  1. Man, I love those whole barbecued squid and eat them almost every day when in Thailand.
  2. Wow, I'd love to restore it. May have been stolen and dumped though, seeing as it is still plated.
  3. Neither do I, however I checked to make sure it wasn't me and mine was a laughing head. Cannot see what would have upset that member, unless he is the Turkish chef....🤔😆
  4. I stayed at the 'purple palace' (Sawasdee Siam) only once, with a couple of maters. We found it bloody awful and the breakfast almost inedible. It was also pretty full of really cheapskate Indians and Russians. It had a fairly good pool and some of the Russians (and I repeat "some") were really fuckable in their tiny bikinis, but the rest were obese. We moved on the 2nd day. This was maybe 10 years ago. Never a 3 star hotel back then.
  5. Well, here in south-east Australia we received a weather alert for most of Thailand but, particularly in the north-east, for flooding danger....
  6. Thanks for that - I rarely go out to the market due to intense heat and, generally, I only want clothes/shoes. I will put that in my (weakening) memory bank.
  7. I was in Hua Hin in late April, but I was with my Thai 'wife' and my 2 daughters (16 & 22). I didn't visit the fun night areas in the dark, but had a look in daylight, so I can't comment on that. It is good to see some nigh photos and read your thoughts about the areas. This trip we stayed at the Hisea Hotel, which is only a few minutes walk to the Hilton, Soi Bintabaht, and also the Night Markets and only a couple of hundred metres to the Naval wharf. My girls wanted to visit the markets every night, so we ate there on 3 nights (in the seafood restaurants where you choose your meal from t
  8. I expected a couple of reds from members of this forum, but I personally think it is funny and that is regardless of what your political leaning is.
  9. The one I saw a while ago said 'Fox News' and another (in Australia) said 'Sky News'. I guess you can change it to suit your own whims and biases....
  10. Maybe he has too much Labia on his mind and mixed it up....?
  11. Looks a bit 'poky' and with nowhere to lay out your suitcase, but obviously quite a nice (new) hotel.
  12. Brilliant - will have to visit there next month. Thanks for the great photos.
  13. Jim, I don't know if you use Skyscanner, but I have booked April 20 to fly Cathay Pacific from Sydney to Bangkok via Hong Kong and the same way back to Sydney a couple of weeks later. The cost was cheaper than other airlines that provide meals, drinks and good luggage allowance. I had to pay about 64AUD to book a seat, but I don't really bother to do that in day flights, so only paid it for the return flight from Hong Kong to Sydney, where I like a window seat to sleep, most of the way, in the night. The cheapest flights with them are around 600AUD return, if you wish to rough it.
  14. Thanks for those shots; I have often wondered what that temple was like inside - now I know.
  15. Pretty sure it was Samoa.... Samui are a bit small. ?
