  1. I LOL every year when the airlines tell me they are improving the program and the bastard's add more requirements. I used to fly United almost excursively. Those days are over.
  2. With all the poor quality sidewalks in Pattaya. I'd recommend getting a tetanus shot.
  3. Why get a taxi for 2500 when Mr T will meet you for way less money?
  4. Good question, I don't know the answer. I do know my current health care insurance does cover me in a foreign country. I pay the bill and my insurance company will reimperse me.
  5. Biggest problem I see for Americans. Health insurance for when you get older. Medicare doesn't cover you in foreign countries.
  6. My scooter and myself go through security. Here in the US, security wipes my scooter down checking for explosive residual. As far as where I check the scooter in. I follow what the airline tells me.
  7. My scooter breaks down with out tools into three easily manageable parts. Takes less then 30 seconds to breakdown or reassemble. I've used wheelchair service and it works reasonably well. I plan on having a mini van meet me at the airport.
  8. Amazon.com has what your looking for.
  9. What ever you want is available in Pattaya. Talk to the girl and tell her or the mamasan what your looking for. Soi 6 bars are a good place to start. I like the Halifax bar I & II on soi 6. Same goes for the Queen Victoria pub. Good food at the Vic.
  10. Tropical Bert's on soi 6-1. Good food.
  11. Baht continues to fall.
  12. There are hundreds of beer bars. Many have football on all the time. Best advice I can offer just go for a walk on soi 6, 7, 8 , 2, 3, 4 and take your pick. I'm sure other board members will make there own recommendations and you should try them all. Enjoy your stay!!
  13. I know that In and Out burger chain serves non frozen fries. Excellent burgers and fries. 5 Guys burgers is another chain that serves excellent fries and burgers and they have big bags of unpeeled potatoes on display in there stores.
  14. Nice size piece of fish.
  15. I switched to Chrome and the problem went away.
  16. I upgraded to I.E. 11 and have the same problem.
  17. I've always been a big fan and have had many meals at PattayaPete's, Pattaya Beer Garden. The last time I ate there Pete offered an extensive menu and the meal I had was superb. The Thai girl I was with thoroughly enjoyed the Thai food she ate. Prices are reasonable but sometimes because the restaurant is so crowed with customer's. One can have a bit of a wait. He has on offer draft Heineken that makes the wait somewhat enjoyable.
  18. Without the Chinese and Russian tourists. Pattaya would soon turn into a ghost town.
  19. Tune hotel may be what your looking for. Inexpensive newish hotel with minimal amenities. I've never stayed there.
  20. BKK airport was closed before we left. Thai was unhelpful in rerouting other passengers with connecting flights through BKK. I'm not sure of this but I think Thai cancelled all future flights out of LAX till the airport reopened.
  21. When the airport was closed a few years ago. I was on the last Thai flight out of LAX. The pilot landed in U-Tapao. Only hassle was waiting for immigration people to arrive from BKK. I think we waited 60 0r 90 minutes.
  22. Same goes for me. Shot me a PM on how I can send my donation.
  23. Back home, I use my ATM card for almost everything. I find it easier then using cash. I have a separate travel ATM without a Mastercard side. When I travel I only use it to withdraw cash from a ATM attached to a bank. One time the machine ate my card. I went inside the bank and I had my card back in less then five minutes. I always call my credit card companies and let them know I'll be traveling to Thailand. I put a 500USD limit on any purchase. I used my AMEX card at the King Power Duty Free for $100. with no problem. When I get back home AMEX calls and wants to know if I purchased $15,000 worth of jewelry in BKK. I said no and why did you approve the sale. They admitted they made a mistake and didn't read my purchase limit. I wasn't held to be responsible.
  24. I arrive in BKK,2-17 and have no plans to cancel. I was on the last flight to BKK from LAX last time they closed the airport. We landed at the old US B-52 base south of Pattaya. We had to wait about an hour or so for the guys from immigration and customs to show up from BKK.
  25. I remember a few years ago UAL went from a 747 to a 777. They soon went back to a 747. UAL has the cheapest flights from Philly to BKK. I'm hoping I don't have to change airlines.
