I will be arriving into BKK aprox 12:10 AM on March 5, Saturday morning. Is it best I head straight to Pattaya or secure lodging in BKK. And what is the best mode of transportation to Pattaya that late? I want to avoid smog and heavy traffic jams notrious in BKK as I have read.

I would book a taxi through your hotel in Pattaya if you can and go straight to Pattaya from the airport, or take your chances and get a taxi straight to Pattaya from the airport, usually plenty available.

Why stay in Bangkok, no more than what Pattaya has to offer, but Pattaya is about 1/2 the price.

I went straight to Pattaya this last trip. I used PJ Scuba's taxi service. Cost was 1600 baht which is somewhat expensive but they have nice new, clean autos and they were there waiting for me when I arrived at midnight.

whether you go to BKK or staright to pattaya have the driver stop at lolitas in bkk. Take the edge off then you can sleep in the car if you go to pattaya. :D

And Mr. t will drive you to lolitas and wait in the car for 30 minutes until you come back. (Give him an extra 100 baht tip for that). Taxi driver won't want to do it.

Be advised, that most car for hire agents, because of the rising cost of fuel, have raised thier prices accordingly. Also, if you are going to stay at the Residence Gaeden in Pattaya, Ib, the manager, can arrange dependable transportation for you. This can also be done even if your staying at another hotel.

One other great plan is that if you arrive very late at night, unfortunatly with the closing times, the two hour drive to Pattaya to me is valuable drinking and entertainment time. I can recommend a hotel called the Dynasty Inn which is right next to Nana Plaza and in the heart of Bangkoks entertainment district, there rates are 1000 baht per night http://www.dynastyinn.com/beta_DynastyInnBangkok.htm and they also do cheap transfers to Pattaya also, I will head to Pattaya the next day.

If you're going to stay in Bangkok for a few days then go to Bangkok but if you're going to Pattaya, just get a taxi there whatever time you arrive. Then either have a sleep or head out into the night. You will still find whatever it is you are looking for.

personally id head straight for pattaya! its only another 2 hours, and if you want any action you can get it at any hour in pattaya! (and as already stated pattaya is half the price of bangkok!)
