By affinity, I'm hoping the Red Wings can make a respectable showing despite their late season fall-off. By geographic proximity, waiting to see how and when the Canucks choke this year.

anybody seen one of these bad boys?

And your point is? -
The meaning of "farang (I suppose "foreign") name" in a real estate listing?
-
I was thinking of something a whole lot more exotic than that--perhaps something akin to a body Snatcher.

You see the blue and yellow meter taxis around Pattaya. Haven't had occasion to use one, but it could happen. Do they use (ever use) the meter for trips around Pattaya/Jomtien?

We certainly know what "empty shell" means. Wonder what the "company name" in a real estate listing is supposed to mean. I would be a bit concerned about a seller that wasn't any better about marketing that this. Why would they be better at anything else?

True, but I suspect at least part of it is people responding on mobile devices where deleting part of the quotation is, at the very least, difficult. -
I had the same question. Perhaps we missed the secret handshake.

Carrying Passport in Thailand!
nkped replied to Bornloser's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I would be more inclined to give the BIB the benefit of the doubt. They had a guy who assaulted people and really didn't need to be walking the streets of their fair city. The immigration violation gave them a convenient route to make him go away. I do carry my U.S. driver's license in Thailand as I'm now old enough to actually understand that any outing could end in the hospital. Generally not the pp. -
I was thinking of Southwest Airlines before I hit the start button. Once when taking a Southwest flight across Texas, the female flight attendant describe how we could use the seat cushion as a flotation device in the event we landed in someone's jacuzzi. She had several other good lines, but that's the only one I could remember.

It's the internet. Since when does there need to be a point?

We are all familiar with secure web sites--https--and they seem to work. But if they can be accessed by anyone who can get on the internet, how unbreakable is the encryption, really?

Beautiful studio condo for rent in Jomtien 6500 per month
nkped replied to ericg1953's topic in The Market
I have to agree with Paps, it does look like quite a bargain. Even if I retire this year, I doubt I will be looking for a one year lease (not yet anyway), but still. It's not a very big studio, but looks to be nicely appointed in a good complex. It's not that far down the Jomtien beach road and close the baht bus route. You would have to take the baht bus over the hill, but once you're on it, it shouldn't be that much longer. -
In the words of a wise woman, "Farang think too much."

I wouldn't rule out the possibility, but in the U.S. the tendency to go without the shirt in inappropriate places tends to be limited to younger guys who want to show off their "guns."
-
In Pattaya I will wear shorts and some kind of collared shirt during the day and switch to long pants at night. If I was trying to make friends with a GTG in a store or restaurant during the day, I would go with the long pants.

It looks like he is still with us as recently as December 26, either that or he found the ISP with the ultimate in an extended service area.

Renting condo 3 months--how far in advance

Thanks for the advice. Hadn't come across dancewatchers before, certainly a user friendly site and worth a click just to see the home page. For the Google challenged--http://dancewatchers.com/ -
Renting condo 3 months--how far in advance
nkped posted a topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
The next trip is probably a year away. On the other hand, unless I lose my mind or the market tanks completely, it will be after retirement and, thus, longer. Right now thinking 3 months. That will obviously be high season. I'm thinking of a condo in the rather broad range of 20,000-30,000 baht. Looking around the board, I've found a number of sites to check out possibilities. My question is how far in advance should I get serious about making reservations? -
I don't fill in the departure date or flight when I go through immigration on arrival and have never had a problem (there's always a first time). I have always had the reservation and it has always been within the allowed 30 days but things can happen and the departure card is one of those documents where I figure you probably don't want to be making corrections. When I get to the airport for departure, I fill in the date and flight and sign the departure card.

For me, it's close to a toss-up between Korean and Eva. From Seattle, Eva departs in the middle of the night, which gets harder and harder as the birthdays go by but gets to Bangkok before noon. A couple of things about economy seating on Eva. If you ever get booked on one of their 747s where they allow you to select a seat on the upper deck, that is one of the best economy seats you will ever get, more leg room and a better chance of an empty seat next to you. But if you are on one of their long-haul 777s (777-300ER), you need to check http://www.seatguru.com because most of the aisle sea

To follow up, it was quite good. Appears the restaurant is operated by the J.W. Marriott. One of the staff who dropped by the table to ask if the food was good sounded like he was American and had a shirt saying "Executive Chef." Probably helped to have somebody with an idea of what the food was supposed to taste like as roast turkey and ham aren't common menu items in Thailand. Other than having Guiness on tap, the Irish aspects of the establishment are not very noticeable. The highly decorative hostess in a Heineken mini-dress (hey, it was green) was greatly appreciated. The sign

Same, and while I doubt I have as many trips to LOS as Evil, I have had at least one a year since 2002. They also tell you a little bit about what to do including a short run through on a kiosk machine.
