Everyone should graduate from the basic, hand held reach back and clean model, and join the team Toto. Toto is a Japanese company which makes bum washers. These things work like a charm. For colder countries there is even a seat warmer! Just google "toto washlet" and go nuts. Here is a link. http://www.totousa.com/prodcatalog.asp?cid=41 Cheers, FatherMojo

Please make a decent loo! Some of the crappers in this town are crappy. Use Gulliver's on Beach Road as a guide. It is a great nice and clean crapper. Can't wait to see the new layout! FatherMojo

The Butchers Arma

No website and singhapleez is right, the rooms are done up nicely with dark wood all around. They do not have a website and I think the maximum room price is 950 baht. One quality pool table and the food ain't bad either. They are girl friendly, but I did not see heavy traffic with people running in and out of the place so use your judgement with your activities. There is a CD/DVD player and the standard cable TV channels. Anyway, I only have 3 pictures (from December 2006) of the place and here they are: Mirrors on the closet to make the room look bigger. Apologies for the towels hanging over the chair... The bathroom has an enclosed shower to keep the water in one location. Nice and comfy bed I can recommend this place as a clean, modestly price guest house located in Soi Bukao with everything you need nearby. Please enjoy your stay! FatherMojo -

Ouch! Thanks for the links Aussiechic. Copy from Green Park... "Validity Now - 31 Oct '06 and 16 April '07 - 31 Oct ' 07 Stay and pay for 6 consecutive nights & get the 7 night for free incl. ABF" For the prices they are charging you would think they could update their website with the proper dates. I think, and I could be wrong, that most of the guests at these places are part of the package tourist crowd. FatherMojo

I think he is referring to Pattaya Discovery Beach Hotel. It is locate on Soi 6/1 and Beach Road. FatherMojo

I walked through the Nova Platinum Hotel during the New Year's holiday and here is a brief report. http://www.amari.com/novaplatinum/hotels-roomsrates.asp 78 rooms (34 Superior and 44 Deluxe) Deluxe = pool and garden view. The hotel is located at the old bowling alley located on Pratamanak Road. Second Road turns into Pratamanak Road just before the left turn towards Jomtiem. The lobby is spaciously laid out in red and it feels very airy. There is a restaurant and a pool. Heading to your room you will be greeted by a hallway. Hmmm... all the doors seem to have the same spacing between each other. The rooms are nicely laid out, but they are all the same size.... 24sq meters. This is nice hotel, but on the expensive side. Checking their website for 17 Apr to 24 Apr holiday stay, the costs ranged from USD 54 per night to USD 96 per night +10% Service Charge and 7% VAT. So let's say for a 7 night stay you will cough up about 14k~25k Baht. No thank-you. Even though this place is sparkling new and clean, I cannot recommend it as a good value. Those prices for a 24 square meter room are crazy. There is not even a place to comfortably eat your Phad Thai and watch the telly. FatherMojo

Do you give money to beggars?
FatherMojo replied to benny27's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I usually buy gum from the guy sitting between Pattayaland and McD's going towards Walking Street. His English is actually pretty good and the gum is 10 baht a pack. 10 baht seems like a fair price. The little kids hawking the same gum for 20 baht on Soi 8 get zero from me. Have any of you seen the ladyboy with a baby looking for money? I saw her/him on the news and then when I got in country, I saw her in the flesh and back to her old tricks. I guess she made bail. FatherMojo -
I'm lazy I like all the ladies. FatherMojo

pasadena lodge soi lk metro.
FatherMojo replied to singhapleez's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
From the bottom of Soi 7 Beach Road... Hop on the baht bus and get off at Mike's Shopping Mall. Walk through the mall to Second Road and you will see Kiss restaurant across the street and on on the corner. That is Soi Diana. Walk up this soi for about 3 minutes and Soi LK Metro is on the left. If you have mobility problems, grab a moto taxi at Mike's and he can drop you off at Soi LK Metro. From Soi LK Metro to Soi 7... Either walk down to Second Road and catch a baht bus or walk up to Soi Bukaow and grab a baht bus. The wild card with the Soi Bukaow baht bus is that you need to make sure it is turning left towards Topps. Some of the buses go to Big C and some go to beach road. My advice is to walk to Second Road and go from there. But like I said, if you have mobility problems, then just grab a moto taxi. Enjoy! FatherMojo -
"Duan Nam Ing" quoted me 1,000 per night during high season. I imagine that it will be about 700~800 per night after high season. The rooms were nothing special, just the standard boxy type like J&P, Opey de Place etc. But the place is new and I have not heard any reports from anyone who has stayed there so there are no comments on water pressure, hot water, cable TV etc. One thing was strange... the hand rail going from the ground floor up to the next level was very low... felt like it was made for kids. forest51, If you really are looking for a place in Soi Bukaow, then I would suggest booking a place and then getting out your walking shoes. Start at one end of the soi and go to town. FatherMojo

The place has a pool and the name of the hotel is "Duan Nam Ing" I walked through the place around the 6th of January. No in-room safes, but has lock boxes behind reception. FatherMojo

I walked past there yesterday (22 Dec 2007) and the lobby does look a lot better. Also the resturant/bar area has been redone and it is a huge improvement. FatherMojo

For sale! Unopened package 2GB xD-picture card. Great to remember those intimate moments! Something near 2,500 Baht. Will be in town from the 22nd. FatherMojo

Yes Piero, I presumed that it took you awhile to compile the information and that is another reason why I did not feel right about including the Wifi, internet, joiner information or photos. Those items are typically gathered by actual visits, emails, phone calls and I did not feel right lifting that portion. Ideally, both lists would have email listings for the hotels without websites. Maybe that will be the next step with my site. If/when that is done, you can copy the info and add to your site. We all appreciate the work you put into your list. If you like, I could put a link to your site on my page. Feel free to copy the links for the items not covered on your website. Cheers, FatherMojo You are correct, but how many one man gangs have the time to contact each hotel to confirm the particulars about joiners? Some hotels say the first joiner is free and some say that there is a fee for 2 or more. I do not have the time to check and continually re-check information as policies change. If the list were just a few, then sure no problemo. But the list is around 300 hotels long. If I had all the emails then I would send out a bulk email and query. Hmmm.... that just gave me an idea!! Let's keep it accurate for the viewers: stereo, secrets, nirvana, the rock house and a couple more were added. Additionally, names and locations were cleaned up and lots of extraneous data (prices, photos, joiner fees, internet access, WiFi etc) was omitted. With my limited web building knowledge, I had to manually update the links which took a bit of time and I searched for hotels without URLs listed. Most people would like a simple, clean, one page listing of the hotels along with their associated links and would not have a problem foregoing the extraneous data mentioned above. There is plenty of room for different versions of hotel website listings and the current intention for my website is to keep it as simple as possible. FatherMojo and remember to buy dear old dad a drink or 2 later FatherMojo
