  1. According to the Facebook page their delivery drivers are sick. Last update was on 7 August. They've always had a reputation for being unreliable as far as keeping to regular opening times is concerned.
  2. Good point. Breakfast at the Lek was a once in a lifetime experience!!! I also stayed at the Nana Hotel on my first trip to Bangkok. Another rite of passage for newbies at the time.?
  3. Done.
  4. I only ate the Lek breakfast once during one of my early trips around 2005/6 when I was staying at the Dynasty. I can't remember the exact price but thought it was more than 100 baht, maybe 120-150 baht. IIRC at the time they had a voucher scheme where you could prepay for 10 breakfasts and get a discount. Talk about masochism.?
  5. Haha. Just completed the submission and thought it was very smooth. Sounds like the rest of the process might not be so efficient. Thanks for the heads up.
  6. I noticed that too but, maybe, the OP thought City Garden was so close to 2nd road it fell within his criteria.
  7. I looked at the rates at a TG booth today and they were showing 43.45 for GBP compared to 43.75 -43.8 at TT. So their rates are poor and if you opt to use a credit card you will be charged a minimum of 300 baht plus whatever extras your card provider levies.
  8. It's easy enough to do it online without paying an agent. From what you have said you have around six months to book flights and hotels. Most hotels can organise a taxi to pick you up from the airport which is only a few 's kms outside Siem Reap. From what you have said on here, I would avoid the land route as you might be too knackered from the journey to enjoy Angkor Wat, there is a lot of walking around in the heat quite often on uneven surfaces. You can get an e-visa for Cambodia before you go and staple it into your passport. This avoids the queue at the airport but the process there is fairly straightforward anyway.
  9. Bars in Jomtien open. Kinnaree open. Not heard of any closures on social media so far.
  10. I'm fairly sure that TT is cash only. No harm in asking about a cash advance but don't rely on it.
  11. I've never noticed a Premier Inn on Soi Dianna. Googling 'Premier Inn Pattaya' brings up a number of results on the various booking sites but clicking on the links takes you to the Travellodge on Soi 15.
  12. I always assumed that the hotel was next to the bar complex, possibly down a side alley, but I have never bothered to confirm that.
  13. I'm not surprised you are unsure about the location of the R Con Blue complex. It was never easy to find, initially being hidden between Rehab GGB and a Tesco, with the access through a passageway between the two. Even after Rehab shut and it was replaced at the front by the Lucky Star open beer bar I reckon most passers by would be unaware of the existence of the bar complex. I visited the complex a few times after it first opened and liked the layout of the bars but they seemed to be lacking in both girls and customers so it never became a go to venue. I went into the Lucky Star bar about 12-18 months ago during their happy hour. Whilst there I had a look at the complex, which appeared to be abandoned apart from one bar. The last time I took any notice of the complex the Lucky Star bar was also closed. I guess there was too much existing competition in the area and the R Con bars didn't offer enough to drag customers away from their regular watering holes.
  14. I recall reading that it can cope with 2m swells which was why some of the early trial voyages at the start of the year were cancelled. It will be interesting to see how reliable the service is during the rainy season.
  15. Kinnaree is open but some of the GCs might take action to stay on the right side of the authorities. For instance I have just seen on Facebook that Passion have postponed their Jelly Wrestling contest due to 'unforseen circumstances'.
  16. QV still serving, not sure about the status of Lord Nelson, (thought it was closed), but I don't think those bars are the reason most people visit Soi 6!!!
  17. That happened just after the coup in 2014. The four GGBs that had been opening in the afternoon were told they could not open until 6pm. That ruling still stands for the GGBs but the various other guesthouses and beer bars are still open. EDIT. Re MM's query about girls, ST and soft drinks being enough. I walked down Soi 6 around 4 - 4.30 the other afternoon. There were a few bars with girls but nothing going on and only a couple seemed to have customers and most didn't seem to be selling even soft drinks. From my perspective I might take another look down there in a couple of weeks but I won't be rushing back.
  18. Agreed. I've just heard, (from the manager), that a large beer bar on Thappraya Road going down to Jomtien Beach has got a 30 day closure order for being open a few minutes after their licenced hours. The evidence came from the computerised billing system.
  19. That was around July last year. After about a couple of weeks they were opening early afternoon but no dancing. Shortly after that they were back to operating as normal.
  20. My favourite place for thin crust pizza in the 250-300 baht range. Decent toppings unlike some other places which can be quite stingy. I like their buffalo wings as well. I also agree with MM re New York Pizza House. The online ordering and delivery system is very efficient and the toppings are good quality and generous. This comes at a price though as my typical order works out around 500 baht but worth every satang IMHO. I think the place on Klang that Butch referred to is Fire and Stone,(between Second and Beach Road). I have not had a pizza from there but it was getting good reviews when it first opened. I haven't seen any feedback for a while though.
  21. I've never eaten at Little India but walked past many times. They seem to have some well priced specials but main menu items are inline with other mid-range priced Indians; chicken jalfrezi is about 240 baht IIRC.
  22. I ate in Naandos the other night. They have basically just taken the Country Favourites menu and increased the prices of most dishes by just over 10%; my chicken Jalfrezi was 220 baht compared to 195 at CF; chicken tikka has increased by over 20% from 210 to 260 baht. Taken on top of price increases of around 15-20% when CF relaunched its menu last year means Naandos cannot be considered as cheap. On the other hand they now do free delivery in Central Pattaya and charge 50 baht elsewhere, (I used to pay 100 baht for delivery to Pratumnak). The portion size was comparable to CF which I considered generous compared to other places like Little India in Jomtien which charges a similar price. The quality of the Jalfrezi was again comparable to CF although maybe not as rich. The garlic naan bread was OK but I did wonder if it had been reheated rather than freshly cooked. The impression I got with the restaurant is that they don't really know what to with it. The place was empty when I got there and lacked any ambience. The walls at the front of the shop are bare apart from a few screens although there is a Retox sign and a few sports pictures towards the back. The furniture is also a bit of a mish mash, with barrels and barstools at the front and cheap but comfortable restaurant furniture further back. The Thai service girl was pleasant enough but I got the impression she didn't understand the menu as she took my order by number. Overall I felt I was ordering Indian food in a pub, (albeit with a much wider selection of dishes), rather than a more authentic Indian restaurant. I'll try a delivery at some stage but I don't think Naandos is going to be my go-to Indian restaurant to the same extent that CF was.
  23. Isn't there already a law that they can't be rented out for less tha a month anyway? I seem to recall that there was some attempt to enforce the legislation last year but as with similar initiatives it didn't last long.
  24. Metro probably the perfect fit. Nickys fits the bill as well and has a pool table. Retox Game On and Robin Hood only a short walk away.
  25. Retox Extra seems to be being used as an overspill for the nearby Retox. They announced on FB that it was opening but there wasn't really any big promotion.
