Hi everyone

You can get it done for you at Tuk Com. Expensive though.......... If you can buy a machine here it would be cheaper. I paid 500 bt a 3hr tape.

You need a TV input card for your computer, then various bits of software to first record the feed, then to convert to .vob format for writing to DVD. If you need more info I'd be happy to help you find the correct software.

I don't know if you have access to buy latest Panasonic.

I bought a DMR-EZ48V Panasonic DVD-REC/VCR COMBO-DVB TUNER.

Very easy to use.

As I had used Super VHS for our video recordings this also players Super VHS which is a bonus.

Paid $400 au or 11600 baht.

one of those machines would be the easy way, for a non-techie

only reason I could see to bother with A/V input to your computer is if you already had a VHS player & didn't want to buy a new machine to transfer to DVD

either way you'll end up with a device that you will most likely never use again, but in the case of a VHS/DVD recover/player you could still play DVDs on it when you're done

whereas I can't think of a reason why you'd ever use an A/V input on your computer again

Check the quality first. There is a reason why it is expencive to convert.

I have done it with Haupage 150 tv card and the quality is ok but not something I would do for those pictures I would like to keep. By that I mean pictures like your first baby and so on but quite ok for shots from vacations and such.

yeah, be careful & check the specs on how the video is stored on DVD, bitrate, etc.

Just had a thought I think I have in roof space storage a vcr and I certainly have a dvd writer on the computer and one attached to the tv so I may be in luck.

I may well get in contact with you about this soon if that's alright? I have hours and hours of filth I filmed with BG's and I need to get it put onto DVD. I'm too paranoid to take it into a shop and get it done.

There is some guy who attends the Expats Club in Pattaya that does this at a charge, and also a photoshop was recommended. The question comes up there every 6 months.

Is this a wind up ? If so S I am far from paranoid (if you are referring to a previous post jokingly) But by all means PM me if you wish if its sensible. I am probably the quietest and coolest headed person you will ever meet.
