the bean' The world's first webcam was created at Cambridge to check the status of a coffee pot. Coffee smells better than it tastes because saliva wipes out half the flavour. Starbucks spends more on staff health insurance than it does on coffee beans. It's not a 'bean' it's a fruit pit. There's a shop in France where not saying, 'please' or, 'thank you' makes your coffee more expensive…..I like that one! And finally…The power of Kings…...King Gustave III of Sweden commuted the death sentence of a pair of twins on condition that one drank 3 pots of coffee and the other 3 pots of tea for the rest of their lives. Be interesting to know which one died first. -
It was once green……!!
