Well if the reason to avoid a place because it has Indian, Russian and Arab guests then you may as well stay away from Pattaya. I have been staying at one or the other Sabai properties for perhaps the last 3 or 4 years and there is a complete mix of all races and types. Very few Americans but plenty Germans, British and French. The only issues that I have seen were some Turkish guys felt that they were on a romantic date and decided that the pleasure of their company was better than money and refused to pay. Security soon sorted that out. My guess but on the basis that I am pool side nearly every day that at least 50 % of the Sabai clientele fall into the three race bracket above but I would without hesitation recommend the Sabai group to anyone.

Thanks Andy. I know where this place is and the location is perfect so I will look forward to that.

Thanks but this thread which I did read tells you absoloutly nothing about the Yensabai Condos or the area that they surrounds them other than a general comment about lady boys. It is clear from Evils post that he has been in the Yensabai area of late but he again didnt mention the Condo's as there are other options in the area. Based on this look about he has given a heads up about the area and thats exactly what I was looking for rather than generalities. Perhaps Cicero will come back with the promised report?

Can someone point me to it please. I cannot find it.

Thanks to all the those that have been responding to this thread. Looking at the usual booking sites such as Agoda and Sawadee I believe that prices are on the rise and perhaps more people in the future will be looking at alternatives. The following are some of the points that my research have bought up. Apartments and condos under say 20000 baht a month are hit and miss if you look at the reviews and check the map for the location. For instance the best buy by far was the Yensabai apartments but the neighbourhood seems so difficult that I have stopped considering it. The reviews are enlightening and the problem is to know what is real and what is not. One place I saw had only 2 reviews and one was 1 out of 5 and the other was 5 out of 5 so go figure. The rental agencies seem dreadful to deal with at a distance in that the terms and conditions some impose are draconian. You have toll of a lot of digging only to find that the lease is for a year, needs 3 months deposit and will only accept cash and so on and on. If you are not interested in finding your way back to Jomptien, Naklua or the dark side a look at Google maps is a must. Some of the places shown as being "Central Pattaya" are not! I have researched dozens of places and I will keep looking but the moral of the story is clear. You need to bite the bullet and do the leg work while you are in Pattaya and not just rely on the Internet. If you see a place advertised on the Agoda type agencies I would always Google the place and look at its own website. I do believe that I will have to soften my insistence on a swimming pool and accept that it might be better to pay 100 baht for the days that I swim. This in itself will open up the search parameters. This year alone I will have spent well over 100,000 baht on accommodation and that seems a bargain for a hotel (looking at the accommodation web sites) but if I want to keep coming to Pattaya at least 3 times a year I need to keep the search going. I do still believe that this is where this forum is very useful and worth the occasional irritation. I still look forward to suggestions.

Thanks Mick. Between you and Evil I have made my mind up. I guess when we talk about accommodation if its to good to be true then it is. Teelack, just stay the fu@k away from there, yet more stupid unreliable information from the worlds biggest clown and bullshitter
-
Thanks Evil. That is the sort of no nonsense, no bull shit response I was looking for.
-
Not particularly helpful as I was looking from some comments from people that actually knew the area and could advise if it is safe or otherwise.
-
I would appreciate it if you would expand on that please. You obviously know the area and have a strong opinion.

Thanks D. I like the place on paper and the rooms are well priced. I guess that the only down side is walking down those streets at 3 am but I guess that it might be worth while paying 60 baht for a MC taxi. I also dont like giving my credit card details however the 2000 baht deposit is quite reasonable. One extra advantage is that the high season rates do not come in till the 15th of November and this is 2 weeks after most places. Anyone else been down the Soi Yensabai area recently?
-
Have looked at them and I believe them to be overpriced for what you get.
-
Thanks everyone. I had another look at that site and the rates and location are fine. My only concern, as Mick pointed out is the lack of towels and clean bedding so I need to do some home work on what the extra costs of that service would be.
-
One of the reasons that I posed the question here is that so many of the listed apartments have a one year minimum lease and it got tedious wading through them.

Just wondering if anyone had any ideas on a condo/apartment reasonably central to Pattaya (not Jomptien or Naklua). My hotel is quite reasonable but for just less than a month straddling October / November it will cost me about 35000 baht. I am trying to do three trips a year and this is getting expensive. I am looking in the 20000 baht range and only other stipulation is that it must have pool or easy access to one. Any thoughts?

Looking at rooms in Central Pattaya I came across this place. There are few up to date reviews and I wonder if anyone has stayed there.
-
Thanks for the posting. Its a good primer for anyone looking to move to Pattaya.
-
Anyone got an update on this place please. Its on top of my list for next stay.

Center Condo, South Pattaya
teelack replied to fordtech's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
This looks like a good place and the rooms look good and big. The one bedroom unit at 23500 would suit me. Can someone tell me what its going to cost to get some house keeping and what the approx. price for utilities are say for a month? Also, is there anywhere handy for swimming that you can buy on a daily basis? Thanks -
Thanks Doc. The $1700 dollar flight is on Thais own site. The travel agents are offering between $1360 and $1400. By the sound of it there may be some specials around the corner so I might wait. By the way the SC flight in comparison is $1062 so its quite a saving and because of the arrival time ties up with Bell bus and that's another $30.

The air fares into Bangkok for later this year have rocketed and I am still to book. I can however get a great deal with China Southern via Guangzhou. Has anyone any comments, best seat tips or just forget them thoughts? I like the fact that I get into Bangkok just after 10am but it a longish flight.

Private Dancer A Gogo
teelack replied to Private Dancer's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
Hi there Mr Private Dancer! I am interested to know if the July happy hour worked out for you starting at 1am. I did use it and what was impressive was that there was never an issue with the charging which always seems to be an issue with specials of this type. I am only asking because I want these specials to keep happening! -
Some oldies here but I have filched the sperm bank one. It is already winging its way across the globe! Thanks

Canterbury Tales Cafe & Bookshop/Book exchange
teelack replied to thaidave991's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Any readers out there I can recommend this place for books. I always bring books with me and have never had a problem trading these in for others at the CT. Whereas MM mentioned Kindle my issue is a bit different. There are at least two libraries in the hotel that I stay in of books I presume are left by guests. I am aware however that the offering at the CT has some really interesting Thai books of the Private Dancer sort and the selection is the best that I have seen in Pattaya.- 73 replies

Pattaya Tours & Travels
teelack replied to Pattayatours's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
A subject that comes up often is getting a reliable and reasonably priced deal for travel to and from Pattaya to Siem Reap, Phnom Pehn and Sihanoukville. Does your company do this form of travel?
