Pattaya Expats........

Parking for a night out.

It's never easy to park in Pattaya, and when I go for a night out we always ponder where to park.

Used to be able to find a spot at the bottom of Pattaya Nua, but not always, and it is such a haul to get to and from Walking Street.

Many use the Wat, opposite the school on Pattaya Tai, just before Second rd, great location but a pain to drive to.... and sometimes you lose bits off the car!

More recently I have used the Ruen Thai restaurant car park, opposite The Marriot on second rd. Another great location for ease of Walking St..... and no need to suffer the baht busses. But they seem to know we are not using the restaurant now, and the squeeze is on for more cash for the attendants.

Where do you put the car when you go a carousing?

What tricks are required to be allowed to stay for over 4 hours from 8pm?

Funny, I ALMOST always get one in the lots or sois off WS. I don't mind paying, mind you. If I can't get one, oh, opposite Nang Nual say, I head down to the Bayview end. If not there, well... I usually pick another place to enjoy the evening, sometimes even up top along Jomtien. If I MUST do WS and a 20-minute drive-around yields nothing, I just backtrack up to the RG and park in the garage there, or talk to the guard in a first-class hotel and get a baht bus.

Well I might add I don't mind paying too... I am doing to the attendants now. Anybody know what time the car park at 'The Avenue' closes?

Joe....a bit confused, there are not many sois off Walking Street, and even fewer you can take a car down...Walking Street itself is closed to traffic then. Time is at a premium, and cruising at walking pace to find a place is not really an option. One can hardly walk down those streets.

Would infront of the Bali Hai pier be okay at night?

When I had FLB I'd often get a park on Pratamnak Rd opposite the VC hotel. If they were all full then by the Marine 3 Disco between the Arab bars (20 baht).

Now with the Beer Garden I still look on Pratamnak near Soi 16. Often a free space there before 7 pm. Failing that its the Wat on Pattaya Tai (10 baht) In the Wat I park right at the back and use the side entrance/exit on to Second Rd, through Mike Department store and on to Beach Rd.

On the rare occasion that I take the car out I usually manage to get parked in Marine Plaza or across the road up the side of the VC hotel.

In answer to Jacko the Avenue is open 24 hours due to Villa market being open.

Yes, driving from Second Road towards WS. There are, what? four, five sois you can drive towards WS. I have been lucky over the years. For a while, they had a "lot" that would hold half a dozen cars max right across from Nang Nuan. Example.

depends where i'm going ..

car park near the kebab stall oppsoite VC hotel, as if your going to drive towards coyote agogo but right into the car park.. ideal for walking street.

or soi 6. 6/1 , then motorcycle or baht bus.. always fun going back to the car very late, get soem of the tg's shouting out the windows for a early morning screw.. as long as you cna run past the ladyboys

or evne 2nd rd..

i've also parked on pattaya tai a few times , near WS.. but get a lot of pissed off market stall owners when you go back after there open

Thanks a lot guys, I am quite amazed some of you get into that mess that is between Phratamnac and Walking St. (My driver mate can't park for shit so it needs to be easy). I have also been 'trapped' by food stalls too, of course they have a right to set up where they like as they are a business . Murder to get out....

We like to come in and out on Pattaya Klang. Best so far seems like The Avenue.

Wherever you park you want to be certain you are friends and copasetic with the folks around. If they think you've screwed with them they can... um, complicate your life. I always make sure two, three people at the site are HAPPY I'm parking there and even better if they plan to be there for quite some hours to explain what a great guy I am, and kindly to everyone. Hotel guards are good about that.

I park in Jomtien and take the baht bus. No problems at all.

I know of at least one spot where bar owner friend's park - but if I gave them up they would kill me. Great post, but secret parking spots in Pattaya are more closely guarded than national defense codes
