1. I have a picture of the room. I could just imagine what the burka babes were saying on the elevator while I was bringing this one up.
2. They charge 1000 baht joiner and the hotel is showing signs of aging.
3. Carl's Jr has good marketing
4. I went there yesterday, not a long hike since I live next door. Mushroom burger was very tasty, with fries and unlimited beverage (unfortunately not available for Heineken draft) for 239 I think. Much better than MacDonalds or Bk I'd say. Sure, the burgers are messy, they're supposed to be, it's their claim to fame. Now if there was only an In-And-Out Burger.
5. I've stayed at this hotel many times. Definitely ask for a room in the back, the noise from Sukhumvit can be disturbing. The 999 walk-in rate is a great deal, but only available weekdays I believe. However, I prefer the City Lodge on Soi 19. For only a few hundred baht more, the rooms are larger and location is ideal for either BTS or MRT, and right next door to the new mall, with a 6 or 7 minute walk to Soi Cowboy.
6. I stopped there for Taco Tuesday a few months ago, my mistake. Only Blue Parrot now for my Mexican food fix. I do enjoy the mango margaritas at Tequila Reef, however.
7. Beefeater has all-U-can-eat ribs, with chicken and make-ur-own tacos Saturday and Sunday from noon until 4 for 250, one of the better deals in town I think. BTW, there's an Outback in Siam Discovery Center in Bangers, but haven't tried their ribs, just the ribeye.
8. I tried the full rack ribs here, wasn't real impressed, but sure didn't leave hungry, sides were huge. Was also disappointed in the China Garden, same ownership, wouldn't dine there again. At Jolly Frier, fish was good but chips were awful. Many thanks to the OP for taking the time to do an excellent formal review.
9. The Cool House Restaurant on Pattaya Klang near Beach Road has a 50 baht breakfast of 2 eggs, 2 toast with jam and butter, pineapple juice, coffee or tea, and choice of bacon, sausage, or ham. Since Sailor Restaurant includes all 3 for only 5 baht more, it is better value, but Cool House has free Wifi.
10. I had breakfast at the Sailor Restaurant just this morning. Either it's still 55 baht, or I left a 1 baht tip.
11. Good combo plates for 250, pitcher of margaritas for 470. My favorite place for Mexican in Patts.
12. That's true but the OP states he has a multiple-entry tourist visa, so he gets 60 days on entry regardless by land or air.
13. Try clearing cookies and browser cache.
14. There is no 10 baht taxi to Jomtien Frannie, hasn't been for much more than 10 years. The Penthouse is well-known for engaging in unethical business practices. In fact, in some circles it's known as The SPAM WORD hotel. I'm glad they removed the handcuffs from the rooms, but they should have focused on the bugs. Don't you think?
15. Anyone who has actually stayed at the Penthouse Hotel knows that it's a shit hole.
16. Speaking of handcuffs, I remember they were in the room the time I stayed at the Penthouse. Been staying there 10 years you say, and this is your FIRST post. I'd say you're a FAKE trying to promote this hotel. Nice try, Bud. And thanks for the negative reputation. You've make your point, and I guarantee I will never stay at this bug-infested, fire trap again.
17. The Issan girls like to eat bugs so it saves you from having to order out for food.
18. I stayed at the Penthouse once, in one of the suites on the 5th floor. Room had jacuzzi, dance podium, mirrored ceiling, and love swing, TV had a live feed to Kittens. It was OK to try out once but I wouldn't stay there again, and wouldn't recommend it. Hotel is old and located in a mostly gay area. Certainly not anything close to 4-star.
19. That's for Carlsberg draft at the two different pubs, Pig & whistle charges 100 baht/pint for Heineken, 99 baht/pint at Rosies..Carlsberg is priced 30% higher at these two pubs. I'd like to know who sells bottles for 35 baht, I'll go there and buy some.
20. The 46 baht/bottle was for the standard size bottle, same price as Beer Lao. If you'll notice at Pig & Whistle and Rosie O'Grady's, draft Calsberg has been priced 30% higher than Heineken draft, 130 baht/pint and 129 baht/pint, respectively.
21. Carlsberg at Foodmart: 46 baht per bottle, supermarket near View Talay 1 in Jomtien.
22. I have stayed at both, and would never stay at Flipper Lodge again because of the excessive street noise.
23. CentralFestival mall, either in the basement or on the third floor.
