Ah, The Stanley Cup Play-Offs

Recommended Posts

Of whom four have tickets?

Terribly wrong. You could argue wrong-headedly that he is currently the second best player in the world, and I would understand your bias. But he most definitely doesn't suck. His series against World Number 2 Sid the Kid last year was classic.

Preaching to the choir. I still have a very noticeable mark from one I took at age 8. I only saw the last 25 minutes of the Thursday morning game but I simply was gaping open-mouthed of the incredible skill of Montreal at it. Caps totally dominated the play, Montreal totally deserved the W.

Mind you, not even half those blocks "took" anything at all, they were off sticks and skates. Very, very few of them were sliding into the shot. But that didn't make it suck. It was a hugely skillful performance.

.

way more than 4 have tix. about 50-50, i know coz my wife's cousin has season tix.

ovie sucks as a human, great player but unlikeable.

taking shots? i was a goalie with no mask and home made equipment on outdoor rinks in montreal back when...

yes, many stick blocks but a lot of others. of course montreal has a tradition of playing with passion.

cheers

For sheer watchability, this Boston-Philly series is a real thriller - up and down the ice and just very exciting hockey. First game was overtime, I think there were like two whistles in about 18 minutes. Boston is up 2-0 but it could easily be 1-1 or 0-2, it's that close and that much fun, all-out all the time.

Boston traded Joe Thornton to the Sharks 5 years ago and this is the first time since the trade that the Sharks seem like legit contenders and not pretenders.

Marco Sturm, one of those traded to Boston for Thornton, is out for the remainder of this year into next with a knee injury. Brad Stuart, also in that trade, is a top defenseman with Detroit.

The Sharks are up 2 games to nil against the Red Wings and have won 5 straight after looking like they would choke in round one (again) against the Avs.

A lot of fun watching Versus in the USA these days.

What are you folks watching over in Thailand?

I hope so. I was hoping they'd sweep, but I wasn't gonna bet the farm on it.

Talk about your off nights!! For all that, I don't think Detroit was that excellent, as much as San Jose was stumblin and fumblin. Nabokov... well, they could have had me in there for about the same result. It was either one bad hair day or the beginning of the worst NHL collapse since 1942.

Chicago-Vancouver is very unimpressive. The last four East teams are putting on good entertainment but .... If they awarded the Cup on paper, I think the Sharks get it easily IF they win Game 5.

I am with you Joe! I told my fellow Sharks fans at work today that if the Sharks lose game five it will go seven games and the odds would be with Detroit - even though they would be playing in San Jose.

I know picoman is an unwavering fan - where are you picoman to trash my lack of faith?

A nail biter finish.

Really! I saw the second and most of the third period and I thought the Sharks were very tentative all of a sudden. And to cap it, a VERY undisciplined penalty to give Detroit 6 on 5 at the end. Again, teams have bad nights but two games in a row San Jose didn't look.... what? confident! The Thornton line had some moments but all in all not an inspiring finish.

I presume they get Chicago, and they won't intimidate the Hawks. This MIGHT get interesting of a sudden.

If it really mattered, there would be a thread about it.......... :allright

There would be a thread about it, if the USA would have won. Canada is the best ice hockey nation. They played all over you at the Olympic winter games a few short months ago, winning the gold medal. :D

Forget about ice hockey. There is another thing I would like to point out. The OP with his hatred for what he calls soccer, should acknowledge the great interest shown by the American people in the Football World cup in South Africa next month. The most tickets for the cup so far have been bought by American citizens. B)

USA 130 000 tickets

United Kingdom 97 000 tickets

Australia 43 000 tickets.

Actually there would be a thread about it if anyone cared to start one. Do you care enough to start the thread or are you just trying to be thought of as funny? Though what any of that has to do with a Stanley Cup playoffs is beyond me.

BTW, there are WC threads. Villa has one on page 4 and lajimmy has one on page 6. Oddly enough, you haven't posted in either one. Some fuckin' fan you are..... :allright. Though what that has to do with the Stanley Cup playoffs is beyond me.

Canada is the best ice hockey nation.

Holy shit, as there are two Canadian teams and numerous Canadian players still playing in the current Stanley Cup playoffs, you sir are actually on-topic. Confuckingratulations. :chogdee

They played all over you at the Olympic winter games a few short months ago, winning the gold medal. :D

Yeah, they lost to the US in the prelims and won by one goal in overtime. Are you really going with that to show how smart you are concerning that situation............... ;). Though what that has to do with a Stanley Cup playoff thread is beyond me.

BTW, 3 of those gold medals are worn by Shark players and the guy who tied the gold medal game with seconds to play wears the same jersey. But hey, tell me what I don't know.........

Forget about ice hockey.

And please enlighten the world as to why that should happen in an, let me type slowly for you, I c e H o c k e y thread?

There is another thing I would like to point out.

Oh please do....though what it will possibly have to do with the Stanley Cup playoffs is beyond me. B)

Gee, do you think the only possible way you could pose that question to Vic is here rather than in the fucking "Soccer Sucks" thread? At least he has the common sense to start his own thread rather that threadfucking someone elses. Are you a Vic stalker? Hell, PM the guy if it bothers you much. Though what that has to do with the Stanley Cup playoffs is beyond me.:D

United Kingdom 97 000 tickets

Australia 43 000 tickets.

And Avatar made a billion dollars so far. WTF does any of that have to do with the Stanley Cup playoffs?

Get a life dude. :hithead :D

Yeah, Canucks have pretty well choked.

Go Sharks. Being a a Red Wings fan, that might take some explanation.

  1. Better than having the Black Hawks in the finals--period
  2. Keep the NHL big wigs from their wet dream of a Chicago v. Pittsburgh or Boston final (go Habs)
  3. Have at least some of the week night games at a a starting time I can watch

As for the Red Wings, only five month to next season, 40 is the new 30 and more Depends to the Joe. :allright

Canada is the best ... nation.

Thank you very much. :allright

I was surprised to see the Caps choke like that. Not that I managed to catch the game, mind you, it's just that the Caps were the most famous choke artists in the NHL when I was in high school. I guess, like the old beer commercial says, the good things in life never change.

Now when and where can I see the mighty Montreal Canadiens play their next opponents? Edit: 8 am Tuesday morning Pattaya time, looks like. Cherry Bar, right?

The last couple of minutes were nerve racking for fans of both teams. That is what I meant.

You Kiwis are a bunch of idiots who can't even read and haven't a lick of sense.

And THINK ABOUT IT before you answer, jackass. There is an actual, real message in there for you. See if you can find it before it slaps your silly gay face.
