As a Gold card holder on Eva and Emirates I was somewhat miffed at having to use Etihad last week due to an emergency which required my immediate attention and not being able to get on Eva/Emirates at a couple hours notice. However Etihad exceeded all expectations. Seat size was fine (and Im tall) food excellent with "signature dishes",quality video on demand system (comparable with Emirates or better) short connection times in Abu Dhabi and best off all a superb smiling attitude from the cabin crew. Get themselves a frequent flyer club and they'll take a lot of business. Excellen

If you're going to use indirect flights and on the basis that you got a sleeper home before (so guess you live further north) when you flew Eva, then why not pay a little more and use Emirates out of Birmingham or Manchester, who have the best frequent flyer package of them all ? Do Etihad even have a frequent flyer club ?? Remember once you have Gold status on Emirates for every 4 return flights you get a freebie.

Disappointing without doubt re new elite and economy seats on the 777. Biggest gripe for me is that on recline the "arse" section of the seat eases forward walloping your knees against the seat in front if youre reasonable tall. Seats are same pitch as before (and are wider in economy) they just dont feel it !!

Always worth upgrading to Elite (Evergreen Deluxe as was) with seats an extra 5" pitch. Be aware that if travelling on the 777 in economy, that three of the four aisle seats now have rather large electronic boxes under the seat in front severly restricting leg room. Chivas

Hospital where the birth occured will provide "Certificate of birth" and then this with mothers ID, Family papers etc take to city hall who will issue "birth certificate" for the child.

Hop in a Taxi to Morchit or Ekamai for 200 baht or so and another 100 baht from the bus station and you'll be there before you know it.

Yes The Queen Pattaya can be had for 550 must of the year around and walk ins are no problem. Avoid if you're a sun lover, as the pool is in the shade apart from very early in the morning. Chivas

I checked in very late for a flight back to Heathrow (after a road traffic accident) and asked at check in for an aisle seat but was politely informed there were none left (fair enough) Being travel wise when I got to final gate asked the girl to check my ticket as I had asked for an aisle seat but "apparently" had been given seat in the middle (acting a little naive) Could see she was checking the computer to switch the seat but as at check in nothing available but she wasn't going to lose face and tell me. Finally came over to me and gave me a boarding card for business instead !

Not sure how others feel but being self employed I would find it very hard NOT to be doing something in retirement (health allowing) to supplement the income even if only 10000 baht a month,which for this chap would probably solve the problem. You cant come to live in LOS if £5 of bank charges ensures the shight hits the fan. What happens if you have serious medical issues ?

Ben, I've used internet banking in Pattaya since 1998 using internet cafes and for the last year my laptop without any problems. The only safeguard I use is that the ATM account is kept low until I need to transfer cash into it (day before) Dont forget you need to be seriously negligent NOT to receive recompense from your bank if monies were to disappear. Certainly key logging doesnt mean YOU are negligent. Chivas

Meat, Wouldnt worry too much.If no aisle or window seats available then you will be in the centre section of a 747-400 series but these seats are big (compared to economy/coach) Ring the airline direct explaining that you "need" an aisle seat for personal reasons and thats why you have purchased an evergreen deluxe/elite seat. They will allocate you a seat rest assured. If on the remote chance they dont, explain politely but firmly that you CANNOT travel on "inside seating" at check in and stand your ground. They will move somebody or better still upgrade you. Chivas
