I'm sure someone has made the trip recently, but when I did it pre-Swampy, I don't seem to remember it being that long (30 minutes???) on a week-end day before going past the sign for the new airport location. Still not a treat.

What most of us think of as Mexican food is Tex-Mex. A Mexican-American from the border area will have a hard time finding old home cooking in the interior. For that matter, it varies from one area to another along the border.

They do turn up on a Google search (somewhere Joe is smiling) in a few places including farang boards based in Korat and Buriram. Unfortunately, no one admits to actually flying with them. One of aircraft they fly is a twin engine Piper--some suggest they have only one of them which would be a concern. Supposedly, they also fly Airbus 320s on international routes.

Works in Chrome as well. You have way too much time on your hands Tom. It does appear you have some data reception errors there in the south.

And now we have to go to a BM's profile to see his overall reputation rather than see it on every post? Geez, that's no fun. What are we going to whine post about now.

Help Send Pitbull .. To The Most Remote Walmart In America
nkped replied to SmellyFarang's topic in Funnies Section
I was thinking of Kodiak when I saw the thread title. Never been inside the Walmart but have driven past it. There are maybe 8,000 people who can drive to it so Kodiak is not that small as places in Alaska go, but it is an island. Off-topic, but dude, that avatar has to go. Enough with the self-portraits. -

I don't know about conspiracies, no one sent me the meeting notice, but it would appear you do have a stalker.

Gary, Where would that be?

No personal experience with VT6 but it would seem to have one principal advantage and one principal disadvantage, both of which would be location. I will be staying in VT2 for three months at the beginning of next year and will share my thoughts then and will let you know whether being on the baht bus route fills the bill.

And sometimes when you are just trying to enlarge your view on an Android, you instead, cast a negative vote. Hate it when that happens.

It would be interesting to hear what happened after landing for the planes that diverted to Utapao. When you are low on fuel, getting wheels on the ground is the critical thing, but is not the end of the story when you land at an airport which is not set up to service big international flights.

Just got a pop-up saying I had exceeded my number of positive ratings for the day. Thought there wasn't a limit. And yes, I should follow my own advice from some other thread. Don't take this so seriously.

Well, they had an electrical storm recently. Now, if HIMSELF checks Google Maps and gets HIS targeting down.

Dancewatchers VT6 studio #566 - 4-month review
nkped replied to SmellyFarang's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
That catches my attention because I have a reservation at VT2 with Dancewatcher at the end of the year and the confirmation said I will need to pay the balance in cash baht when I arrive. Obviously, need to/will ask them whether there is a credit card option. -
I've done it and may do it again, but let's be real, if you are riding on the back platform, you are in deep trouble if almost anything happens beyond hitting a pot-hole.

Gives new meaning to the expression "butt dialing."

Why do Thais spend so long at the ATM"s
nkped replied to simon_cook's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Here, i wonder why it is that i end up behind the person who is arranging the refinancing of the Greek financial system at my local Starbucks. -
Some of the Nook directions suggests you can't shop Barnes & Noble for e-books while outside the U.S. Not so, or at least not last November. Downloaded an e-book using the wi-fi at the RG just fine. I understand the thought and I feel guilt about liking my Nook so much, but I do. If nothing else, it's a matter of weight and volume. Being able to read in bed without having to position a light is a neat thing as well.

Libertarians used to say "Your freedom ends at the tip of my nose." Smoking doesn't pass that test.

Why does Tiger Woods not recognize his Thai heritage
nkped replied to m_holmes's topic in Idle Chit Chat
I'm unclear as to the premise of the question. I'm not a golf fan or a reader of the tabloids but it's hard to avoid having heard a lot about Tiger if you watch ESPN Sports Center or read the sports page. Still I have paid some attention because he was an interesting story and, but for an accident of biology, I could have had a Thai/American son or daughter almost his age. Right from the beginning the stories mentioned his Thai mother. A few years back, certain people in the U.S. criticized him for not acknowledging his African-American heritage. In response he made a somewhat lame joke about being a Asian-African-Scot-English-American due to the white guys in his dad's family tree. His dad was always very visible and a major influence, but that's understandable. After all, the man was a Special Forces lite colonel. But he never hesitated to acknowledge or be seen with his mother, particularly during his dad's final illness. I seem to remember him appearing in at least a few golf events in Thailand that were clearly premised on his Thai heritage. Then when his marriage fell apart and his career got knocked off course due to his philandering, he said that he had been raised as a Buddhist and attributed his problems to having strayed from his religious upbringing.
