Just got to use it for the first time and it was great. Three machines in Seattle, no waiting. Even the fingerprint reader worked fine and I would have to think that would be the part most subject to glitches. My bags were among the first out so I got out of the airport faster than I generally do on domestic flights.

It used to be where Shennanigan's was located before it moved across the street.

Another option is at approximately the same price is Dicey Rileys, the faux Irish place in front of the JW Marriott. Not a recommendatio--I will have to see whether it's any good, but it's the one I came across when I was looking

Mike's is a nice change of pace. You're not in El Paso so you have to adjust your expectations but you have to do that at times in the U.S. when you are away from the border. Fot those staying at the Residence Garden, it's an easy walk up the hill and there is a sign on Thrappaya so you can't miss it.

Publishing Emails and PMs received. Is it always wrong?

The appellate courts would have to be rather faster in the UK than in the US to hear and decide an appeal in 7 1/2 months. -
I'm using a funky Android based (NookColor) tablet because I am traveling. On the old software, the IP.Board skin worked just fine. New software would not allow me to make a reply until I switched to the IP Board Mobile skin. Not impressed so far.

Supply shortages leading to higher prices
nkped replied to MM's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Just came by road from Udon to Nakhon Phanom and saw lots of rice ready for harvest. Wonder if the floods will result in a better selling price for the folks who do have rice to sell. Sorry, but when you grow up on a farm, you think of things like that. -
Is there a currency exchange in the departure area
nkped replied to bigdelta's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Don't want to be snarky, but unless you are severely cash strapped or KNOW you are never coming back, better to keep your baht for the next trip. Yes, the exchange rate could improve, but I wouldn't count on it. But to answer the original, legitimate question, many currency booths in the departure area. -
I am not worthy.

What are the biggest urban myths in Pattaya / Thailand?
nkped replied to Siam Sam's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
If she's calling her "pimp" it's not to tell her how much I agreed to pay as I don't discuss that in advance of the time for actual payment unless, of course, she asks. -
Pattayatalk will be down Nov 5 morning CST
nkped replied to MM's topic in Technical problems or questions.
Well, I trust you didn't get notice right after you took advantage of a pay 6 months in advance, get one month free offer. Hope to "hear" from you all on the other side. Otherwise, we could all end up in the outer darkness with BigD -
I'll be in Thailand on the 11th but a couple of days short of Pattaya. Gentlemen, glad to hear that they have this planned.

What are the biggest urban myths in Pattaya / Thailand?
nkped replied to Siam Sam's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
A little dated but back in the day, we heard that Singhai and other local beer had formaldehyde in it. -

A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds. -
Nate - Go back to sleep now, it was all just a bad dream.

Should we put off travel due to floods?
nkped replied to ozinpatts's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
So much for the idea that mongers will persevere in the face of adversity. -
Good to hear that as I will be doing much the same on Nov 7 at about the same time. I would definitely not be happy if, instead, I were to find myself that night in some dive in Itaewon and having a 50 something BG saying "I know you" and being right .

And there are at least as many left of center live naturally types as there are right-wing nuts who subscribe to the anti-vaccination paranoia.
-
Reminds me of the old line that going down on an Olangapo BG was like going down on the whole 7th Fleet.

As I read the seat guru chart, the D seats have the same problem. I think you are looking for a G seat.

Some poor TG with a lurker membership probably tossed her tom yum because of that.

We have a winner. Voting on the Pattaya Talk "Honest post of the year award for 2011" is now closed.

I do keep my billfold in a front pocket when I am out and about in Pattaya. The idea, possibly unfounded, is that it would be harder for a pickpocket to lift it from the front pocket without my noticing. In the room, I leave the cash, credit cards and other stuff I can't possibly need in the course of an evening in the safe and don't sweat it otherwise. If my friend for the evening is inclined and capable of getting into the safe while I'm taking a shower, I was probably going to have a crappy night anyway. BTW I agree with the comments in recent threads that most BGs are not going

I'm not as certain of this as I might like but I tend to think not. In two hours all I would be doing is getting my ashes hauled. Nothing wrong with that occasionally but there are simpler ways to get that done, and done well, in Pattaya. Also, what's her motive--is it just an extra 1,500 bht or something a whole lot more complex and risky. And yeah, there is some element of respect for the other guy.
