NFL without cable: A cord-cutter’s guide for the 2017 pro football season
Lucky replied to 4wheels's topic in Sports Talk
The best way is the way I have been watching it the last several years, by subscribing to NFL Gamepass. For $199.95 US you get all of the games plus several shows before and after the games dissecting the performance. It's all in high definition also. It goes without saying that you have to have a decent Net connection. -
I had a pulled pork BBQ sandwich there for lunch today and it was excellent, as good as any BBQ I've had in Thailand. Good service and a comfortable setting, I'll definitely be back.

I was a regular customer that hated to see them go also. Maybe another similar restaurant will open in Jomtien.

I live in Thailand and I have a Thai drivers license for a car but not for a motorcycle. If the traffic is bad in Pattaya like in the evenings or on the weekend I usually ride my motorbike and I was tired of having to go to the police station and pay 400 baht every time that the Pattaya police stopped me. I bought one of the so-called International Drivers Licenses like are advertised online a couple of years ago and it works like a charm. Sure, I know that they aren't legal and you wouldn't try and rent a car in the US with one but I know from using it that it works like a charm in Thailand

That's the reason that I quit flying Thai, I was flying biz and they filled it up with Thais that they upgraded. Like you, I didn't give them a second chance.

I buy steaks from Hickory now and then also and I agree that they are some of the best to be found in Pattaya. I cook them in a similar fashion but I do it in reverse, I sear them on both sides in a stove-top pan and then put them in the oven for another ten minutes, I've never tried it your way. I looked at their new location on the map, I don't know how well they will do down there off the beaten path. If they couldn't make it at their old location I don't think that they will able to make it at their new location either.

I live near Frasers and go there once a month or so. I agree that the Friday steak special is a good deal and that's probably my favorite thing to eat from there although everything that I have ordered from them has been good. Service is usually quite good, my only complaint is that they only have four or five booths and most evenings they are full and you have to sit outside or at one of the large tables inside that aren't very private or comfortable. I think that I would go there a lot more if they had regular tables like most restaurants.

I eat there regularly and they always seem to have great food to me. Thanks for the report.

I have a Macbook Pro as well as a Windows tablet and the kindle application works great on both of them. As for what I have been reading lately I just finished Christopher Moore's Gambling On Magic and I enjoyed it. I guess one reason is that it is loosely based on a real person who is living in Thailand.

My favorite gym in Pattaya is in the Marriott Royal Garden. Plenty of free weights and a juice/coffee bar upstairs,.

A wonderful insight into the Citadel of Hanoi. October 2015
Lucky replied to firth1974's topic in Pictorial Travel Reports
Thanks for the photos and report, it was very informative. I've been to Vietnam a few times and Hanoi a couple of times and while I saw the Hanoi Hilton, Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum and Halong Bay I never made it to see this citadel, I'll be sure and do that my next visit. -
Vietnam Military History Museum, Hanoi. October 2015
Lucky replied to firth1974's topic in Pictorial Travel Reports
Thanks for the great report and photos. I've visited Vietnam several times but my last visit must have been ten years or more ago and I can't remember a war museum in Hanoi although I did visit the prison called the 'Hanoi Hilton' where John McCain was held. This must be a fairly new addition on the Hanoi tourist scene, I think it's time I made another trip :). -
http://dancewatchers.com has quite a few rental units in View Talay 2 and 6, you might take a look there.

Anyone use a good VPN here?
Lucky replied to fttrading09's topic in Technical problems or questions.
I've been using Strong VPN for several years, not free but excellent service. http://strongvpn.com -
I've used a taxi service for the last few years, Samboon Taxi. He is a little more than Mr. T at 1,300 baht Suvarnabhumi to Pattaya but always has new cars and good drivers. His number is 081-932-0559 and I always use him both ways and I've never been let down.

I think you made a good choice, it's hard to beat the Philippines and Thailand for mongering and I always enjoy flying on Philippine Air (as much as you can enjoy flying these days).

I think that most people tip 300 to 500 baht depending on how good they are.

Heaven Above’s Current Specials And Offers
Lucky replied to nutosf's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
Thanks for the info, I've been going to Heaven Above a bit lately and think that they have one of the best lineups in Pattaya. The girls are friendly and I've enjoyed their company while buying them a lady drink. I haven't gotten around to barfining one of them yet but I think that is probably coming up in the near future . -
Dentist Recommendations
Lucky replied to OzzieDaz's topic in Doctors, Dentists, Clinics and Hospitals
Two of the most popular dentists with the expats are Dr. Aree at Pattaya International and the German Dental Clinic going up the hill to Jomtien. I have used both and recommend both of them highly but they aren't the cheapest in town. -
The 75th Masters Golf Tournament Augusta Georgia
Lucky replied to GREEN MALAKA's topic in Sports Talk
I like Dustin Johnson or Mickelson, Tiger looks good so far but I'm not sure that he can put together four great rounds. -
I have used Dr. Aree many times and always received excellent service. I needed a crown a couple of years ago and I had several Pattaya expat friends who had good experiences with the German Dental Clinic on Thappraya going up the hill to Jomtien. I went there for the crown, received excellent service, and I've been going back since for regular cleaning since it's located much closer to my condo than Pattaya International. IMO you can't go wrong with Dr. Aree or German Dental but they aren't the cheapest in Pattaya.

They were very good for the money. I hadn't eaten there for a while but they were in institution in Pattaya ten years ago. Sad to see them go but there is a lot more competition for the tourist food dollar nowadays.

For me Songkran is the worst time of the year in Pattaya. I always do what many Pattaya expats do during Songkran and head for Angeles City in the Philippines. One year one of the AC bars even had a huge banner out front that read, "Welcome Songkran Refugees" .
