  1. Better than yesterday. I saw 40.10 in the TT near Bodega bar yesterday.
  2. The guy who did my letter at Kasikorn told me that immigration were only accepting letters from 1 day before. No problem for me as I always get the letter the day before, but it's good to know that they are being as consistent as ever.
  3. Thanks Atlas. Following your observations about how quiet immigration was on Christmas Day I decided to do my retirememt extension today, rather than waiting until the New Year. I arrived just before 11am and was finished after about 10 minutes. Picking up the passport tomorrow afternoon.
  4. Probably Kursk, the largest tank battle ever fought.
  5. Got to agree with that. My balcony is navel height and I am no short arse. I'd have to be very unlucky to trip over the balcony. Given the combination of tiled floors, water and alcohol consumption I am surprised there aren't more incidences of people falling in bathrooms and smacking their heads on sinks, toilets, basins etc.
  6. Pretty sure they were still working on it when I walked past the other day. There was still some boarding up but couldn't tell how close they are to completion.
  7. Handy for TQ and the afternoon GGBs on 13/1 and 13/2. Maybe an acquired taste and very hit and miss but another option to take a look at.
  8. Bars on second road like Bodega and the Wonderful bars. Maybe take a stroll down 13/1 and 13/2, smaller bars but can be fun
  9. Probably not as many ladies around in the Buakhau beer bars in the afternoon compared to Nana.It depends what you want.Soi 6 might provide the nearrst equivalent. Plenty of places to sit outside watching the world go by but with the option of decent looking female company as well. I think Pattaya has far more daytime options than Bangkok, some livelier than others.
  10. This is the final post for today and covers the stretch up to Rabbit Resort. In some parts they have done virtually nothing although they have dismantled the toilets on the beach. Getting towards Rabbit Resort they are at least working on the drainage. I wouldn't recommend booking a room at Rabbit Resort in the early part of high season. I doubt it will be very pleasant sipping a cool beer overlooking a construction site.
  11. In front of Pattaya Park they have completed the road and drainage along about half of its length. There's still a lot of work to do in front of the rest of Pattaya Park although they have dug up the original path but haven't made much progress with the drainage. Further along they have made more progress with the drainage. I also noted that they have not destroyed the mature trees on the beach this time. They are using some of the vacant land between Pattaya Park and Rabbit Resort to store materials.
  12. The work started near the Sea Rescue Centre by Pattaya Park. The border line of the end of Phase 2 and Phase 3 which will go around the bend in the path towards the bottom of Pratumnak Soi 5. The work in front of the Sea Rescue Centre is pretty much completed.
  13. I think Bazle started a topic on phase 1 of this project but I could not find it so will open a new topic. Phase 1 of the project from Jomtien to about 100 metres south of Rabbit Resort was completed at the beginning of December last year. Work on phase 2 commenced during June and runs from the end of Phase1 to the Sea Rescue centrenear Pattaya Park. I haven't been down that way for a while so a walk last week provided a good opportunity to take some pics of the progress that has been made so far. Fot my own convenience I will divide this report into 4 separate posts. To star
  14. Thinking about the question again; for the late games, Richman Poorman on soi 9 Jomtien Beach Road could be an option.
  15. Frasers and Hemingways are probably the most likely venues in Jomtien but I doubt they will be open late enough to see the full game. As Phil suggests your best bet will be to go into Pattaya.
  16. I have not seen any enforcement of the no standing on back of baht buses rule. I have seen plenty of people standing on the back of baht buses and no action taken by the BiB when they go past checkpoints. The DL licence fines could have a big impact for some, the fines will apply to Thais as well but I don't think the new rules have come into force yet. (I don't drive so have not paid too much attention to these changes).
  17. Prepare to be swamped with old copies of 'Metro'.?
  18. The Premier League probably makes more money than the other major European leagues but Real Madrid and Barcelona are arguably the two highest profile clubs on the continent. The main leagues in Europe are in England, Spain, Germany, Italy and France. Hard to rank them accurately although France is probably the weakest, least competitive of the five.
  19. Maybe you could review the Golf Club bbq nights in your steak thread. It's a while since I have eaten the steak there but seem to remember they used crossbred beef and a 400gm steak was around 400-500 baht.
  20. Walking past My Way the other day I noticed on sign on the door saying, 'closed due to circumstances'. Is this a short term or a long term closure?
  21. Mr T. He has an office just off Soi Dianna.
  22. While Ashley's there they're about as relevant as your native Darlington. I doubt Rafa will be there at the end of the season and can see them flirting with the bottom three.
  23. I took a stroll up Walking Street during the day time a couple of months ago and was surprised to see some high end places aimed at Indians at the southern end of the street. I have read reports that these places do decent business. There is also a large Indian dance club near Alcazar. It's been there a while so I assume it does OK. I guess these places appeal to the wealthier Indians who like to drink bottles of JW Black and flash the cash. Alternatively the Bangladeshi / Indian owned GGB on Pattayaland 2 didn't last long.
  24. As a two week holiday maker I didn't spend much time in that area. By the time I started staying around the Buakhau / Dianna area on longer trips Shenanigans had moved to The Avenue. I did enjoy the carvery there as an occasional treat, I especially enjoyed the prawns on the salad bar. Unfortunately it did go downhill a bit during the year or so before Shenanigans closed.
