I heard that the Who were to be the entertainment at the superbowl. But Pete Townsend had been caught in 1993 with child porn pics and was put on the sex offenders register. I was a big fan of Townsends music, but cooled after his arrest. Whats being said in America?

I was a Townsend fan. Amazing songwiter and riff meister. However, he was caught in a sting to catch peedos. It was his credit card that caught him. Long story short.........No excuse should be accepted. His was curiosity. He never denied or was cleared.

As another obsessed poster put it, it's theoretical. The Who are playing. Townshend is playing. He's not "getting away" with anything, he's playing a 10-minute gig that almost no one will remember, as an after-thought at a sports spectacular. No, there is no comment to speak of and no outrage at all, sorry about that. You asked, that's the answer. It won't change in the next 12 hours before his gig, and it won't change after the gig. It's the way it is, like it or lump it, them's the two choices you have, there are no others.

Until a recent Pete Townsend interview, the bookmakers were taking bets on what song The Who would play first.

 

Then, Townsend, in the interview gave 4 songs they'd probably do, which screwed up the betting.

In my circle the fuss is about how the New Orleans Aints stole the 'who dat' from Cincinnati fans. There is a beer company in Ohio that make Hudepole beer, they made a special 'HU' beer for the football fans in Cincinnati and was called 'HU dat', so now years later the New Orleans fans changed it to 'who dat' and get famous. No one cares about Townsend, all we know about those guys is they wrote the CSI theme songs, catchy tunes.

The only thing the sex offenders list does is make it so that if he moved into a new town everyone near him would be alerted to his presence.

Why does it not surprise me that you dont get, equality

 

Any plumber done for kiddie pron pics, wouldnt get into America or a work visa. Theres been a few famous people done with kiddie pics and the seem to have been treated in a similar way to each other, but Townsend seems to ave got off lightly. imho, people involved in any form of child porn offences, should be ostracised. I bey some kiddie porn monsters have studied Townsend defence and will try it themselves.
