Another Beach Road Story
BigDUSA replied to InternationalTraveler's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
With all the poor quality sidewalks in Pattaya. I'd recommend getting a tetanus shot. -
Why get a taxi for 2500 when Mr T will meet you for way less money?

Brits Retiring to Pattaya Video

Good question, I don't know the answer. I do know my current health care insurance does cover me in a foreign country. I pay the bill and my insurance company will reimperse me. -
Brits Retiring to Pattaya Video

Biggest problem I see for Americans. Health insurance for when you get older. Medicare doesn't cover you in foreign countries. -
My scooter and myself go through security. Here in the US, security wipes my scooter down checking for explosive residual. As far as where I check the scooter in. I follow what the airline tells me.

My scooter breaks down with out tools into three easily manageable parts. Takes less then 30 seconds to breakdown or reassemble. I've used wheelchair service and it works reasonably well. I plan on having a mini van meet me at the airport.

Amazon.com has what your looking for.

What ever you want is available in Pattaya. Talk to the girl and tell her or the mamasan what your looking for. Soi 6 bars are a good place to start. I like the Halifax bar I & II on soi 6. Same goes for the Queen Victoria pub. Good food at the Vic.

Where can I find a good English (Irish or Scottish) breakfast
BigDUSA replied to goldeni's topic in Restaurants and food
Tropical Bert's on soi 6-1. Good food. -
Baht continues to fall.

There are hundreds of beer bars. Many have football on all the time. Best advice I can offer just go for a walk on soi 6, 7, 8 , 2, 3, 4 and take your pick. I'm sure other board members will make there own recommendations and you should try them all. Enjoy your stay!!

I upgraded to I.E. 11 and have the same problem. -
I've always been a big fan and have had many meals at PattayaPete's, Pattaya Beer Garden. The last time I ate there Pete offered an extensive menu and the meal I had was superb. The Thai girl I was with thoroughly enjoyed the Thai food she ate. Prices are reasonable but sometimes because the restaurant is so crowed with customer's. One can have a bit of a wait. He has on offer draft Heineken that makes the wait somewhat enjoyable.

Christmas Donation Visits
BigDUSA replied to Evil Penevil's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Same goes for me. Shot me a PM on how I can send my donation. -
Back home, I use my ATM card for almost everything. I find it easier then using cash. I have a separate travel ATM without a Mastercard side. When I travel I only use it to withdraw cash from a ATM attached to a bank. One time the machine ate my card. I went inside the bank and I had my card back in less then five minutes. I always call my credit card companies and let them know I'll be traveling to Thailand. I put a 500USD limit on any purchase. I used my AMEX card at the King Power Duty Free for $100. with no problem. When I get back home AMEX calls and wants to know if I purchased $15,000 worth of jewelry in BKK. I said no and why did you approve the sale. They admitted they made a mistake and didn't read my purchase limit. I wasn't held to be responsible.

United BKK-NRT possibly being eliminated 3/30/2014
BigDUSA replied to MM's topic in Airline Discussion
I remember a few years ago UAL went from a 747 to a 777. They soon went back to a 747. UAL has the cheapest flights from Philly to BKK. I'm hoping I don't have to change airlines.
