  1. Planning a trip to New Zealand and Australia with my daughter this year. On the outbound leg we will get to travel on a A380 Dubai to Sydney/Auckland..... The trip will be Manchester to Auckland with a 10 day stopover in Sydney outbound ( so we can visit relatives in Australia), 10 days in Auckland to visit more relatives, and then fly back via Bangkok with a 10 day stopover in Thailand. And we can do it all on one ticket with Emirates. Now this is a trip I am really looking forward to!
  2. Scallywally's predictions are on a par with BigD's Last week watched Emirates A6-EDB taking off from Dubai, looked impressive
  3. English puss doesn't have any virtue......... so there would be nothing to debate!
  4. Damn..... your 2 days too late for me.... And we could have had such a wonderful conversation about Boeing V Airbus on our way down......
  5. And guess what? Delays have just announced with the 777F program as well... And Scally - you forgot to mention that from the same blog that the first of the second wave of A380 production has flown... At least Airbus are managing to deliver planes..... 737 deliveries have been halted because of Quality Control issues with the non-conforming nutplates. According to Boeing, 737s delivered to customers since August 2007 contained non-conforming nutplates. Boeing's delivery website says that 394 737s were delivered between August 2007 and October 2008. What's that??? 394 faulty
  6. OH DEAR!!!!!......More bad news from Boeing!!! And apparently one of 747-8i orders has been cancelled. One of the VIP customers for Boeing Business Jets has pulled out the the deal. Boeing are not having a very good time at the moment??? more 787 delays..... 737s delivered with faulty fasteners and now 747-8 delays
  7. In July a falang died in the room opposite mine, his body went undiscovered for 5 days. It gave my other half the creeps and we ended up moving apartment blocks.
  8. As more and more news comes out about the fastener problem it has been found on all the Nightmareliner airfames in Everett, so it is not an isolated incident. Apparently the holes where the fasteners are used have not been prepared properly. It has happened where the titanium parts have been drilled and but not deburred, and the fasteners aren't sitting in the holes properly. Deburring a hole is a basic engineering skill...... so why has it not been done? Are Boeing engineers and it's suppliers under such pressure to deliver the product to a totally unrealistic timescale that errors
  9. Oh dear - it's not just rumours anymore........ Boeing has admitted that 737s have recently been built and delivered with substandard "nutplates". Looks as though Boeing is having a lot of trouble with quality control during assembly. And it's not just 1 or 2 parts, it is a large numbers of installed fasteners and installed nutplates. These things should have been picked up during assembly not later on.
  10. Why has it gone quiet? Because the anti-Airbus three stooges haven't had anything to brag about how well Boeing is doing.
  11. Where's the 3 stooges..... they've gone awfully quiet..... Wonder if the following has anything to do with it? It really is turning into a Nightmareliner for Boeing... And add on to that there are rumours of poor quality control on fasteners used on other Boeing products....
  12. I always get to the airport in time for check-in opening, even though as a frequent flyer I get priority check in.... In these days of increased security at airports it makes sense...
  13. Oh dear....... looks like the strike is starting to hurt! And Boeing stock down 38% for the year..........
  14. One thing is for certain........ the 1000th post will happen before the Nightmareliner takes to the sky!
  15. The story of the Nightmareliner is becoming a nightmare!!!!!
  16. The nightmare continues Looks like the strike is having an effect...... And until the strike ends they won't really know how much of a delay has been caused.... August 2009 for the first delivery is a deadline that is looking harder and harder to meet each passing day. The first Nightmareliner one still hasn't flown yet.
  17. Quite simply........ We had an offer that was too good to turn down. And within a week we had found a suitable place in a much better location... as Adam says "Location, location, location....." And it's true what he says!
  18. Happy Burpday Adam.... have a good one!!!!!! And don't get too mau!!!!!!
  19. Why? It's quite fun baiting the 3 Boeing stooges - BigD, Scallywally and MrMongo They always bite
  20. The Emirates deliveries are being held up by the suppliers of the interior fittings, which Emirates selected, not Airbus. This delay is not the fault of Airbus. Further Emirates deliveries are being held up because of this supply problem. It is not affecting the other deliveries. The Qantas jet VH-OQA (MSN014) will be handed over on Friday and will arrive in Sydney on the 21st via Singapore. The second is due for handover in November. Singapores 6th one, 9V-SKF (MSN012) has just been delivered (17/09/08) Look here for a pic of the Qantas/SIA A380s So that is 8 deliveries
  21. So where is it???? Well here is a little map to help you. And some of the ladies waiting to meet you.
  22. The Three Stooges seem to have missed this latest little hiccup in the story of the Nightmareliner Personally I love this little one:- If i remember rightly I predicted that commissioning of the control systems would not be straight forward and was bound to cause a few problems...... Whereas the Three Stooges claimed the Nightmareliner would be not have any problems with it's systems... As I am Instrumentation and Control Engineer I know systems integration causes problems, and especially with safety-critical systems such as on a prototype airplane. Will the Nightmareline
  23. Emirates for me.... from Manchester. I don't mind paying the extra, I like the 3 hour break in Dubai. Am also a Silver Flyer and on my last 2 return flights have been given business class upgrades. And if I make 3 return trips with Emirates, I just about qualify for a reward return flight - if I pay £45 for the extra miles. Can't be arsed travellling all the way down to London and then across London just to save a £100. Plus I have Manchester, Newcastle and Glasgow (which have Emirates flights) all within 2.5 hours travelling distance.
  24. It looks like the rumour was right So after all the whinging by Boeing about how the KC-767 was the ideal product for the USAF they are now thinking about changing their candidate for the 3rd attempt at winning the contract.
