I flew MAN to BKK on Etihad 777's earlier this year and on both sectors they were 3-4-3 config. The new deliveries have been built that way and the older ones have been retrofitted the higher density config.

Was Emirates until they changed the goalposts for the Frequent Flier Tiers, so have switched to Etihad... Sadly they in-flight experience for Etihad wasn't as good as Emirates the last time I flew.

It is you that keeps on arguing.... I made a comment that HDD prices would rise because of the flooding, and guess what... they have!!! In the UK prices have more than doubled, some have even tripled. Computer prices will go up because of the increase in cost of component parts. That is simple economics. OEMs won't subsidise the price of computers as most work on slim profit margins per unit as it is. The profit margin on some computers is less than the cost of what a HDD was prior to the flooding.

To start off the add looks good...... until he mentions "part owner".... So it is not for sale outright..... he is selling his "share".... Sounds just a little bit too dodgy....

Hmmmmmm..... definition of profiteering:- prof·it·eer n. One who makes excessive profits on goods in short supply. Perhaps you see it as my trying to change the English language. I don't, I was just using the term as it is intended to be used. Those goods could be rice, cars, HDDs, etcetera.....

The specifications of a base machine now and a base machine in a few months time will have changed, such is the ever-changing world of computers and components, but OEMs will not want to cut their profit margins to absorb the price increase of HDD's becuase of the global shortage. Like I said, you'd argue black is white!!!

And where did I say everything is profiteering? You'd argue black is white!!! If stock was bought at a certain price and, then all of a sudden, supply comes to a halt, putting up the retail price of your existing stock is profiteering..... OEM built computers will definitely rise in price as manufacturers pass on increased costs. Demand for SSD's will definitely increase as a result of the HDD shortage and as long as SSD manufacturers can supply the demand, then SSD prices should fall.

Just been checking Hard Drive prices as I am about build myself another system and the price of disks in the has more than doubled since last month with a lot showing out of stock...... Good job I bought a new HDD last month as the price of that one has tripled.... I'm lucky I don't need another for my build.. And you say it's not profiteering!!!

Where I live in the UK was hit by serious flooding 2 years ago causing massive damage to the transport infrastructure. 2 years down the line flood damage is still being repaired. It will take quite a while for Thailand to recover from the damage.

I've eaten from food carts, I've drunk filtered water from taps up in the village and the only time I have had a very dodgy stomach was after eating falang food from a restaurant. A shortage of bottled water wouldn't put me off going to Thailand.

Prices of computer components can be volatile depending on availabilty. A fair amount of the worlds HDD production comes from Seagate and Western Digital factories in Thailand. Papps - I have been to places where I have got in for free where Thais have had to pay and have also been to many places where falang pay the same price as Thai.
