Thats a bit of luxury! The should walk it... up through Africa, Jordan, Syria, Turkey etc, then a nice walk across Europe.

All kidding aside.. how fucking relentless will the British press be on them?

First couple of hours, not very. The Guardian advises to just move on to cricket.

EDIT. Nuts. I didn't know you couldn't put pix here. I was going to show the Guardian web page, with the English loss reported like it was some traffic accident, and right below it the CLICK HERE FOR ENGLAND CRICKET LIVE!!!! box.

Here's the Sun:

SORRY England tumbled out of the World Cup as bungling match officials shamefully failed to spot a Frank Lampard equaliser.

Uruguayan referee Jorge Larrionda and his assistants were blind to an effort from the midfielder that CROSSED THE LINE — and would have made it 2-2 at half time.

Instead the Germans, with strikes from Miroslav Klose, Lukas Podolski and two-goal Thomas Muller, completely outclassed Fabio Capello's team and now progress to the quarter-finals.

England could not have got off to a worse start, with hapless defending seeing them 2-0 down after 32 minutes.... and so on

Is it true that the English FA are going to change their emblem from 3 lions to 3 tampons? .., because it's going to be an awful long period before England win a world cup.

Now we are on the way to win the title the 4th. time  :D :D

Don't put money on it, and your comment (first post eh, welcome to the Board) sounds unfortunately smug. The Germany defence were a shambles against England on several occasions. Surely you know how lucky but dishonourable Germany were last night.

Germany always fields a strong team, and good luck to them for their precise passing and great off-the-ball running, but last night's match revealed major weaknesses too. You're up against the cheat Maradona's boys next - good luck, you'll need it.

A luckier England team might have made this a second half to remember forever, what a pity.

The disallowed goal was an outrage, changed the entire match/England tactics and will have consequences in terms of camera replay/sensor systems etc. when that corrupt c*nt Blatter is persuaded to let soccer advance from the 1950s or resign.

And am I the only one to be similarly outraged because for the last ten yards of his goal-scoring run, Klose held the defender back with an outstretched right arm across the chest? - a blatant foul that was also not picked up on by the blind linesman. It's not allowed in the rules, and is simply cheating.

It was not soccer's greatest night, and not one that Germany can be proud of. Changes are needed for the good of the beautiful game.

Sore looser, Germany were again far superior to England in last nighs's game. Eventhough Maradona was the greatest player of all time by a billion mile, i'm not sure if Messi has team.mates good enough to stop this wonderful German team. The Germans deserve their 4th world cup victory.

What rule is that? He was trying to play the ball and was between the defender and the ball - perfectly legitimate, but the rule is abused by defenders all the time when they are shepherding the ball out of play without touching it..

I agree with dontcha - sounds a bit like sour grapes. I think the Germans can be really proud of what their young, albeit not inexperienced, team achieved against a team that saw themselves as potential tournament winners.

As I understand it, you are allowed to screen an opponent from the ball with your body if you are in possession, e.g. to allow it to go out of bounds for a throw-in, but you are not allowed to physically restrain an opponent by pushing an arm across his chest to stop him overtaking you to gain possession. The fact that one often sees it happen doesn't make it ok.

No sour grapes, just felt deprived of a potentially superb second half by the no-goal decision, which inevitably had at least a psychological effect on the English team. With England out, I hope Germany wins the World Cup, they're a very good team and I hope they can achieve it cleanly and fairly. Good officials would help of course.

Seemed to me the defender had an elbow grip on his arm during his goal run. See around 00:32 in this video. So who, if anyone, was fouling whom?

Klose was between Upson and the ball. Had he not been attempting to play the ball it could be viewed as obstruction but since he obviously was he was fully entitled to shield the ball as he did. If any foul was committed it was by Upson attempting to pull Klose from behind. Good advantage played by the ref and good play by Klose by not going to ground in search of a penalty when Upson took his hands away as they went into the box.

Look on the bright side, at least it wasn't in the final.

It's unfortunate that Germany have got Argentina in the next round - the match would have been better suited to the semis or the final itself.

I think you all saw a different game to me.

England had the better of the first half just poor defending by Terry let them get ahead, then upson proving he's not up to the job. Ladley King should ahve played in my opinion.

England were robbed of a clear goal and Lumpard hit the crossbar with another effort.

Second half England pushed too much and for both second half goals Johnson was too far forward and the germans exploited it.

If it had been 2-2 or 3-2 England at half time we'd have seen a different second half.

The germans took thewir chances we didn't.

Second half also saw a brilliant one handed save from a Rooney effort.

Rooney was not match fit when he went to SA and everyone is on his back. He is by far our best player when on form and doesn't deserve the shit he gets from people. He always plays with his heart and gives his all.

Lets see what the future brings .My tip for the Cup now is Spain.
