With a good location like it has,and still not getting a reasonable press then one must wonder why? No smoke without fire! Onething I've read is the rooms leave something to be desired,in particular the bathroom/toilet size.

I made some enquiries thru another forum when this place's name came up about 6 weeks ago.Found it to be poorly located and for the low season of July/Aug way over the top!

Why pay "Regular bar prices",simply tell them to empty it immediately upon arrival and stock up from 7/11,easy!

In the "Low" season there are plenty of places where you can book on the net without Pre-paying anything!

I have noticed in the last few weeks especially a LOT of adverse criticism of the Areca.First time ever to hear these types of comments ie front desk Manager "NANCY" is getting really rude and insulting more and more each day.Rooms are getting very tired looking and most recent the vast increase of family groups with kids running around. I myself have never considered it for a long term stay (To expensive) after all you only sleep there,far better to rent a large guesthouse room,buy outside breakfast,and pay a cheap price should you want to swim! This year Thai's "Amazing Thailands" deals from here in N.Z. for some reason are the biggest rip-offs I have seen them attempt.They advertised quite cheap fares but failed to post that there were no return seats available,so in fact they were a one way deal! As a Frequent flyer I sent personal E-mails to management both in Thailand and N.Z. querying this however the ignorant twats never even had the decency to reply. Found a good fare however $200 cheaper than Thai with BA&QF!,which is even cheaper than my fare 18 months ago!

Hi Mark,I have read your other thread with interest ,on this dodgy experience of yours,and sympathise with you as it can be an upsetting welcome to the LOScams! I have used Toom many times and never had a problem with his service whatsoever! I urge you to rephrase your thread as the "Bad service" in effect was in no way the fault of Toom,this could have happened with ANY of the so called "Taxi" services,and to blame Toom is grossly unfair.The blame lies at the feet of the Thai authorities for allowing the mafia taxi scum to operate these scams unchecked.

Hi guys Thanks for all your help and advice,have just spent 2 hours on mainly Zuji and the best deal I can get for a 6th july Dep. and 4th Aug Ret. with available seats is the $1103 fare.Taxes come in at $202 making $1305 all up.This is dearer again than last trip Oct where I paid $1248 (Due to late booking) Not sure of ticket class (Forgot to look) however after viewing prices for other carriers this is still the cheapest option at the moment.
