I've stayed at thr Royal River as part of an air/hotel package deal. the place is getting a bit run down and is quite aways from most anything, might be good if out of the way is what your looking for and you can use the water taxi's. their breakfeast buffet is quit nice though, with omletts and waffles made to order and euro and thai fare. If I remeber correctly there is a "joiners" fee although they are very guest friendly, just that they have their own "bg's" at their disco.

hate to tell ya but I think your fucked if you want to fly NW 19/27-20/28 msp to bkk which is the shortest flight. really hard to say with NW, you can look 3or4 times a day and availablity and prices differ. look at there promotions section and see if they have any cash and miles promotions. if you are locked into a time frame you may want to try a couple of the agancys in chicago, they have block seats usally about 1k on united or delta or american, msp-ohare-tokyo-bkk r/t. 1- thaifly.com 2- angleair.com one other option with NW is to look at msp-sin, sometimes they have specials

wow I cann't imagion wanting to get on an aircraft that holds 800 pax. even with the additional jetways, having 800 people looking for 1600 bags at bag claim and then everybody ay customs and taxi stand competing with one another would tend to make me postal, even if i did save a couple hours flight time.

just as a note, you don't have to do 2 nights at the dynesty to ride down in their van which is a quick and efficent ride. if you don't stay at the dynesty the ride costs 350bt one way. I did it last time, payed the fare, tipped the drive grabbed by bags and jumped on a bhtbus on second road to my hotel, real slick.

Jeffy my brother you are right again, since NWA switched sevice from 747-200 from nrt-bkk to that fucking a330 they haven't had any decent regular airfares to bkk because of the reduced number of seats fron the 747 to a330. one condideration when checking fights is flying into Singapoe (sin) instead and then taking flying tigers or airasia to bkk, you could even do groung transport to pucket and than fly direct to pty. the dates I checked it was $1300USD from msp-bkk r/t and the same dates to sin were $890USD, depending on times i could fly tiger air for less than $50USD from sin-bkk r/t,

(or is it one block over on soi dianna?, don't remember) I checked out the one that is actully on the end of soi honey and soi buckow and at that did not stay there just looked at the standard room which was OK and the out door pool which was nice. compared to the Seaview down by beach road on soi10, this was nice.

you can find many hotels in quite areas but unless you "see " were the room is and if and who your niebors are, don't know about noise! I rather enjoyed the "screamer" I had next to me last trip, quite entertaining, byt the trip before had a bounder above me, very annoying, moved quickly. be flexable, try a few new places, keep us updated. cheers rb

stopped in for a look (march05) and was not impressed with the condition of the rooms or there cleanliness, especially the batrhroom. the one the have on soi buckow and soi honey were "MUCH" nicer.
