MK Restaurant, Central Festival (updated March 20, 2016)
teelack replied to Evil Penevil's topic in Restaurants and food
Thanks Evil. I pass by these places but have never dined that way so your review was very interesting. I suggested to a lady last time I was there that we go to a Thai place that does these meals and she said that she didn't think my stomach could handle it! Ah well, its yet another Pattaya experience on the Bucket List. -
News flashes: Now on sale at IKEA - beds for lesbians: no nuts or screwing involved, it's all tongue and groove. A Muslim has been shot with a starting pistol; police say it's definitely race related. Due to a water shortage in Ireland, Dublin swimming baths have announced they are closing lanes 7 and 8. I got a letter from Screw Fix Direct thanking me for my interest, but explaining they were not a dating agency. The lead actor in the local pantomime production of Aladdin was anally raped by the gay genie on stage last night - to be fair the audience did try to warn him. Such an unfair world. When a man talks dirty to a woman its considered sexual harassment. When a woman talks dirty to a man its £2.50/min (charges may vary) Got stopped in the street outside Boots today by a woman with a clipboard asking "What products do I use for grooming?" She was a bit taken aback when I replied, "Smarties". Just booked a table for Valentine's Day for me and the wife. Bound to end in tears though - she's crap at snooker. Got a new Jack Russell pup today, he's mainly black and brown with just a small white area so I've called him Bradford. If you get an email telling you that you can catch Swine Flu from tins of ham then delete it. It's Spam. They say that sex is the best form of exercise. Now correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think 2 minutes and 15 seconds every 6 months is going to shift this beer belly. When I was a kid people used to cover me in chocolate and cream and put a cherry on my head. Yeah, life was tough in the gateau.

My monthly thanks for your monthly offering. You are required reading for me.

Thanks. I have heard good things about this place and have been hoping for a revue.

I may be missing something here but the staff have never been an issue to me. I go into many restaurants and they take my order and deliver my food. This is exactly what this place does and I have never encountered any rudeness.

Best High End Guest Friendly in Pattaya
teelack replied to tedturner01's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
My suggestion would be to try somewhere well known to be guest friendly like the Sabai or Eastiny groups and simply book the best room. For 3000/4000 baht a night you will get something approaching a suite and be guaranteed that you will have no issues. -
Boon's Birthday Party - Cherry Bar - 27th July - 8pm
teelack replied to Hammer's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
I hope that Boon has a great birthday. She deserves it. Attached is one of my favourite photos of Boon. -
Interesting observations here. I had never been in this place till last year and tried a light meal and it was just what I needed, cheap and filling. It has to be amongst the cheapest places in central Pattaya. Last month I did a return visit and had two meals there. The first was dreadful and the second they got the wrong item. This place is OK for many and fills a hole in the Pattaya scene but I think there has to be better out there.

Pictures of the girls working in Babydolls.
teelack replied to sinkorswim's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
The point about many go go bars in Pattaya is that there is an 'overall experience' rather than a collection of stunners. Baby Dolls is a place that I go to for an overall entertainment package and that is what you get. If you visit the place a bit you will find that some of the girls are gems. This is not about looks. This is about ugly old bastards like me getting looked after and entertained. I have been going there for ages because I get the package when I want but the girls are also happy to leave you on your own with a beer if that is the mood that you are in. I can sit back and watch the action on the mat, on the stage or simply people watch. I have also been introduced to some interesting people by Manager Phil who really takes care of the clientele. I want to add that this is far from the only place that has an 'inclusive' attitude that hands you a package deal but it is one of the best. Well done for continuing to put photos here and reminding us of some of the fun times that we have in Baby Dolls and why this has become one of the most visited and entertaining places in Pattaya. -
Back to the original question. Like most people I like a dose of junk food now and then. I usually do not eat KFC but on an annual basis I get a voucher from them for a free feed as I am a shareholder. Last week I used mine and it was truly horrible. It was full of fat and left a puddle of the shit after I had tried to eat it. I checked with someone else who has cooking training and we believe that perhaps the issue is that it is just not cooked properly and that perhaps the oil is not hot enough hence not being sealed. Unless its free I wont be trying it any time soon.

Looks like a good room. Fort me the deal breaker is getting back at night. As you point out its easy enough to get out of the place but getting back at 4 or 5 in the morning could be hairy. I agree that the place seems great value for money but getting a cab back or MBT would just not suit me.

As I pointed out in a recent TR I stopped in here last month and had a beer with a mate. I thought that I would have a club sandwich as I had not eaten that day. The meal was so big that I could not finish it. It was a dearer version at I think 149 baht but was the only meal that defeated me in Pattaya! This guy has stayed there for a month a time at least twice to my knowledge so it seems that some see it as value for money.

My guess would be that Dontcha is admittedly from Ireland where the emails originated? Can you give me a Whoosh too please because I have no fucking idea why you would say "More likely dontcha."

opening a bank account in Pattaya?
teelack replied to loveless's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
The following took me a bit time to sort out as the people in the bank were not sure how it works. I opened an account at Kasikorn last year and decided to transfer money from my home account rather than carry the cash around. I was interested in getting this to work as I want at times to visit other parts of Asia without carrying cash around and sending to my account seems the best and most secure way. I will not go through the domestic procedure (although it was interesting) only the Thai side. I was surprised that an amount of 290 baht was deducted from my account to pay for the transfer and here is the breakdown. Inward Commission 200 baht (This is the minimum amount it is based on 0.25% with a max of 300 baht) Domestic fee transfer. 70 baht Lease line charges. 20 baht. So there you have it. On top of any domestic charges (and mine were reasonable) and the fact that I had to transfer baht based on what I could buy it for at home, there are costs to doing this. I am not complaining as it was prompt and secure and will be good in certain circumstances however the bottom line is that it is most cost effective to bring your home currency and change it at the best rate you can and then deposit it in the bank and use your ATM card at the nominated bank and have your cash paid free of commission or charges -
Had a friend get one of these recently. Being a bit naïve he took the details to his lawyer and paid the consultation fee! Same result as just dumping it immediately.

Excellent. Its a bargain compared with what has been charged in the past.

Thanks. Was it worth the trip there?

Singapore vs Kuala Lumpur for birthday trip for my gf
teelack replied to mataleo's topic in Idle Chit Chat
I cannot answer your visa questions but for me I would look at the following. Book to go to either place via Air Asia from Bangkok. Get the bus from one to the other. In this way you get to visit both places and also have a 5 hour bus tour of both countries. Three nights in each place will do it and then fly back to Bangkok. I have done this and whilst I enjoyed both places the accommodation cost of Singapore was well ahead of KL. -
Nice one and a reminder to me that I need a few days in Bangkok sometime this year.
-
I too would be interested in finding out more. I actually took photos of the entrance as a reminder to call in and have a look and never did.

Accommodation for 6 guys

If you want an almost iron clad guarantee of all being on the same property simply contact the Sabai Group as they have hundreds of rooms in the same street. -

Coming from someone who has an opinion on everything and everyone even when you know nothing this is a bit rich!
