Brand new studio for rent in the heart of Pattaya

Apparently the German guy did attract the attention of the Thai authorities : Mentally Unstable German Found Walking Naked in Pattaya But reports on other boards say he is now back again at his old haunts around Soi Bukhao - Soi Diana. I had a conversation with the poor guy the Monday after the flooding. I saw him sitting near the corner of Soi Diana and Second Road, close to Kiss restaurant. He looked terrible - filthy, in rags and clearly malnourished, perhaps even starving. You can see it in the pictures. No body fat and very little muscle on his arms or legs, His body is eating itself. The foot without the sandal was inflamed and swollen. Not knowing what to say, I just asked him in English, "You OK, man?" He nodded yes with a very unconcerned facial expression, then asked me if I knew of a hotel with a dinner buffet. That took me aback, but I answered without letting my jaw drop. I said I didn't, but I'd be happy to get him some take-away food at Kiss. He declined and said he wanted a buffet! He wasn't begging, but he sure was choosy. I offered him 100 baht to get food later, but he said he didn't need it. He then started chatting to me about the flooding. He spoke grammatically correct English and his accent wasn't that heavy. To speak English at that level, he must have had education and experience in the past. I told him about how I waded through thigh-deep water to get back to my apartment the night of the floods. He seemed to enjoy the conversation and was very lucid. It could have been a casual conversation in a bar or on a baht bus. He said he liked my shirt - I tend to wear loud print shirts - and I offered to get him one just like it. Again, he refused. I offered food and money one more time, but he repeated he didn't need it. Like many other mentally troubled people, he obviously has stretches of relative calmness. But his inability to see the terrible shape he's in is an indication of the seriousness of his delusion. Other reports say he is combative and even violent on occasion. That's a behavior pattern that is recognizable from the U.S. Homeless guys could be friendly, even helpful one minute, then attack strangers the next. I felt very frustrated I couldn't do more for the guy. But if he can't see that he needs help, there's not much that can be done. I was reminded of Reinhold Niebuhr's famous Serenity Prayer: God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, Courage to change the things I can, And wisdom to know the difference. In some way, the authorities have to intervene because he is a danger to himself and others. If they don't, he'll be dead in the not-too-distant future. I just hope his inner demons don't lead him to hurt anyone else. Evil

New "gentlemens club" opening soon.
Evil Penevil replied to farangkwaiyai's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
I doubt visitors to the new club will be expecting a traditional West-End-style gentlemen's club. Potential customers won't be much interested in over-stuffed armchairs or newspapers. English is a very flexible language and for many years in parts of the U.S., "gentlemen's club" has been a euphemism for brothels and strip clubs. Evil -
Maybe I'm becoming a feminist
Evil Penevil replied to Bazle's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Good point. I'm not a fan of throwing ping pong balls because I think it is demeaning for the thrower, not the girls who chase the balls. But it's all pretty harmless and there's no question that nearly all the girls think it's fun. I don't believe it has any effect on either S/T or L/T prices since the scale of compensation is so vastly different. I can't see myself tossing ping pong balls or handfuls of notes to the girls, but that's a matter of personal style and preference. But if any customer, farang or Asian, thinks it's fun and the girls enjoy it, who really loses? Evil -
I never claimed it is any sort of either/or situation between ""white people" or Indians/Chinese, nor do I believe it. Russians are predominately Caucasian (more than 80% of the population) and they are certainly being targeted by TAT. Moreover, from the context of this thread, it's clear we're talking about Pattaya as a destination and from the perspective of growth in tourist visits by families and other "non-sex tourists," there is a far bigger potential for filling hotel rooms with guests from Russia, China and India than North America, West Europe and Australia. The authorities in Thailand are counting on the rise of the middle class in Russia, China and India. Millions upon millions of people in those countries have never been outside their hometowns, much less abroad, so there is a huge pent-up demand for travel. And if they come from god-awful industrial cities in Siberia or inland China - or anywhere in India - then Pattaya, with all its warts, seems like a tropical paradise because they have nothing better with which to compare it. No one is suggesting TAT is making a play for families from Europe, Australia and North America. It's clear families from those regions have more attractive options for beach vacations. Not so with tourists (family or not) from China, India and Russia. Maybe they'd rather go elsewhere, but they have a very limited range of choices because of visa requirements and, in many cases, thin wallets. Group tours from China, Russia and India are heavily subsidized by the participants' employers or organizations to which they belong. Most of them couldn't afford an individualized trip to Thailand or anywhere else aboard. Given a choice between visiting Pattaya or staying at home, huge numbers of them are happy over a trip to Pattaya. The continued prosperity of the Thai middle class is also an important factor in Pattaya's future. The Mayor of Pattaya recently said about 5 million foreigners and 2 million Thais visit Pattaya each year. He wants to increase that figure over the next decade to 10 million foreigners and 4.2 million Thais. Considering the rate at which tourists visits from Russia, India and China have grown in recent years, it's not an unreasonable goal. And where do farang mongers, whether Cheap Charlies or two-week millionaires, fit into the picture? At the fringes. They are, of course, the customer base for bars, guest houses and other establishments that cater to sex tourists, but they don't have much impact on the economy of Pattaya as a whole. It's a niche market that is extremely over-saturated. There are way too many bars and other places that are fighting over a dwindling number of farang punters. A shake-out had to come sometime and it will cause personal tragedies for some business owners, but it won't slow the development of tourism in Pattaya. I imagine I'll be making my excuses to St. Peter long before farang-oriented P4P dries up entirely in Pattaya, but the trend is inescapable - sex tourism is on the way out for very valid reasons. I didn't get any sense that jaxxon55 was portraying himself as a high-roller. He was explaining why the future of tourism in Pattaya doesn't depend on whether low-spending farang sex tourists continue to visit the city. Contrary to what's sometimes written on the Pattaya boards, it's not the guys who stay in 500-baht rooms, pay 40 baht for a bottle of beer and give the girls as little compensation as possible that make or break Pattaya. Jaxxon55 was drawing attention to that point. Evil

This general subject has been up for discussion dozens of times on various boards. You have to keep in mind the difference between registered and unregistered overnight guests. Simply booking a double room in no way gives you the right to bring back a series of unregistered overnight guests. It depends on each hotel's policies and in some cases, how strictly they are enforced. Charging a "joiner fee" discourages registered guests from bringing back an unregistered overnight guest. It's a business policy, not a scam, much less a crime against humanity. The most effective way of showing your disapproval is not to stay in any hotel that has a joiner fee. For every hotel in LOS that charges for unregistered overnight guests, there are many more that don't. If your company is paying for the room in a non-guest-friendly hotel or you're getting it for rewards points or similar, either pay the joiner fee or do as lovedog suggests in his post above. Evil

Bird ( The Guy with the tattoed face)
Evil Penevil replied to nus01's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
"The time has come," the Walrus said, "To talk of many things: Of shoes--and ships--and sealing-wax-- Of cabbages--and kings-- And why the sea is boiling hot-- And whether pigs have wings." I hope he finds the peace in his next life that escaped him in this one. -
If this guy doesn't want help, there's very little a private individual can do for him. On this and other boards, several posters have said he has refused offers of food and clothing. But that doesn't mean he's happy. Many homeless guys refuse all help as they struggle with their inner demons. In NYC, there was a homeless man who almost starved to death, even though he was often offered or given food. In his mind, the food was poisoned - that's why he refused it. At some point, hard-core guys like the farang tramp become a danger to themselves or others. They may not act violently (although that does happen), but they often carry body lice or have scabies. Some suffer from respiratory infections that are very contagious. If they can't see this themselves, then some sort of authority has to step in. But in Pattaya, that won't happen until the situation gets so bad it can no longer be ignored. Evil

I haven't stayed at the Hilton in Pattaya so I can't speak from personal experience. However, a friend of mine did and he said he had no problems whatsoever with bringing girls back. I doubt very much they would object to bringing back a guest for a short-time before midnight. It's unregistered overnight guests that prompt a reaction in guest-unfriendly hotels. Of course, there can on occasion be "selective" policies. If the tenant and his girl are discrete, no problem. But if she screams "hooker" because of her dress or manner, the hotel might object. I don't know if that is the case at the Hilton, but it is a possibility. Evil :

It's been reported on several boards that Dale has thrown in the towel. Some of those contributing to those threads knew Dale or had checked out the restaurant to see if it was closed, so the reports appear to be true. Evil

Hotel with elevator and hot tub
Evil Penevil replied to BigDUSA's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
If you are just looking for a hotel with elevator and whose rooms have bath tubs, you have a very wide range of hotels in the area you specified. Some idea of the cost/night you had in mind would help to narrow the suggestions. Far, far fewer hotels have in-room jacuzzis. The LK Royal Suite Hotel near the corner of Pattaya Klang and Soi Bukhao has great one-bedroom apartments (full kitchen) with in-room jacuzzis. Cost is about USD85/night (including all taxes) through Agoda. Baht buses run in both directions right outside the hotel Evil -
using other hotel pools
Evil Penevil replied to hillbilly's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
My ex-TGF's daughter loved swimming and playing in the water, but I preferred to stay in a serviced apartment building that didn't have a pool. No problem - just about every hotel with a pool will allow non-guests to use it against payment of a small fee. But my ex and her daughter liked the pool atop Mile's Mall the best. Here's a link to a pic from a recent post on PT. Evil -

There's been some discussion (and pics) of this man on Stickman's site and a few Pattaya boards. He's is said to be a German who used to work for a German company in Bangkok. He obviously has severe mental problems, but he doesn't appear to beg or drink alcohol. Supposedly he also declines all offers of help. I can't remember ever seeing a homeless person in the U.S. or Europe who looked as rough as this poor guy. Probably the only chance he has for turning his life around would be if the German embassy got involved, assuming he is German. Somehow, someone in authority has to intervene and get him cleaned up to the point he can be sent back to his own country for treatment. Evil

Thai Cops to Crack Down on Foreign Gangs
Evil Penevil replied to Evil Penevil's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
This is a crackdown that means something: Nigerian Drug Dealer Falls to His Death While Fleeing from Police UPDATE : 20 April 2011 "A Nigerian drug dealer plunged five stories to his death while running from police during a sting operation in Klongton area. Police from the Patrol and Special Operations Division have arrested eight drug suspects of Nigerian, Ghanaian, and Zambian nationalities in a sting operation in the Klongton area. Police acted on a tip-off about a drug delivery in the area and set up a trap by agreeing to buy three packs of methamphetamine from a Nigerian gang member at an apartment on Pattanakarn Soi 40. A suspect fell five stories to his death from his balcony while trying to escape arrest.Officers expanded the investigation and arrested other gang members." Someone should nominate the Nigerian guy for a Darwin Award. Five stories up and he runs out on his balcony to get away from the police. Evil -
Human Trafficking in Pattaya
Evil Penevil replied to Evil Penevil's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Have they replenished the ranks already? That bar sported only one woman, the sad-looking one, through my final night in Pattaya. Evil -
Well done by the Thai authorities to crack down on human trafficking gangs that operate in Pattaya: Seven Uganda Women Arrested For Prostitution (from pattayadailynews.com) "Seven Uganda women were arrested for working illegally as prostitutes on Walking Street, although they were on tourist visa. "On 26 May 2011, Police Lieutenant Colonel, Greeta Tamkanarat (Deputy Superintendent), the leader of Children & Women Protection Centre and Human Trafficking Suppression team conducted a successful sting operation and arrested three Uganda women, allegedly accused of prostitution in Pattaya. "Three Uganda females, Edith Tasenga Mpomwiza, 22, Teddy Namwanga, 41 and Emilly Nalugo 29 were caught at Marine Hotel in South Pattaya. Upon interrogation, police discovered four more women involved in prostitution and immediately arrested them at a bar in Walking Street. "The Uganda women confess that they work as prostitutes in Pattaya while they are on tourist visa, an officer said. The police detained these suspects until they were sentenced." (End) But the Thai cops missed at least one. I took the photo below on Walking Street two days after the bust. She doesn't look very happy - maybe she's missing her sisters-in-vice. This is another recent incident that it illustrates the pattern: Uzbekistan Human Trafficking Victims Found It's sad, very sad. Evil

Young guys have fun in Pattaya
Evil Penevil replied to Gabor's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Those guys deserve a strong dose of rough Thai justice. I hope karma catches up with them and one of the more substanially sized bouncers on WS tosses them around in the same style. Absolutely unacceptable behavior, no defense is possible for attacking a girl in that manner. The guy should be facing assault charges and a few years in Thai prison. Evil
